Chapter 69 - Chapter 68: We Just Want to Live!

Bolivar slowly slid the gene detection navigation system across the room, stopping on the Vietnamese monkey Mystique had transformed into.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

A rapid alarm went off.

Everyone's eyes immediately shifted toward Mystique, filled with surprise and suspicion.

"It must have malfunctioned," Mystique tried to explain, hoping to muddle through.

Bolivar looked at her with cold confidence. "My inventions never malfunction."

"What are you?"

The people in the room stood up in alarm as black-suited bodyguards rushed in, pointing their guns at Mystique.

Seven or eight of them swarmed her, attempting to restrain her.

But Mystique was no ordinary target. Her superior physique and combat skills made short work of them.

She flipped one bodyguard with a suplex, grabbed another, and drove an elbow into his skull—two down in seconds.

The officials attending the meeting screamed and scattered.

Bolivar crouched in a corner, trembling as Mystique slid out from under the conference table, kicked away the last guard, and snatched his pistol.

Swish—

She aimed the gun at Bolivar, ready to end the perverted little man in one shot.

"Raven!!" Magneto and the others appeared, shouting her name.

Mystique's attention flickered for just a moment, and that was enough.

Fallen bodyguards lunged, wrapping her in electric cables. She convulsed and collapsed.

"Raven!" Magneto roared and, with a wave of his hand, ripped the cables apart, freeing her.

His face hardened. He remembered all too well—the future where Raven's blood would help humans create the Sentinel robots.

To save thousands of mutants, she had to die.

Whoosh—

The pistol in Mystique's hand flew through the air and into Magneto's. He raised it, pointing it straight at her.

"Eric, what are you doing?!" Charles shouted.

"Protecting our future!" Magneto's voice was cold. "Forgive me, Raven. As long as you live, we're all in danger."

"Charles, stop him!" Mystique's voice trembled.

"No, he can't," Magneto replied, tightening his finger on the trigger.

But just as he was about to shoot—

Two dim yellow portals appeared out of nowhere.

The flow of time within a hundred meters slowed down to a crawl, nearly sixteen times slower.

Everyone froze mid-motion, their movements and expressions stiff and mechanical.

Charles and the others were dumbfounded.

Who were these people? Mutants? A special unit? Time travelers?

No one answered.

The newcomers moved efficiently, scanning Bolivar.

"Information confirmed. Subject: Bolivar Trask. Inventor of the Sentinel robots."

A Timekeeper nodded to the squad leader.

"Good. Put a Time Collar on him. Don't let this slippery rat escape."

Bolivar's eyes widened in terror as the humiliating collar snapped around his neck.

He had only created a weapon… why was this happening?

The squad leader's gaze shifted to Wolverine—Logan—whose unstable thoughts made him twitch.

"Haha, interesting. Bring him too. A healing factor like that would be perfect for our Time Squad One."

Logan barely had time to react before a collar was locked around his neck.

"Hahaha! Not bad. This trip wasn't wasted!"

"Right, let's go. And this dwarf's apprentice? He's even more ruthless. Perfect for going against Leo."

The squad leader laughed as the Time Squad disappeared through the portals, taking Bolivar and Logan with them.

Time snapped back to normal.

"F**k! Who the hell were they?!" Magneto punched the air in rage.

"They took Logan and Bolivar! All my plans—ruined!"

Charles stayed calm. "They had a clear target. They must be a powerful organization. Maybe… it's not a bad thing. Their goal is the same as ours: stopping Bolivar."

No one knew what to do. One by one, they left the chaotic scene.

In 2023, Logan suddenly jerked awake. The consciousness transmission had been interrupted.

"Ah! They got me… They captured me!"

Elder Charles stared at him, stunned. "Then… we failed?"

He lowered his head, voice trembling. "Is this fate?"

Erik fell to his knees with a heavy thud, raising his fist to the sky.

"What crime have we committed?! We just want to live!! Why won't you even give us that?!"

The dark sky hung heavy—just like their fate.

Their hope, once bright, was crumbling.

But then—

The Sentinel robots in the sky began melting like snow. The world brightened.

"What…?"

"Oh my God, didn't we fail?"

"Hahaha! God doesn't want us Mutants to perish!"

"It must be divine intervention! Someone took Bolivar and Stryker away!"

Cheers erupted as the earth was restored.

But Wolverine's figure flickered, dissolving into light. No one remembered him.

History had rewritten itself. A new chapter had begun.
