TONIA's POV
Sleep found me wrapped in Kermit' protective embrace, but even then, peace remained elusive. My dreams twisted into nightmares where I stood completely alone, the entire world turned against me with hatred burning in their eyes. The terror followed me into consciousness when urgent knocking shattered the morning quiet.
I stirred to find the bed cold and empty beside me. Kermit had slipped away while I slept, probably handling the countless responsibilities that came with his new crown. The coronation night would have kept him busy until dawn.
The knocking persisted, sharp and demanding. I slid from beneath the covers but hesitated near the door, my heart hammering against my ribs. Something about the aggressive rhythm made my skin crawl.
"I know you're hiding in there, Tonia. Open this door immediately. We have urgent business to discuss."
Luna Estelle's voice cut through the wood like a blade.
