Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Hawk Snatches and Dashes

How quickly can a building collapse?

The answers vary.

But here, at the Quantico Military Base, the Gamma Experiment Building, already damaged by Bruce Banner's gamma explosion encounter, could no longer hold together and began to collapse with a massive explosion suddenly erupting from below.

In less than five seconds, the three-story Gamma Experiment Building completely turned into ruins.

The dust roared, clanging against the surrounding iron sheets.

The iron sheets echoed with a rumbling noise.

And the emergency response team soldiers, who were just about to rush in to kill the intruder, quickly retreated and silently swallowed their saliva as they watched the experiment building turn into ruins in a blink.

Nothing else.

Because if they had gone in a few seconds earlier, they would have been buried with the Gamma Experiment Building.

But after the shock and relief, the team members all turned their gaze to their captain.

"Number 1, what now?"

"... How the hell should I know."

After being silent for a while, the emergency captain said speechlessly, "Let's pull back."

The team members were stunned.

"Uh!"

"Uh, crap, it's all collapsed. What else can we do, dig up the intruder's body?"

The emergency captain rolled his eyes.

He expected a fierce battle.

But...

Unexpectedly, it ended so abruptly and inconclusively.

At this moment, the lieutenant colonel, who had just phoned General Thaddeus Ross to report, arrived here in a jeep.

"Number 2, stand down."

"Yes!"

The emergency captain said to his deputy, casually gripping the assault rifle as he walked toward the lieutenant colonel.

The lieutenant colonel didn't wait for the emergency captain to salute, his gaze falling on the ruins of the Gamma Experiment Building, still spreading dust: "What happened."

The emergency captain shook his head: "Honestly, I'm not entirely clear, but I'm sure there was only one intruder."

Then the emergency captain recounted what the experiment personnel who fled from the building knew, then spoke about how he was preparing to lead the team inside when the building collapsed.

After hearing there was only one intruder, the lieutenant colonel's expression turned dazed.

"Are you sure, just one?"

"Yes."

"Motherf*cker..."

The lieutenant colonel instinctively cursed, feeling absurd: "Seriously, just one guy, what was he thinking."

Quantico Military Base has had intrusions before.

But...

Those overseas groups always come in teams, and most don't even get past the real base gates before being cornered.

But regardless, they understand that Quantico Base is a team dungeon.

Wow.

You came here solo?

What were you thinking?

The lieutenant colonel found it hard to comprehend.

The emergency captain shrugged and then glanced at the collapsed Gamma Experiment Building, considering a possibility: "Maybe it was a suicide mission. The target was the experiment building, not planning on going back."

Upon hearing this, the lieutenant colonel thought, then nodded.

"That explanation is feasible."

"Damn!"

"I reported to the general, should've held back."

While nodding, the lieutenant colonel's face changed suddenly, recalling his urgent call to General Ross earlier, feeling regret.

If he'd known the intruder was suicidal, he wouldn't have called.

Uh...

At least not so urgently. Now he had to call again.

The lieutenant colonel thought, sighed inwardly, then instructed his deputy next to him to notify Base Control Room to lift the alert, while taking out his phone again to call his superior, General Thaddeus Ross.

The phone quickly connected.

"Report!"

"General, the intruder is dead."

"Dead?"

Prompting his driver to hurry to Quantico, General Thaddeus Ross hesitated again.

"What happened."

"We still don't know the intruder's identity, but it was just him. The Gamma Building collapsed; we suspect suicide miss—"

"Boom!"

"Holy sh*t!"

As the lieutenant colonel reported to General Thaddeus Ross, a thunderous roar suddenly erupted from the Gamma Building ruins.

Next second.

He saw a figure emerging from the ruins under the spotlight, stunned.

Standing nearby, the emergency captain gasped in disbelief.

But soon, he reacted.

"Enemy attack."

"Fire, fire!"

As the emergency captain first reacted, the team members, just about to stand down, also came to senses, aiming their guns at the shadow lurking amidst the smoke in the ruins, pulling their triggers.

Meanwhile.

The invasion alert just lifted at the base started blaring again.

The ear-piercing alarm made soldiers who'd just assembled to disassemble flash a hint of bewilderment in their eyes.

What's happening?

Wasn't the alarm lifted? Why is it blaring again?

As they contemplated whether the base control center had pressed the wrong button, the sudden gunfire made them realize one thing.

"Sh*t!"

"Another invasion."

"Quick, quick, quick!"

"Bang, bang, bang!"

Hawk's figure flickered back and forth atop the ruins of the Gamma Experiment Building.

Underneath, the last strand under his Little Cosmos pull was tucked away.

Hawk then looked forward at the soldiers continuously shooting at him, and not far away, those coming towards him.

And...

The rumbling tanks approaching here and the armed helicopter slowly ascending with rotor thumps.

Clearly.

This stirred up quite the hornet's nest.

But...

The task is done, next, find somewhere to consume the gains from this mission.

Hawk thought, then looked around at the dispersing dust, raised an eyebrow, not lingering, bent his knees, and with the rubble cracking under his feet, shot skyward like a rocket.

Next second.

Under the searchlight pursuit, he drew a graceful trajectory in the air, landing with a swoosh in the forest outside the base.

Okay.

The rapid mission is completed, time for the next task.

The wind calls for escape!!!
