I asked the giant man with a rhinoceros head to see how friendly the animal people here actually are and to my luck the guy gave me a smile that looked a bit disturbing due to his head and told me that I should head towards the center of the city which is due east, I thanked him and left for the guild
Walking through the streets of Safra, Simon felt rather giddy, due to his job as a policeman back in his homework he rarely got a chance to travel abroad to visit different places and now he was in a while new world with fantasy races roaming the streets, the bridges, the architectures, the churches and even the dress code of this city really brought back the inner child in him

The people began to ask questions before getting back to their own business, since the explosion happened quiet far from where they are, Simon too did not panick that much as he simply gazed towards the direction of the explosion

He joking replied

The man in armour, knight Captain Alaster gritted his teeth as he too took a defensive formation against the powerful wave of green mana, contaminated mana that the monster before him released as if it was nothing to him

The elder lich, cladded in black robes with ancient runes on it stepped forward while walking over the dead corpses of the town people and adventurers it skilled when it revealed itself, it's green mana alone was causing normal civilians with little mana control to die in minutes and the attack it used just now, a field attack that caused an earthquake, killed atleast hundreds of civilians and dozens of the troops that were mobilized
"WHO SUMMONED YOU HERE CREATURE?!!!"
Captain Alaster shouted at the elder lich who turned to him and to everyone's shock, replied

And continued and chanted

All the corpses near it got engulfed its's death energy and stood back up lifelessly, their eyes glowing with green mana

The two forces clashed unleashing a powerful wave of mana around their surroundings causing everything the break apart due to force of their magical power and Auras colliding, and unbeknownst to them, a certain knight in white was making her way towards them from the south side of the town in haste

He questioned mentally as he jumped over another wall and and climbed up the roof of a house and jumped towards another house

The friendly tone Aia had adopted was now turned chillingly practical, and Simon really appreciated that right now, jumping over houses he could see and hear the fear, terror and panick that gripped to people of this city, children getting killed and turned into monsters alongside their parents, a mother crying to God to save atleast her child, a father grabbing anything he can find to fight and protect his family, a child crying as his world gets destroyed infront of him
He ran past such people who were confused, terrified, or just frozen, their eyes wide as the ominous green glow coming from the cracks all over the city roads that devoured them helplessly, what followed was a smell of something acrid; ozone mixed with decay that was carried on the wind
It hurted the pride Simon had as a former policeman to just run away and leave such a heartbreaking situation like a coward

He told himself, because he knew, no matter what he did right now, there was nothing he could do for them, because be himself was only a level 2 human
He gritted his teeth in frustration and bursted out of the winding streets and saw the massive stone wall of the West Gate, but as he got close, his heart sank

The gate wasn't open, it was closed, and in front of the sturdy wooden doors stood a dozen figures clad entirely in black leather and steel, their faces hidden behind simple, dark masks, their curved swords, daggers and axes were already wet with blood, and several bodies lay sprawled near the closed doors who were civilians who clearly hadn't waited for permission to leave
The air around those men cladded in black felt heavy, almost unnatural

One of them, clearly the leader due to his taller stance and more elaborate armor clasps, shouted, his voice rough and amplified, likely by magic.
"This city is under the control of us now, The Raven Cloak, All of you citizens and creatures of Safra are ordered to stay within these walls until we say otherwise, any attempt to leave will be met with...
(he gestured and lowered his hands and lowered his arms towards the corpses and cheerfully spoke)

His words and the way he said it sent a chill down Simon's spine, typical tone of the man's insanity reminded him how he died in the hands of another insane murderer who was his sister
