Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Yohan was trapped—inside the prison walls, and even worse, inside his own mind.

How did the bullet pass through Headless? He hadn't missed, that much he knew. But then… how had it gone through the Angel?

A man stepped into the cell, his shadow spilling across the floor before his body did. He sat down across from Yohan, eyes cold and full of contempt.

"You won't escape from here alive, detective. You were the killer all along. I almost pity you."

The court had already passed its doubt. They declared Yohan unstable, unfit to stand trial, and handed his case to one of the world's most respected psychologists: Dr. Rowan Ellies.

Rowan entered the cell, his gaze softer than the officer's but lined with disbelief.

"How are you, old friend? What happened to you?"

Yohan's lips trembled. "The Angel… the Angel is real. Believe me or don't, but it's the truth."

Rowan buried his face into his palm with a sigh.

"You're making this harder than it needs to be. Talk straight, Yohan. What happened?"

Yohan's face turned pale, his voice breaking into fragments.

"The Angel… it burns him. The Angel inside the dead boy—he suffers, Rowan. He burns with the sins of the world."

Rowan shook his head slowly. "You sound like a madman. What Angel? What boy? None of this makes sense. Listen, I have other patients—I can't waste all my time here."

As Rowan stood, Yohan's hand shot out, gripping his arm like iron. His voice lowered, dangerous and desperate.

"Remember how I helped you pass your medical exam? You still owe me. And now it's time to pay me back. Help me escape this place."

Rowan froze. "…And why would I do that?"

Yohan tilted his head back, staring at the cracked ceiling as if the answer was written there.

"Because the killer is still out there. And I can't stop him from in here. If I don't, more will die."

Rowan studied his old friend, torn between doubt and duty. "You look insane… but at the same time, too sane to ignore. Give me time, Yohan. I'll decide."

He left the cell, heart heavy with conflict.

But time wasn't on his side.

Yohan's execution date was set—seven days.

Rowan was running out of options. He could either turn away, or throw a dart in the dark and risk everything.

And while Yohan was being led away in chains, hopeless, weaponless, and unable to even trust his own mind anymore—

Rowan made his decision.
