Tonia's POV
My eyes sparkled with barely contained excitement. If I wasn't battling this illness, I would have laughed out loud at the irony.
"I appreciate your concern, Ariya, but that's completely unnecessary."
I flipped through the medical file with casual indifference. The suggestion was almost amusing.
"Are you certain? Because I have experience recognizing the signs of pregnancy."
My goodness. What on earth was she implying?
"Trust me, Ariya, pregnancy is impossible. If there was even the smallest possibility, I would be the first to know."
The conversation felt surreal. How could I be pregnant when intimacy had only happened recently?
"You speak as though you and the Alpha haven't been physically close," she observed with a knowing smile.
"That's not what I'm saying!"
Well, until recently, we actually hadn't been intimate.
"We've simply been cautious, that's all."
She nodded approvingly, and the awkward topic finally faded away.
