Lucien and I parted ways after leaving the restaurant, each heading in opposite directions.
The moment I stepped through the front door of my family home, an unwelcome sight greeted me. Though calling it unwelcome wasn't entirely accurate since I'd been expecting this encounter.
Sterling sat in our living room, his attention fixed on his phone screen until I appeared. Then his gaze locked onto me with startling intensity.
"There you are. Finally decided to show up," Sabrina said with an exaggerated eye roll as she pushed herself up from the couch.
Sterling continued staring at me, his expression shifting to one of bewilderment.
"Wait. I recognize you," he said suddenly, his voice barely above a whisper. "You were at the airport."
I noticed how Sabrina's posture immediately stiffened, her discomfort radiating through the room.
