Chapter 112 - # Chapter 113: Reiji Akaba's Invitation

# Chapter 113: Reiji Akaba's Invitation

"If you don't believe me, ask them. Aren't these two cards very strong?" Yūga Hōzumi said to Fujiwara Xiu, pointing at Kaito and Serena.

"That's right, these two cards are indeed very strong," Kaito and Serena nodded after looking at the two hand traps.

Perhaps because their perspectives differed, the local duelists of the Synchro Dimension primarily evaluated a Tuner monster based on its ability to synergize with their deck to Synchro Summon powerful Synchro Monsters.

But in the eyes of duelists from other dimensions, especially top-tier duelists like Kaito and Serena, was being able to Tune really that important? These were disruption tools that could be activated directly from the hand during the opponent's turn!

Perhaps the only person in the entire Revolutionary Army camp who could see the value of the cards Fujiwara Xiu had created was Kiryu.

But what kind of deck did Kiryu use? Wouldn't stuffing his deck with hand traps just cause him to brick?

Yūga Hōzumi searched around the small room and managed to get three copies each of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit and Effect Veiler for the three of them. He then patted Fujiwara Xiu's shoulder. "Keep it up. I believe that once the card you've designed is released, the entire Duel Monsters environment will undergo a massive change."

Fujiwara Xiu nodded repeatedly. The main reason was that Yūga Hōzumi, a duelist no weaker than their leader, had recognized the cards he created. That alone was more encouraging to him than any motivational speech.

"I understand. Once this card is made, I'll send it to you immediately, Big Brother Yūga Hōzumi," Fujiwara Xiu said, pushing Yūga Hōzumi and the others out. "For now, don't waste my time here."

Watching Fujiwara Xiu, who seemed like a changed person, Yūga Hōzumi helplessly spread his hands and was obediently ushered out.

Yūga Hōzumi had sufficient respect and patience for researchers.

...

Back in the room the Revolutionary Army had prepared for them, Yūga Hōzumi planned to rest for a while, as there was still a meeting that evening.

But as soon as he lay down and stretched luxuriously, Yūga Hōzumi was scared half to death.

The reason was simple: anyone who had just lain down on their bed, only to look up and see a figure hanging upside down from the ceiling, blinking at them with a blank, innocent expression, would be scared half to death.

Fortunately, just as Yūga Hōzumi was about to scream, he recognized the person above him:

One of the Ninja Brothers who usually faded into the background beside Reiji Akaba, the older brother—Hiyage—who was supposed to have been turned into a card by the Academy on the Maiami Championship battlefield, but survived due to Yūga Hōzumi's intervention.

"What are you doing here?" Yūga Hōzumi's eyes widened.

"I followed you all the way here," Hiyage stated concisely.

"Are all you ninjas that incredible?" Yūga Hōzumi was astonished. After escaping Security's pursuit, they had been driving their D-Wheels around the Satellite of Neo Domino City for several hours! This guy managed to keep up just with his own two legs?

"Master Yūga Hōzumi, Master Reiji Akaba wishes to see you." Hiyage's exposed eyes showed no fluctuation at Yūga Hōzumi's praise.

"He wants to see me?" Yūga Hōzumi frowned.

"Alright, but it will have to wait until tomorrow." After a moment of thought, Yūga Hōzumi looked at Hiyage. "Before then, how about you stay here with me?"

As he spoke, Yūga Hōzumi picked up the Duel Disk lying nearby and put it on, clearly indicating he would forcefully keep Hiyage if he didn't agree.

There was no other choice. If Hiyage were simply allowed to leave, Reiji Akaba would discover the location of the Revolutionary Army's base.

Before understanding Reiji Akaba's intentions, Yūga Hōzumi didn't want to take any risks. After all, he had to be worthy of Kiryu's trust.

"This..." Hiyage looked troubled.

"What? You want to have a go?" Yūga Hōzumi's gaze instantly turned cold.

"Very well, I am at your disposal, Master Yūga Hōzumi. However, tomorrow, I must ask that you accompany me to meet Master Reiji." Remembering Reiji Akaba's instructions not to start a conflict with Yūga Hōzumi, Hiyage could only bow and indicate his compliance.

"See? Wasn't that easier?" Yūga Hōzumi nodded, his face breaking into a smile. "Have you eaten?"

Hiyage was somewhat bewildered by Yūga Hōzumi's rapid change of expression, and he shook his head blankly.

"You haven't? Let me tell you, you can't go on a mission on an empty stomach. Here, have this rice ball to tide you over, and then come eat with me." Yūga Hōzumi pulled a rice ball from his pocket and handed it to the bewildered Hiyage, simultaneously putting an arm around his shoulder and walking towards the farm's mess hall.

As if coerced, Hiyage entered the farm's mess hall with Yūga Hōzumi. As luck would have it, they ran into Kiryu, who had just finished his duties and had come for a meal.

Seeing Yūga Hōzumi arrive, Kiryu slapped his forehead. "Right, I completely forgot! You guys haven't eaten yet, have you? I'll have someone send some food over."

"No need for the trouble, we'll eat whatever's available," Yūga Hōzumi said, waving his hand.

"And who is this?" Kiryu asked curiously, looking at Hiyage, whom Yūga Hōzumi seemed to have under subtle control.

Yūga Hōzumi truthfully explained Hiyage's identity to Kiryu.

"So, the Standard Dimension has already arrived in Neo Domino City?" Kiryu mused. "It seems they intend to side with The Top Echelons?"

"Who knows? That guy's always so cryptic," Yūga Hōzumi shrugged. "As for what he really wants, I'll only find out after I meet him tomorrow."

"You're going to meet him?" Kiryu frowned.

"I have no choice. I'm already working with the guy, and I can't rest easy until I'm sure which side he's on," Yūga Hōzumi sighed. Honestly, aside from when he was getting cards from him, he truly disliked dealing with the cryptic Reiji Akaba.

"However, we should still prepare to relocate. If I don't come back tomorrow, move the base immediately," Yūga Hōzumi said, his smile fading as he grew serious.

"Gentlemen, Master Reiji Akaba does not wish to oppose you," Hiyage, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up.

"What do you mean?" Yūga Hōzumi frowned, releasing his grip on Hiyage.

"Although I do not understand Master Reiji's intentions," Hiyage said, "he was the one who intervened to conceal the identity of Shinji Weber, the member of your army who was captured by Security."

"What exactly does he want?" Yūga Hōzumi's brows furrowed, trying to analyze the thoughts of that scarf-wearing boy who liked to sit in a chair and speak in riddles.

"Don't overthink it," Kiryu suddenly interrupted Yūga Hōzumi's thoughts. "Tomorrow, I'll go with you to meet this leader of the Standard Dimension." Then, Kiryu looked at Hiyage. "Is that a problem?"

"This..." Hiyage hesitated to nod. After a moment, he made a hand signal toward the outside of the mess hall.

...

I played Master Duel all day today, spent cash on three Odd-Eyes structure decks to build a 'Guang Shi Jin' variant, and I've almost got all the cards.

I won't be streaming. My junk computer at home already lags a bit when I play, so trying to stream would make it unplayable.

If you want a stream, maybe I'll stream Duel Links on my phone for everyone during the New Year. The Phantom Knights are coming out soon, and I've already saved up over 20,000 gems.

My take on Master Duel is that Japanese Drytron players are really bad; their end boards are about as strong as a compromised board from a Chinese player.

I'm guessing Drytron is going to get hit on the next Forbidden & Limited list.
