Pov: Vik
This lizard's head was larger than a crocodile's and looked more menacing. At first, I thought I was seeing a dinosaur. But soon, its whole body emerged, revealing a huge dragon with silver skin, strong forelimbs, and two obsidian horns on its head. It was a classic western dragon, complete with two wings on its back.
Xia Yang, standing to the side, looked at the dragon and said, "Silver, these guys are now yours to tackle."
When I heard the name Silver, everything fell into place. Just as I had returned to my original self after arriving in this world, Lin Chen's beast companion, Silver, must have faced the same change. But unlike me, she was a dragon, and now we had to fight this two-story tall giant lizard.
Sigh! I should have brought that heavy-caliber gun. I regretted leaving it outside. Still, I figured some grenades might do the job. I looked at my disciple but couldn't speak, so I wrote in the ground, "Disciples, today is special. After spending so much time in this world, I am finally going to hunt a dragon."
As I wrote this, I glanced back at the dragon. My reptilian eyes met hers, and with that, I felt a surge of excitement. I was going to experience a classic dragon hunt in another world.
I originally imagined that after being reincarnated, I would face a dragon in battle while wearing a silver knight suit and wielding a golden sword, shouting hymns of justice. But now, I found myself in a situation where I couldn't even speak. I had to fight a dragon as a giant snake.
This heaven-suppressing zone dashed all my dreams of a legendary dragon fight. Calming my internal anger, I quickly moved away as Silver struck the ground with her tail. She was focused on Lu Xiaoran and Roman, while I dodged her tail here and there.
A silver lining was that she was ignoring me. Targeting Lu Xiaoran, she swiped her claw at him, but he dodged just in time. Seeing the danger, Roman drew his pistol and fired successive rounds at her claw, which barely affected her tough scales.
While they fought, I slowly crept back into the bushes, where I found Lu Ran. I had told him to hide there as a backup. My plan was paying off. When he saw me, he pulled out his bow and arrow, eager to join the fight. I stopped him by signaling with my tail and then wrote on the ground.
Vik: "Lu Ran, you don't need to join the fight. Just convey my message to Lu Xiaoran and Roman. Tell them to use assault rifles and target the dragon's eyes. Once she's blind, we will engage in battle."
He understood and shouted from the bushes, conveying my message. Upon hearing this, Lu Xiaoran quickly put away his pistol and took out an AK from his back, followed by Roman. They began targeting the dragon's eyes while dodging her attacks, but it wasn't easy. Silver was moving quickly, making it hard for them to land a hit.
I crawled silently closer to the dragon while avoiding her legs and tails. Soon, I reached her leg and then started crawling up her massive body. She must have sensed me because she shook to dislodge me and tried to catch me with her claws. But my disciples kept firing at her eyes, forcing her into a defensive position. However, that wouldn't last long since we were running low on bullets. Once we ran out of ammunition, we would need to get away.
I quickly climbed to a spot above her horns, looking for a place to sink my teeth in. As a snake, my best weapon was my venom. I just needed to bite her to inflict poison.
But I found no weak spot; even the upper and lower parts of her head were covered in scales. Then, taking a risk, I crawled in front of her face, barely clinging to her eyebrows. I spat my venom into her left eye. I'm a type of snake similar to a King Cobra, so I can spit venom in a stream over a distance.
When it hit her, she let out a long, painful scream and struck out with her claw, knocking me off her horns. I had anticipated the impact and took precautions, sustaining only minor injuries.
Now blind in her left eye, Silver glared at us with rage and roared. It was a terrifying sound. Then she opened her mouth. A pungent sulfuric smell wafted from it. Sensing trouble, I quickly hid behind a tree, and as expected, a long stream of fire shot from her mouth. Luckily, my disciples and I narrowly dodged it.
Still furious, she opened her mouth again to spit fire. This time, I was prepared. As she opened her mouth, I spat a long stream of venom straight into her mouth. When my venom hit, her mouth closed as if she felt immense pain, and her tongue must have been burning from it. Unable to spit fire anymore, she began swinging her claws and tail in a frenzied state.
Slowly, my venom started to take effect, and her movements became sluggish. After a minute, she struggled to maintain her combat stance. I signaled to Lu Ran again with my tail, and he fired an arrow. This arrow was special; it held a grenade at the front.
Fortunately, both Lu Xiaoran and Roman had grenades as well. We hadn't planned to use them, but they proved useful. The arrow flew through the air, striking her face. With a blast, half of the dragon's face was obliterated, ending the combat and taking her life.
After the fight, my disciples and I caught our breath, exhausted from constant dodging and attacking. But then I noticed that Xia Yang, who had been outside, was now missing. She must have entered the cave shrine. Just as I thought of going in, a slight earthquake occurred.
Damn! We had wasted too much time out here. Lin Chen must be close to acquiring that treasure.
