Peter (Earth-616) swung directly to Aunt May's house in Queens. Aunt May was both surprised and delighted by Peter's return, but also curious. Peter naturally gave Aunt May a general overview of what had happened to him; there was little need to hide it. And Aunt May was certainly trustworthy, otherwise Peter Parker's identity would have been exposed long ago.
Peter came back for two reasons: First, to visit and thank Aunt May again for her care, on behalf of Gwen and the other departing comrades. Second, to borrow the advanced equipment in this world's Peter Parker's underground base.
The base held many high-tech instruments, including equipment capable of analyzing materials. Peter planned to use this to test the metallic nanoparticles given to him by Madam Octopus. If the material proved safe, he intended to utilize it before heading back to his own universe.
Upon explaining his intentions, Aunt May handed him the key and told him to help himself. She then asked Peter what he would like for a late snack and went to the kitchen to prepare food. This gentle, domestic warmth felt like a pair of kind hands cradling Peter's heart, soothing him and dissipating the aggression he had accumulated from the recent intense battles.
Peter unconsciously smiled and whistled as he descended into the underground base. After spending a few days here, Peter had already grasped the basic operation and purpose of several machines—a testament to the enhanced memory and cognitive abilities granted by the spider-gene.
Peter soon reached a specific machine. This was the suit-making machine used by Spider-Man. One end of the machine resembled a sewing machine structure, connected to a computer on the other side. One would finalize the suit pattern via the computer, load the corresponding materials into the "sewing machine," and the machine would construct the suit according to the blueprint. The material type could also be specified at this stage.
Crucially, the "sewing machine" also contained analytical and self-diagnostic sensors, originally designed to check if the materials met the blueprint's requirements. For example, the Insulated Suit made to fight Electro needed to ensure no conductive materials were used. Peter now repurposed this system to check the tube of metallic nanoparticles for any hidden traps or hostile code.
After setting up the diagnostic program, the computer indicated the results would be ready in half an hour. He returned to the surface.
While most Americans don't have a regular supper habit, Aunt May knew Peter had just been through a huge battle and wanted him to eat something to settle his nerves. When Peter returned, Aunt May had already set out cookies, pastries, and milk on the table. Looking outside, the massive hole in the living room window was still visible. Despite their best efforts, Aunt May's house had suffered significant damage. Seeing this, Peter felt a pang of guilt. If they hadn't been here, Kingpin and his "Four Lieutenants" wouldn't have attacked, and her house wouldn't be damaged.
Hearing Peter's footsteps, Aunt May called out: "Come on, dear. These are the cookies and pastries Peter loved the most!" "Coming!" Peter called back brightly, quickly moving to the living room.
The cookies tasted great—likely baked by Aunt May herself, crispy and filled with rich milk flavor. It was no wonder the Peter Parker of this world loved them. While eating, Peter asked what would happen to the damaged house. Aunt May reassured him that the insurance company had already been by. The damage was covered as an accidental loss, and repairs would begin soon at no cost to her. Peter felt relieved.
After finishing his snack and helping Aunt May clean the dishes, the half-hour was up. Peter returned to the underground base. He quickly received the computer's test results. No problems detected!
Peter was delighted. He picked up the tube containing the metallic nanoparticles. Following Madam Octopus's instructions, he stripped off his clothes, leaving only the Spider-Suit, opened the tube, and poured the particles onto his hand.
The next moment, a miracle occurred. The nanoparticles slowly flowed out of the tube, seeming to come alive. They climbed up the Spider-Suit, quickly covering Peter's arms, then his torso... Soon, his entire body was coated.
After the suit was completely nano metalized, Peter stood in front of the mirror, carefully examining his reflection. He was extremely satisfied. The process only took a few minutes. On the surface, the suit looked the same, but upon closer inspection, it had a metallic sheen, reflecting the light subtly. The only omission was the mask, which remained the original polymer fiber. Since he had only metalized the suit, he didn't have the high-tech AI assistance of Holland-Spidey's Iron Spider Armor. If he metalized the mask, it would reform instantly whenever he put the suit on, making it impossible to remove the mask while wearing the suit. (All Spider-Man masks are separate from the main suit for quick removal).
But this was a minor issue. The head was the smallest target, and with his Spider-Sense, it was the least likely part to be seriously injured.
"Peter~" A surprised cry came from behind. Aunt May had come down into the base without Peter noticing, as he was too focused on the suit transformation. Seeing Peter turn around and seeing the face that was distinctly not her Peter's, Aunt May couldn't help but choke up.
Peter quickly walked over and gently hugged Aunt May. Aunt May held him tight, as if her own Peter had returned. The old woman had suffered immensely, losing her husband and then her nephew, whom she had raised like a son. It was the greatest tragedy a person could face.
After a long bout of weeping, Aunt May recovered, apologizing: "I'm sorry, dear. I just missed Peter, and I couldn't control myself for a moment." "Aunt May, you don't need to apologize. Peter wouldn't want to see you this sad," Peter was awkward at comforting the elderly but managed to compose his thoughts. "I will come and visit you again when I have the chance."
"Are you leaving too?" "Yes..." Peter paused. "I'm leaving tomorrow." "Then go and get some rest. Peter's room is the second on the left upstairs."
