Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: The First Council

The Great Hall felt different that day.

Not like a place of learning. Not like a home.

But like a throne room.

Long tables had been cleared, replaced by a circular formation of stone seats—each carved with runes of authority, binding, and truth. At the center, a raised platform stood, etched with ancient magic that pulsed faintly beneath the surface.

Power gathered here.

Real power.

Families that had ruled magic in shadows for generations now stood in the open, their heirs, their leaders, their ambitions all brought together under one roof.

The first Magic Council had been formed.

I stood at my place—one of the three central positions.

To my right, Salazar Slytherin, calm and cold, his presence like a coiled serpent ready to strike.

To my left, Godric Gryffindor, arms crossed, posture relaxed but eyes sharp, like a warrior waiting for a challenge.

And me?

Between them.

As always.

The hall filled quickly.

The Blacks arrived first—proud, composed, their magic refined and controlled. Then the Malfoys—wealth evident even in this era, their presence polished, calculating. The Longbottoms, sturdy and resolute. The Potters, already carrying that quiet, stubborn strength.

And many more.

Old names.Future legends.

Some I recognized from history. Some I would help shape into it.

Luna stood among them.

Not at the very front—but not far from it either.

Good.

She belonged here.

A low murmur filled the chamber as everyone took their places. Students—our students—stood beside ancient families, an unspoken statement echoing through the room:

Power mattered. Not just blood.

That alone was revolutionary.

Godric stepped forward first.

His voice carried easily, strong and clear.

"We are here because the world is changing."

Silence fell instantly.

"No longer will magic be scattered. No longer will families hide in fear or fight alone. Hogwarts stands as a foundation—and from it, we build something greater."

A pause.

"Unity."

Some nodded. Others remained still.

Not everyone liked that word.

Salazar stepped forward next.

Where Godric was fire, he was shadow.

"Unity," he repeated, voice smooth. "Is only useful if it is strong."

His gaze swept the room.

"We are surrounded by enemies. Muggles who fear us. Wizards who would tear us down. Weakness will get us killed."

A subtle shift in the room.

Fear. Agreement. Resistance.

All of it mixed.

"We must be decisive. Ruthless when necessary. Survival is not given—it is taken."

Then—

All eyes turned to me.

Of course they did.

The balance.

I stepped forward slowly, my presence quiet—but the magic around me… wasn't.

It bent.

Subtly. Naturally.

As if acknowledging something greater.

"The two of them are right," I said simply.

That caught attention immediately.

"We need unity. And we need strength."

I let my gaze move across the room, meeting eyes one by one.

"But what we don't need… is division."

A pause.

"Not between families. Not between students. And not between ideologies."

Salazar's lips twitched slightly. Godric huffed quietly.

Good. They were listening.

"The Magic Council," I continued, "exists for one purpose."

I raised a hand slightly, magic flickering faintly at my fingertips.

"To ensure the survival… and advancement… of magical society."

Not dominance.Not control.

Advancement.

"That means power will be rewarded. Talent will be nurtured. And those who prove themselves—regardless of origin—will have a place here."

A ripple went through the room.

That was the line.

The thing that separated this council from the old world.

One of the older members of the Black family stood.

"And who decides that?" he asked calmly. "Who determines who is worthy?"

I smiled slightly.

"We do."

A simple answer.

But not the whole truth.

"The Council will be divided into three factions," I continued.

I gestured lightly.

"Salazar leads the Dark faction. Strength, ambition, control."

A few approving nods.

"Godric leads the Light faction. Courage, honor, protection."

More nods.

"And I…"

I paused for just a moment.

"…lead the Neutral faction."

A faint smile touched my lips.

"Balance. Knowledge. Progress."

"The three factions will keep each other in check," I added. "No single ideology will dominate. Decisions will be made through power, influence, and consensus."

In other words—

A controlled battlefield.

A younger voice spoke up this time.

One of our students.

"What happens if the factions disagree?"

A dangerous question.

I answered without hesitation.

"Then we resolve it."

"How?"

I met their gaze.

"…However necessary."

Silence.

Heavy.

Meaningful.

Luna watched me the entire time.

And unlike the others—

She wasn't intimidated.

She was… impressed.

That made something in my chest tighten slightly.

Salazar leaned slightly toward me, speaking low enough that only I could hear.

"You're building something dangerous."

I didn't look at him.

"So are you."

A faint smirk. "Fair."

Godric stepped forward again, raising his voice.

"Then it's decided."

He looked around the room.

"The Magic Council stands."

Magic surged.

Not violently—but powerfully.

The runes beneath the chamber activated, binding the moment into reality.

This wasn't just a meeting.

It was a declaration.

A foundation.

A turning point.

As the meeting dissolved into quieter discussions, alliances forming and tensions brewing beneath the surface, I stepped back slightly.

Watching.

Analyzing.

Planning.

Because this?

This wasn't just politics.

It was the beginning of something far greater.

A system.

A structure.

A world that I could shape.

Luna approached me quietly once things settled.

"You handled that well," she said softly.

I glanced at her, a small smile forming. "Of course I did."

She rolled her eyes slightly, but smiled anyway.

"You're terrifying, you know that?"

"…Good."

She laughed quietly.

And as I looked around the hall—

At the families. At the students. At the founders.

—I realized something.

This world…

Was no longer just something I lived in.

It was something I was building.
