TONIA's POV
I stared down the corridor that led to the bedrooms. If I could make it there, I might find somewhere to lock myself in. But the distance felt impossible with him so close behind me.
"Please," I whimpered as he approached. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
His knuckles crashed into my cheek without warning. Stars exploded across my vision.
Damn it.
Blood from his wound had stained his fist, which meant my face was now a mess of smeared makeup and crimson.
His fingers tangled in my hair, yanking so viciously that I screamed.
"That was incredibly stupid, Tonia." His voice was a dangerous rumble against my ear.
"All I wanted was a conversation. But it seems you prefer things the hard way."
Terror flooded my system.
"Just release me!" I begged. "I never wanted to be here!"
"Why?" That twisted smile spread across his face. "Would you rather be with my brother instead? Are you that desperate to watch him lose?"
What was he talking about?
