Chapter 423 - Chapter 100: Equipment Testing 6

Mercer finished speaking, unable to resist adding, "I bet, when V applied for AI permissions, she agreed without even thinking about it.

I'm really worried that one day a hacker will send her a message, 'I'm A, transfer me 50,000 Euros,' and she'd dumbly transfer the money immediately."

"Haha~ The stuff you give her she wouldn't doubt at all." Pira laughed heartily, trying to smooth things over. He didn't dare get involved in the interactions between Mercer and V.

Rebecca glanced at him with a sidelong look, her armor's tactical goggles flashing a dangerous red light: "Oh~ turns out I wasn't trustworthy enough..."

"Uh..." Pira was momentarily speechless.

The cars, full of laughter, drove towards the Evil Land, and it wasn't until they were surrounded by barren land that someone finally asked where their destination was.

[V: Where are we going for the test? It looks like we're heading to Stone Ridge Mountain?]

[Mercer: How can we test gear without opponents? The base of the Chaotic Blade Association, local gangsters who call themselves the Night Wanderer Ghosts, is near Stone Ridge Mountain. We'll find their hideout to test our weapon systems.]

[V: Damn! Real combat? But I didn't bring anything!]

[Mercer: Are you dumb? You're here to test weaponry, what do you need to bring?]

[V: ...]

She didn't reply.

What's up with this girl? She seems to be getting dumber, becoming a stark contrast to the increasingly mature Rebecca and Lucy, even Kyoko.

No way, I'll have to drag her to Old Wei later for a test, hopefully she hasn't fallen below an intelligence score of 6?

Or is it due to overdeveloped muscles?

He couldn't help but laugh; fortunately, V sent the message privately. If it were in a group chat, she'd probably be closed off by now.

The car quickly arrived at the designated location. Polaris autonomously parked the car, and then Mercer led the crowd to orderly get off on a hillside.

He gazed into the distance and quickly spotted a cluster of abandoned buildings about three kilometers away by the roadside.

"According to the intel, over there is a base of the Night Wanderer Ghosts. Normally, a group of them like to hang out there, rob passing cars, or rest there after doing dirty work.

V, Rebecca, the guys inside are all yours... here, take these big babies and try them out."

As Mercer spoke, he opened the van's rear door. Rebecca jumped out, landing with a tremor that could be felt.

"I feel like I've grown taller, it's a bit uncomfortable..." Rebecca awkwardly turned to look at Mercer, bouncing on the ground a couple of times.

"Mainly because if your armor were any lower, you'd look like a steel ball." Before Pira could finish, he was startled by a shoulder-mounted missile launcher automatically locking on from Rebecca's shoulder, raising his eyebrows.

"Damn, don't scare people with that!" Pira ducked behind Mercer, and sure enough, the launcher retracted from her shoulder, canceling the aim.

Rebecca snorted, then excitedly said, "Can I fly now?"

"Yes, first fly low to get a feel for it. It's not difficult because the AI will automatically adjust the output of the thrusters to keep you balanced. It can understand how you want to fly through your thought data—damn, wait for me to finish speaking!"

Before Mercer could finish, a blue flame erupted from Rebecca's back, her heels were on fire, and with a whoosh, she was in the air.

She screamed, but she quickly stabilized herself, standing upright in mid-air.

Just before Rebecca could say a few words excitedly, a white shadow suddenly shot into the sky beside her.

V let out a whoop and, in the blink of an eye, whipped up a gust of wind and soared high, not pausing at all, quickly reaching dozens or even a hundred meters high.

Rebecca hesitated for a moment: "Damn, what if I lose thrust midway?"

"Each of your four engines is independently controlled. The AI can guarantee a single-engine landing. If all four fail, you have an emergency one-time small parachute on your back. Uh... if the parachute doesn't open, then you're out of luck."

Mercer said, shrugging: "Fly at low altitude. Your armor isn't meant for high-altitude maneuvers, and the endurance is only ten minutes."

Rebecca glanced at V, who was flying back and forth in the air, exclaiming in the team voice channel, and finally couldn't help it. After turning on all the engines, she too took to the sky.

She was initially a bit nervous but soon burst into excited laughter.

The others standing beside Mercer were extremely envious.

"Damn... this must be more thrilling than riding a motorcycle!" Jack muttered to himself.

Mann's tactical goggles were glowing as he marveled: "This kind of mobile single-soldier armor would be invincible in urban warfare, with all those high-rise buildings, small size, and speed, ordinary anti-aircraft missiles wouldn't be able to lock on."

"Essentially, flying capability is for travel and emergency evasive maneuvers. These two sets of armor were originally designed to facilitate ground combat."

Mercer said, watching them fly enough, he quickly called them down, especially Rebecca, who could only fly for about ten minutes.

V made a graceful superhero landing, hitting the ground hard and creating a deep pit, yet she nimbly stood up, touched her knees, and exclaimed excitedly, "It really doesn't hurt at all!"

The nano-metal cushioning delighted her immensely. Given her superman-like physical condition, she even felt she could jump directly from twenty meters high without getting hurt.
