Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Dragon Emperor

Authors note:- Before we begin.

Author's Note:

Before we begin, I want to clarify a few points:

Dark Power vs. Dark Resonance: While they may appear similar, these two forces are fundamentally different.

Aura Color Change: Because Dark Power and Dark Resonance both share a purple aura, I am changing Kai's aura to black to avoid any confusion.

Power Scaling: The gap between Kyoya and Gingka is not that large—at least not yet. Please keep this in mind before sharing any concerns.

Thanks for reading so far! All suggestions and feedback are welcome.

The rooftop overlooked devastation.

The smoke cleared to reveal Storm Pegasus deeply incrusted in the crushed rubble. It's fusion wheel cracked and smoking; it lay cold and motionless, defeated. It's s energy completely drained by the forbidden power.

Gingka collapsed to his hands and knees, shoulders shaking. Blood dripped from a cut above his eyebrow. His launcher hung loose in trembling hands.

His spirit shattered by the realization that his anger had been the "spice" Ryuga needed to fully awaken L-Drago.

Around him, his friends stood frozen.

Kenta's fists clenched white-knuckled. Madoka's eyes glistened with unshed tears. Benkei stared at the ground, jaw tight. Even Kyoya looked away, arms crossed, expression hard.

They'd never seen Gingka like this.

Broken.

Across the ruins, Ryuga stood atop a collapsed wall section. Lightning L-Drago spinning lazily in his palm. Purple aura flickering around him like satisfied flames.

He laughed coldly at Gingka's failure to avenge his father.

"I'll say it a thousand times, your father couldn't cut it! If the father isn't tough enough, what do you think the son will be like? The same! So grovel at my feet like your father did!"

Gingka sobbed "I'm sorry... Father..."

"Delicious," Ryuga said. Voice carrying across the silent rooftop. "The spirit of a Blader is L-Drago's favorite meal. And yours, Gingka Hagane, was delicious."

Doji stepped forward. His suit pristine despite the destruction surrounding them. He simply adjusted his glasses with a smug grin.

Ryuga commanded "Enough of this. We have to prepare for Battle Bladers."

"Of course. The stage is being set for the ultimate feast. Let u—."

"RYUGA."

A voice cut in.

Everyone turned.

A figure stood in the doorway. Backlit by emergency lighting from the stairwell. Silhouette lean, posture casual but predatory.

Stepped forward into the dim rooftop light.

Stripped of his Dark Nebula gear—black in his original clothes, modified launcher at his hip. Light purple eyes that caught the light like polished steel. Dual-colored hair—dark grey bangs and black slicked-back hair—beneath the sodium glow. A small carrier in one hand.

Kai Hiwatari.

***

Kenta's breath caught. "You—"

Benkei stepped back instinctively.

Kyoya's hand moved to his launcher.

Recognition hit like physical force.

Madoka stared. "Kai..."

The weird boy who hates toasters. Who trained like his life on line. Crushed every opponent without mercy. Who disappeared three months ago.

But something else caught her eye.

Black Dranzer, visible in Kai's other hand.

The fusion wheel had a hairline fracture. Barely visible in the dim light. But there.

From the earlier battle.

"His bey is damaged," she whispered to Kyoya.

He grunted. Kept his eyes on Kai. "Dosen't matter right now."

Kai walked forward. Boots crunching on broken concrete. Each step deliberate. Measured.

Ignored everyone except Ryuga.

The Dragon Emperor watched him approach. Eyes narrowed. Calculating.

Then smiled. Interested.

"And you are?"

Kai stopped ten meters away. Set Gumball's carrier down carefully against an intact section of wall. The kitten's wide eyes watched through the mesh.

Safe. Out of range.

Kai straightened. Pulled Black Dranzer from his pocket. Felt the familiar warmth. The patient pulse.

Ready.

"Someone who wants to see if the Dragon Emperor lives up to the hype.... or just a loud-mouthed lizard."

Silence.

Then Ryuga laughed.

Ryuga's smile widened. "Bold words.

He raised his launcher. The purple aura flickered to life around him. L-Drago spinning slightly in anticipation.

"My L-Drago hasn't even had a snack yet! If you want to grovel at my feet, now's your only chance. Once the Dragon Emperor starts, there's no stopping him!"

Doji stepped forward. "Kai, your orders were to—"

"I'm done taking orders." Kai didn't look at him. Eyes locked on Ryuga. "I got what I needed from Dark Nebula."

Doji's expression hardened. "You can't just—"

"Watch me."

Kai's launcher rose. Black aura began to manifest around him—not purple, pure BLACK. Void-dark. Light died where it touched.

The phoenix stirred within Black Dranzer. Eager.

Doji opened his mouth. Stopped.

Looked at Ryuga. At Kai. At the space between them crackling with building pressure.

Stepped back.

This was beyond his control now.

***

"Three."

Ryuga's voice cut through the tension. Purple aura intensifying. L-Drago's presence growing—three dragon heads becoming visible as translucent outlines behind him.

"Two."

