Chapter 21 - Aiiiish

"Wake up, edge lord." Bubbles began hitting my head with his soft paws.

"Ah, so it's morning already." I muttered, groggily opening my eyes.

At any other time, Bubbles' paws would have felt like a soft massage to my head. But not on this day, because today is the day. The day the Astral Mystic Institute was holding it's entrance exam.

If I were to be honest, I was kind of nervous. Not because I was afraid of failing the entrance exam, I knew I would pass, of that I was sure. The reason my nerves were frayed was because today will be the day would be the day the main storyline starts.

I shoved bubbles off my head, got off my bed, then headed for the bathroom.

After I brushed my teeth and freshened up, I stood before the bathroom mirror taking a good look at my fake face.

"It's gonna be a long time before I see this face again." I muttered as I raised my had to my face.

With a subtle morph, my face became a white featureless mask, which I soon took off to reveal my drop dead gorgeous features. Jet black hair, striking grey eyes, and a face to die for.

After that, I took a bath, and just as I left the bathroom,

"Whoa whoa whoa, who the hell are you? How the hell did you get here?" Bubbles' faux interrogative voice amused me.

"Didn't know I looked this stunning?" I asked amused.

"I still look more handsome though." He scoffed.

"Dude, not to sound racist or anything, but you're a cat." I specified. "The best you can look is adorable."

"This insufferable bastard." he muttered under his breath.

"Now if you'll excuse me." I said and began cladding myself in the brand new set of aristocratic clothing I had procured the day before. So what if I was exiled, I've still got to look like a proper prince.

After I was done, I looked back at the room that has been my abode for the past three days. I felt a bit melancholic, especially with how much the room has costed me.

I then turned to Bubbles who has perched on my shoulder.

"Okay Bubbles, if you will."

"Alrighty, let's go make some chaos!" he yelled right before disappearing.

I ignored his excitement, took a deep breath, and stepped out the door.

The moment I stepped out of the hotel, I was assaulted by a cacophony of sounds. It seemed the over- water city today was more crowded and rowdier than even yesterday.

It was to be expected, after all, during the three days I've been here, youths around my age had been pouring in from all over the human domain.

I took a look above me.

Even the sky had been crowded entirely with airships, each with banners carrying the crest or sigil of the house they came from.

My eyes caught one of the airships that were hovering way above us. It was one I recognized. It's banner had the sigil of a dark rose, and a dark sword, both laid on a silver a platter.

"So she's arrived." I muttered.

'I'd best hide if I were you.' Bubbles said amused.

"Am I not already doing enough?" I tugged at the cloak I had used to cover myself.

I had wrapped myself in this cloak solely for one reason. That is, to not draw attention. With my looks it was inevitable that I drew attention no matter where I go.

Though most people here likely won't recognize my royal blood, those who came from the Vorde continent would most likely do.

Sure, I wasn't the only one who had black hair and grey eyes around here. But I was surely the only one known as the uncouth and unruly prince of the Darkfell empire, and looked just as regal. I was well known in the capital, and I was sure as hell there must be other youths from the Darkfell capital here that will recognize me with a single glance, hence the cloak.

I'll shed it though, just like the mask. But not until the barrier opens.

And speak of the devil.

A shimmering translucent barrier suddenly materialized, encasing the entire Astral mystic island in it, before shrinking back a bit, leaving the about 10,000 square feet land extending towards the over-water city bare.

The surroundings erupted in chaos, mostly from the youths.

"Did you see that, it's... it's the barrier, it suddenly shrunk."

"That means the entrance exam is about to commence."

"Let's go." one dude shouted.

"Yeah, we must get there as soon as possible." another yelled.

Conversations like these were happening almost everywhere, be it the city, or those noble scions still up in their airships.

The youths rushed towards the piers, all scrambling for a boat that'll take them to the shores of the island.

Meanwhile, I simply stood still. When they're done pushing and scrambling, then I'll go. After all, I knew the proctor wouldn't even appear for the another three hours.

Just like that, almost two hours passed, and by this time, 90 percent of the youths scrambling, had already gotten on the island, it was only then that a few airships began descending right by the shores of the island.

And it was also when I made my way to the piers, and got onto a boat without any hassle. The boats were just big enough for three, the sailor, and the two aspirants they were ferrying, hence the earlier scrambling.

Once I got on the boat, I stripped off my cloak, and put it in my storage ring. The other youth I was being ferries across with looked at me shocked for a moment, before looking away. He must have been mesmerized by my face card.

About a minute later, we reached the shore.

As if fate was playing a joke on me, a certain airship with the sigil of a dark rose, and a dark sword, both laid on a silver platter, touched the waters just as I was getting off the boat.

And a stunning girl who looked almost identical to me with her straight long black hair, and equally striking eyes, dressed in an elegant black dress appeared on it's deck.

Heads turned to her, not only because of the sigil on the airship, but because of how otherworldly she looked.

How could she not be stunning, after all, she looked just like yours truly, or rather a feminine version of yours truly.

As her piercing eyes stared straight at me, my body almost felt the need to cower, I resisted and steadied myself, but my hands were still shaking, and my head forcibly lowered itself.

'Am I... afraid?' I thought. Sheer anger flared on my nerves at the thought of being frightened by a look from some little brat.

'I'm not the previous Damon, why should I be scared of some little brat?' I gritted my teeth and raised my head to look her in the eyes.

'You should be though, the chick used to mess you up.' Bubbles snickered.

'Shut up Bubbles, you're distracting me. And about messing me up?, As if." I scoffed even when knowing it was the truth.

I didn't know which bastard it was, but the bastard better pray I never find him. Just as I was having a staring contest with the feminine version of me, a voice rang in the surroundings.

"Oh my God, it's the second princess of the Darkfell empire, Rose Darkfell."

"Kya, oh my God, she's so beautiful." a female voice squealed.

Similar squeals went on for a while, but then came the bastard.

"But why is she looking at that figure though?"

It was then that everyone's attention turned to me. And upon seeing my features, shit hit the fan.

"Wait! I recognize him." someone said.

"Me too." another added. "Isn't that the infamous third prince of the Darkfell empire that was exiled not too long ago?" The person said in a whisper that was not a whisper.

I wasn't foolish to believe that news of my exile hadn't spread to other continents, after all, a prince being exiled was a big matter. But at least my face wasn't known before.

"Yeah I heard he tried to rape the maid of his fiancee on his own engagement day, can you believe that?"

By now all eyes had turned to me, and no matter where I looked, all eyes were on me. Since I couldn't hide, all I could do was take it like a man.

But before I could do that, Rose leapt off the airship's deck, and landed on the shore, before the airship lifted off.

She then started walking towards me, and once she was close, I opened my mouth, but was at a loss of what to say.

Rose meanwhile walked past me like I didn't even exist.

"He's so terrible, even his sister detests him."

"How could someone even attempt such a thing."

"I didn't know Vordeians were so wild."

'Hahaha, she's really ruined your fade.' Bubbles crackled.

I almost felt the need to pull out my hair out of frustration.

"Aiiiish, you've got to be kidding me."
