A youth, clad in a rigid, form-fitting Saiyan battle suit and sporting a light-gold colored cape, was sitting cross-legged on a desolate plain. A subtle aura emanated from his body, erupting like burning flames. Not far away, a stern-looking elder, wearing the same attire and a scouter, stared intently at the youth. He was King Vegeta, the ruler of Planet Vegeta.
As King Vegeta watched the youth begin to gather his Ki (energy), he immediately tapped the activation button on his scouter. Several numbers instantly flashed across the display, but King Vegeta watched with an air of cold indifference, his expression unchanging, as if no number could capture his attention.
"3053"
"Is this the highest limit?"
King Vegeta looked at the stopped youth with slight dissatisfaction, muttering inwardly. The youth, however, casually walked up to him, appearing somewhat relaxed. King Vegeta questioned the youth in a cold tone: "It's still too slow... Betkas. You were born with a Battle Power of 1000. Last year, it was only 2000. This year, you've only improved by 1000 points?"
Betkas looked at King Vegeta with slight disdain in his heart, but replied, "I will work harder in the future..." He then thought with dissatisfaction, "You old bastard. Do you think Battle Power is that easy to raise? A 1000-point increase in a year makes me a small anomaly already.
Compared to Goku and the others on Earth, I am far more monstrous right now... although I definitely won't be able to compete with them when they can raise their Battle Power by tens of thousands in just a few days later on."
A killing intent flashed in King Vegeta's eyes, and the surrounding temperature instantly dropped significantly. He then said, "Alright. Continue your previous training... Remember... someone will come to pick you up to go to a certain place later. You know what to do." Betkas's lips stiffened slightly. He parted them, but ultimately said nothing. He knew exactly what King Vegeta was about to do next.
In the past few years, Betkas had finally figured out which world he had transmigrated to: the well-known Dragon Ball world, a powerful realm where a casual wave of the hand could destroy a planet, and a world filled with numerous masters. This had initially left him somewhat stunned, but more so helpless.
He hadn't expected the wish he made to the shooting star—to change the world—to actually come true. What made him even more frustrated was that he had been reborn as the third prince of the Saiyans... meaning he was the younger brother of both Vegeta and Tarble. To his further annoyance, Tarble had been sent to another planet a long time ago due to his personality and low Battle Power.
Both Vegeta and Betkas, however, were kept on Planet Vegeta because their Battle Power and personalities were deemed suitable. However, the training over the past few years had allowed Betkas, who was originally a Diaosi, to experience true hardship.
What was even more annoying was that Vegeta trained in the same location as him. Over the years, the two occasionally sparred.
However, Betkas almost always won. Even though Betkas was a Diaosi youth on Earth, he knew some Taekwondo and other martial arts. His combat awareness could be considered advanced.
For Prince Vegeta, who had virtually no real combat experience, Betkas held an absolute advantage. This often left the proud Prince Vegeta thoroughly disgruntled, his face turning dark whenever he saw Betkas.
If the Dragon Ball world didn't lack high-level political scheming, Betkas would truly suspect whether Vegeta might secretly try to kill him. After all, the current Vegeta was not the later version who valued family.
Although he was young now, his arrogance was already formed. However, he wasn't as arrogant as his original counterpart, because Betkas was his inner demon. King Vegeta merely observed their actions, turning a blind eye and not intervening.
"Right over there... Prince Betkas... please follow us..."
Just as King Vegeta hadn't been gone long, three aliens suddenly appeared and stood behind Betkas, speaking with "kind" smiles.
Betkas turned to look at the three sudden arrivals, his face composed, while he sized them up. All three aliens wore the standard universal battle suits seen in Dragon Ball and had scouters. However, they looked rather monstrous: one had an octopus face, one looked like a dog's head, and one like a fish's face. Betkas had secretly chuckled when he first saw them.
"I understand..."
Betkas replied calmly. The three aliens said no more and immediately led him away. They walked towards a small spaceship. One of the dog-headed aliens spoke with a look of intimidation: "Prince Betkas, that is Lord Frieza's spaceship. You must be careful... not everyone there is friendly to you, Saiyans."
"Oh... thank you," Betkas replied indifferently upon hearing this. He knew many of Frieza's subordinates disliked the Saiyans, including Frieza himself. Had Frieza not valued Vegeta's potential or other factors, Vegeta might have died long ago in the original story. The same held for Betkas.
He stopped overthinking it, sat directly in the spaceship, and clicked the launch button. The round spaceship immediately flew toward the massive, round spaceship above. As Betkas looked through the window, he gazed at Planet Vegeta and then at another round spaceship that had just flown out in the distance. He thought silently to himself...
"Farewell... Planet Vegeta... and..."
"Goodbye, Broly!"
"Until we meet again... Kakarot!"
"Frieza, ah, Frieza... I will be spending my days on your pirate ship now... I hope it's not too troublesome..."
"I don't particularly like trouble... But to survive... I must become stronger. A Battle Power of just over 3000 is only that of a low-class soldier. I need to reach fifty or sixty thousand to be able to thrive under you..."
"So... I still need to work hard... and show promising potential, but not to the point of threatening you. However, those troublesome subordinates are a bit of a problem..."
"Dodoria and the like aren't a big deal. The most important problem is the Ginyu Force... those are the most troublesome guys for me."
