Something was seriously messed up with me.

The trial had been brutal beyond anything I'd imagined. It would have broken most Alphas within the first hour.
Chad was tough enough to survive until the end, just like I did.
Everyone kept telling me how easy I made it look. They said I never showed a moment of weakness during the entire ordeal. But they had no clue what was happening inside my head.
While I was lifting weights that could have crushed my spine, every muscle in my body screaming for mercy, I wanted to quit. But one face kept flashing through my mind like a lifeline.
Those incredible green eyes of hers, bright and encouraging, silently begging me to keep going. When the pain became unbearable, I pictured how crushed those beautiful eyes would look if I gave up.
