Tonia's POV
Walking toward my apartment, satisfaction buzzed through my veins like electricity. My first day at AMC had ended on a note that filled me with purpose, even if I couldn't share the real reason for my contentment with anyone.
The hallway lights cast long shadows across the worn carpet as I approached my door. A figure leaned against the wall, barely visible in the dim lighting. My steps slowed as I squinted through the darkness.
"Lucien?" The name escaped my lips in disbelief.
He straightened, that familiar cocky grin spreading across his face. "Yes, my hopeless child! It is I!"
Without thinking, I rushed forward and threw my arms around him. The embrace lasted only moments before reality kicked in, and I pulled back with questions burning on my tongue.
"What are you doing here? It's late." My voice carried a mix of joy and concern. "And how exactly do you plan on getting back home?"