Kai's black aura exploded outward. Cold. Oppressive. The temperature dropped ten degrees instantly. Frost formed on metal surfaces.

Behind him—wings. Shadow-black. The phoenix beginning to manifest.

"One."

Both bladers' eyes locked. Ryuga's filled with predatory amusement. Kai's cold, analytical, hiding the hunger building beneath.

Behind them—the group watched. Barely breathing.

Gingka raised his head. Looked at Kai. At Ryuga. At the two forbidden powers about to collide.

Something twisted in his chest. Complex. Painful.

Guilt. Awe. Envy. Fear.

All of it swirling together.

"LET IT RIP!"

***

Both beyblades launched.

The sound was thunder. The impact immediate.

Black Dranzer and Lightning L-Drago hit the rooftop concrete simultaneously. Found each other instantly. Collided before either completed a full rotation.

CRASH.

The shockwave cracked concrete in radiating lines. Dust exploded outward. The entire building shuddered.

They separated. Circled. Repositioned.

Black aura met purple aura. The colors clashed—void-black flames against royal purple lightning. Where they met, the air distorted. Space itself seeming to bend from the pressure.

L-Drago attacked first.

Fast. Aggressive. Left-spin carving through the air like a bullet.

Black Dranzer shifted. Minimal movement.

CLANG.

Sparks flew. Both beyblades ricocheted. The floor beneath cracked deeper.

Kyoya was strong. Experienced. Deadly.

This was different.

L-Drago attacked again. Different trajectory. Same overwhelming force.

Dranzer countered. Redirected. Let momentum work against itself.

Another collision. Another spray of sparks. Another crack spreading through concrete.

The exchanges accelerated.

Strike. Counter. Dodge. Impact.

Neither gaining ground.

The rooftop floor spider-webbed with damage. Support beams groaned. Metal fixtures rattled loose from their moorings.

Kyoya watched with narrow eyes. "They're even."

Madoka nodded slowly. "Perfectly matched."

But for how long?

***

From Black Dranzer's spinning core—wings erupted.

The phoenix tore FREE.

Black feathers sharp as razors, each one reflecting no light—pure absorption. Body wreathed in flames that didn't illuminate, just consumed. Beak curved cruel and sharp. Eyes burning crimson that cast actual light despite the creature being made of darkness.

The phoenix spread its wings. Filled half the rooftop. Pressure radiating outward in waves.

Across the battlefield—L-Drago pulsed.

Three dragon heads emerged from the spinning beyblade.

Purple scales gleaming. Each head independent—one roaring, one watching, one lunging with predatory hunger.

The dragon coiled around L-Drago protectively. Massive enough to match the phoenix.

Two forbidden creatures.

Fully manifested from the first moment.

Ancient rivals recognizing each other across millennia.

The phoenix screeched. A wave of force that made ears pop and chests compress.

The three-headed dragon ROARED back. Bass-frequency vibration that rattled bones and made vision blur.

The atmospheric pressure shifted so violently that the pavement beneath Kenta's feet hairline-fractured. The very air looked like it was warping

Kenta dug his heels in, his eyes wide and reflecting the shimmering heat of the clash. "They're actually doing it".

Madoka didn't look away, though she was frantically tapping at her laptop, which was throwing up "Critical Overload" warnings."If they don't stop soon, the entire place will go down."

Benkei's voice was barely audible. "They're gonna destroy everything."

Kyoya said nothing. He stood like a statue in the eye of the storm, his coat snapping in the gale. He wasn't just watching a fight; he was witnessing a benchmark.

This is the level I need to reach.

The beyblades charged.

Done testing each other.

Black Dranzer shot forward like a bullet. The phoenix dove with it—wings folding, beak extended, claws out.

L-Drago launched to meet it. The three-headed dragon lunged—all three mouths open, fangs bared.

Purple lightning crackling in the sky.

They met center-rooftop.

***

The collision was cataclysmic.

BOOM.

The rooftop floor SHATTERED. Concrete exploded into fragments. Rebar twisted like taffy. An entire section collapsed into the floor below.

The shockwave knocked everyone backward. Kenta fell. Benkei hit a wall. Even Kyoya had to brace himself.

Black Dranzer and L-Drago locked together. Grinding. Shrieking. Fusion wheels screaming as they fought for dominance.

The phoenix's claws slashed at the dragon's heads. The dragons fangs snapped at the phoenix's wings.

Ethereal bodies colliding with physical force. Each impact creating visible pressure waves.

Then—

Both beyblades activated their absorption techniques simultaneously.

L-Drago's left-spin grabbed Black Dranzer's rotation. Pulled. The dragon's three heads inhaled—drawing energy like breathing.

Soul Drain activated in response. Black Dranzer's fusion wheel darkened further. Space around it distorted inward—reality bending toward the beyblade.

The two forces locked.

Pulling. Draining. Countering.

Neither gaining. Neither losing.

But the ENVIRONMENT paid the price.

The concrete beneath them began to turn to dust. From PRESSURE. The competing absorption fields grinding matter into powder.

