The situation was spiraling out of control fast.
I stood in my kitchen, pulling a fresh batch of cookies from the oven when the devastating news arrived. Alpha Anthony was dead. The weight of those words hit me like a physical blow, and I nearly dropped the baking tray.
Kermit was already in full fury mode, preparing to fly out to investigate. He'd filled me in on the brewing conflict the night before, but now with a high-ranking Alpha murdered and Kylan as the prime suspect, everything had taken a deadly turn.
I made the decision to accompany him, but first I wanted to deliver these cookies to the children. Maybe it was a small gesture, but after everything that had happened between us, I needed to try.
Their mother was mercifully absent when I arrived at their wing of the house. Only the nannies were present, bustling around as the kids prepared for school. Kermit had mentioned speaking with them last night and suggested I bring them something this morning.
