TONIA's POV
My hunger disappeared along with Lucien after our devastating conversation.
Fear gripped me, and a cruel whisper in my mind kept reminding me that my days might be numbered.
The sound of my door unlocking made me sit up straight, wondering who would visit at this hour.
The maids had delivered my meal not too long ago. So who could it be? Oh.
My breath caught in my throat. I swallowed nervously and stood as Kermit stepped inside.
He still wore his business attire, suggesting he was just returning home. But midnight had already passed. What kept him out so late?
Mind your own business, Tonia.
"Good evening," I whispered.
This was his first visit since he imprisoned me here. The cruelty of his actions still shocked me.
His gaze found the untouched dinner tray, and displeasure flickered across his features.
"Why isn't this eaten?" His tone was arctic.
"Nothing major. I just lost my appetite."