Metal beams groaned. The entire structure trembling.

"They're destroying the foundation," Madoka said. Voice tight with fear. "If they don't stop—"

The building swayed.

Gingka forced himself to stand. Legs shaking. Looked at the battle.

Is this what real power looks like?

Is this what I need to become?

The thought was bitter. Terrifying.

Under Black Dranzer, relentless strikes.

Ryuga's smile hadn't faded. "You look like you've been through a meat grinder, boy. Is that supposed to be a Beyblade? It looks more like a toy for a toddler to throw a tantrum with."

Kai said nothing. Just watched. Analyzed.

The absorption is perfect. We're canceling each other out. This could go on until one of us collapses from exhaustion.

Or...

He felt it. The cold rising from his core. Black Dranzer's hunger transmitted through their connection.

We escalate.

The fracture in Black Dranzer's fusion wheel caught light. Visible even from here.

One more major impact and it might shatter completely.

Doesn't matter. End this now.

"Soul Drain—MAXIMUM."

Black Dranzer's fusion wheel went completely black. Light died absolutely where it existed.

The absorption field intensified. Space warped visibly around the beyblade.

Across from him—Ryuga's smile widened.

***

L-Drago's three heads turned toward Kai.

And he felt it.

Something reaching Deep into his chest.

The rage. The hunger. The bloodlust Dark Resonance created—

L-Drago was FEEDING on it.

Every ounce of negative emotion became fuel. Power flowing into the dragon like water into a drain.

Ryuga's purple aura EXPLODED outward. Doubled in intensity. The dragon's scales gleaming more like metal, eyes burning brighter.

Kai's eyes widened slightly.

It's using my darkness against me.

Ryuga Laughs maniacally said. Voice dripping with satisfaction. "Is that it? You call that 'Dark Power'? Don't make me laugh! L-Drago doesn't just take power—it devours it! Your bird is nothing but a caged snack for my dragon!"

Kai gritted his teeth.

Using my power to strengthen himself. Perfect.

Then I'll just have to hit HARDER.

His eyes bled fully crimson. The black aura erupted like a shockwave.

Dark Resonance—full activation.

The transformation was immediate.

Kai's thoughts sharpened. Tunnel vision on destruction. Black aura EXPLODED.

The phoenix screeched. Wings spreading to their maximum span. Body blazing with black flames that turned the air cold instead of hot.

From deep within its core—

White heat began to build.

Kai raised his voice. Unleashing everything.

"DESTROY HIM DRANZER"

"FULL POWER BLAZING GIGS."

***

The flames shifted.

Black collapsed inward—then detonated into white-hot plasma, shot through with veins of abyssal black. The temperature spiked so violently the concrete glowed red. Metal screamed as it warped.

The phoenix reared back. Wings spreading wide.

Its chest flared.

And from within its open beak—Black Dranzer locked into place, spinning violently, fusion wheel screaming as it fed power forward.

The air compressed.

Then—

The phoenix FIRED.

A sphere of condensed energy. White plasma core wrapped in black flames. Launched straight from Black Dranzer like a cannon round.

It screamed through the air. Burning wake. Heat so intense the atmosphere itself ignited.

Ryuga's eyes gleamed.

"Enough! It's time to end this little magic show! Dark Move: DRAGON EMPEROR SOARING BITE !"

The three-headed dragon ROARED.

All three mouths opened simultaneously. Purple lightning erupted from each one—converging into a single massive beam.

L-Drago launched forward within the beam. Spinning at maximum velocity. The dragon's body coiling around it protectively.

Purple lightning met white plasma.

For a fraction of a second—the energies touched.

And something STRANGE happened.

They didn't just collide.

They MIXED.

Purple bled into black. Black wrapped around purple. The boundary between them blurring.

A PULSE—barely perceptible—traveled down both connections.

Into L-Drago. Into Black Dranzer.

Neither Kai nor Ryuga noticed.

Too focused on the immediate destruction.

Then—

EXPLOSION.

The plasma sphere and lightning beam detonated simultaneously. Energy released in all directions at once.

White. Purple. Black. Red. All colors and NO colors.

The light swallowed everything.

The rooftop. The beyblades. The bit-beasts.

Everyone.

Kai's grin was wild. Feral. Eyes glowing crimson with the cold intensity of Black Dranzer

"You think you've won? Black Dranzer, Burn his arrogance to ashes!"

Across from him—Ryuga's smile was equally fierce. Predatory. Eyes turning white with the Dark Power

"Roar louder, L-Drago! Consume him! There is only room for ONE king of the dark, and you're looking at him!"

The group threw up their arms. Shielding eyes from the impossible brightness.

Gingka stared into the light. Unable to look away.

Face blank. Emotions churning.

Guilt. Awe. Envy. Fear.

What am I watching?

This isn't what Beyblade was supposed to be.

What have they become?

The light intensified.

Consumed everything.

And in the heart of the explosion—

Two forbidden powers colliding.

The light swallowed them all.

Slowly, as the light fades, the last thing we hear is the sound of the entire roof finally giving way.
