The celebration exceeded every expectation I had harbored. Witnessing the genuine affection Kermit commanded from his pack members stirred something deep within my chest. The great hall buzzed with warmth as Shadowpeak's residents mingled freely, their laughter echoing off stone walls like music from a close-knit family gathering.
The kind of family bond I had never experienced myself.
"Well, look who's here, Luna." A familiar voice interrupted my observations.
I suppressed a groan as Lucien appeared at my elbow, his signature smirk firmly in place.
"Hello, dad." I raised my champagne flute toward my lips, only to have it intercepted mid-motion as Lucien claimed the drink for himself.
"I appreciate the respect you're showing me. Proves my guidance wasn't completely wasted on you."
"You're such a pain in the ass, Lucien." I delivered a playful punch to his shoulder. "Just getting here now?"
