Mewtwo is an exceptionally unique Pokemon, aside from its origin story, its MEGA Evolution also differs from ordinary Pokemon.
Normally, only a few Pokemon have the qualifications for MEGA Evolution, and they can only evolve into one form, but Charizard possesses two MEGA Evolution forms, X and Y.
Just like Charizard, Mewtwo has two MEGA Evolution forms. The Y form, like Charizard, enhances Special Attack to an extreme degree, while the X form, like Charizard, is a dual-sword form!
The X-evolved Mewtwo doesn't look as good as the Y form; its body is layered with muscle-like features, certainly not as aesthetically pleasing as Y form.
However, the X form of Mewtwo gets a qualitative leap in physical abilities. In this form, Mewtwo has both Fighting Type and Psychic Type attributes, which is why Champion Ash chose this form.
The Fighting Type is the nemesis of the Dark Attribute. Although Lugia has Flying-type attributes, the current issue with Lugia is mainly caused by Yveltal's power, so using Fighting Type power to suppress it is a fair strategy.
"Evo... evolved? Can that guy still evolve?" Pluton had never seen Mewtwo's original form; he only saw Mewtwo in the Y form. Now, seeing Mewtwo evolving into another MEGA form seemed like evolving from its base form to Pluton.
In fact, besides Pluton, everyone else felt the same since Mewtwo didn't revert to its original form but directly transitioned into the X form, leading anyone to believe it had evolved into a new form.
Even Cynthia and others initially thought Mewtwo had progressed beyond MEGA Evolution to another level of evolution, making them wonder what kind of evolution could surpass a MEGA Evolution.
However, as Cynthia calmed down, she quickly realized this might not be a new evolution but rather another MEGA Evolution form, just like how Charizard has two MEGA forms, and so does Mewtwo.
"Two MEGA Evolution forms? Mewtwo truly is a very unique Pokemon. Created by Team Rocket, yet possessing a MEGA Evolution Stone and the ability to evolve... What kind of existence is it?" Cynthia gazed at Mewtwo, her beautiful eyes filled with deep curiosity.
In addition to being the Sinnoh Champion, she is also an experienced archaeologist, very interested in unknown legends and such. A Mewtwo, an Artificial Pokemon, yet possessing MEGA Evolution resembling ancient forebears, naturally piqued her curiosity.
But now is not the time to research Mewtwo; resolving the current crisis is the priority.
"Sorry, Lugia, it might get a bit rough, hang in there! Mewtwo, use Close Combat!" Champion Ash ordered coldly, determined to have Mewtwo make a full assault and dispel the Dark Power within Lugia.
If it were to escape, it would be a significant issue, and Ash would be letting himself down. He had come all this way to solve a problem for another version of himself, leaving a big mess would be too embarrassing.
"Lugia, Aeroblast!!" Pluton realized Ash's intentions. He released Yveltal's power at once, initially planning to have Lugia help them escape, but now, turning the back on Mewtwo might result in a spine-shattering punch, so confronting head-on to block the attack was the only option.
Enveloped in Yveltal's Dark Power, Lugia let out a deep roar, with scarlet eyes void of intelligence, filled only with a fierce destructive desire.
Upon receiving Pluton's command, it flapped its wings, creating a sky-shaking air current. Its immense wings moved at a speed indiscernible to the naked eye, stirring the surrounding air into chaotic vortices, with pale blue cyclones forming in front of it accompanied by a piercing sonic boom!
This iteration of Aeroblast was far stronger than before. Initially, Lugia could forcefully suppress its attack with its own will, but now, its rationality was completely subdued, and its power further enhanced.
Thus, this Aeroblast, compared to the prior one, wasn't in the same category at all.
The spinning airflow turned into a substantial massive drill, carrying the force to tear steel apart, rushing fiercely toward Mewtwo. Where the cyclone passed, ground rocks were instantly lifted and crushed, the cloud layers in the sky were torn open into a gap!!
From afar, a blue barrier shimmered in front of Cynthia and the others. Even though they were at a safe distance, in this divine battle, even a small island could be easily obliterated. As long as they stood on this island, they'd be affected by the aftermath.
Fortunately, before the battle, Lorelei had already notified the people on Asia Island to move towards the other side. If they were on the side or the center of the island where the battle ensued, they could have been pressed into fine dust by such terrifying wind pressure.
