As if sensing my inner turmoil, Bradley rolled his eyes and reached for my hand once more. "I won't harm you. You have my word."
The feel of his fingers around mine made my stomach turn. Every instinct screamed at me to pull away, but I forced myself to comply and followed his lead.
Walking down the pathway, I noticed flower petals scattered deliberately along our route. The delicate blooms formed a trail that led directly to our destination. When we arrived, I saw a table positioned on the most extraordinary platform I had ever encountered.
Beneath our feet lay a massive aquarium serving as the floor. Schools of colorful fish swam gracefully below us - bright goldfish, electric blue neon tetras, and vibrant guppies creating a living carpet beneath the glass.
Nothing about this felt genuine. Bradley orchestrating such an elaborate gesture filled me with deep suspicion rather than wonder.
"Does this please you?" His voice carried an almost desperate hopefulness.
