Chapter 2 - First Day in a different World

Sir Morgrave Are you okay? I heard screaming earlier. the head butler, Herman, asked with concern.

Yeah, I'm fine. just had a nightmare Herman, all is well.

Ah, then my worries were unfounded. I was coming soon anyway, Sir Morgrave. Should I call for some tea?

Yes, please, and come back in an hour; I have some questions for you, Herman.

Yes, of course, Sir Morgrave.

Alex had one lingering thought in his mind he wasn't so sure about because he got no memories of it from the god: who was he, and where is his family?

After drinking the tea a servant brought and waiting an hour in his room, Herman knocked on the door.

Come in, Herman. I was waiting for you.

"I hope I wasn't too late, sir," and then he bowed.

No, not at all, actually. I have some questions for you. I don't seem to recall

Do I have any family around?

S Sir M. Morgave Are you sure you are fine? Should I call for a doctor? How can't you remember!

Actually, I can't remember yesterday. I hit my head hard while going for a walk, and since then everything has been quite foggy up there, his finger pointing to his head. So please explain it to me.

W Well, I will call the doctor just to be safe, but if you insist, while waiting for him, I will tell you about it.

2 years ago your father, your only remaining family member, rushed into the mountains after being informed of a strong beast advancing towards your family's land, but after 2 weeks had gone by, he never came back, so we sent the scouts to search for him, but they only found part of his torso bitten to shreds by the beast. He sighed quietly.

"Goddamn, what a gruesome death that old man must have had. I hope he rests well now," Alex thought.

Oh, thanks, Herman. And what of my mother? I can't remember. I'm sorry.

Well, your mother died in childbirth 19 years ago; you are the only child of Merlyn and Roselinde Morvane.

And now excuse me, sir, but I have to drag the doctor here myself. If he is any slower, I'm going to beat him to death. I'm going to be right back. Herman hurried out of the room.

After 20 minutes and a lot of thinking on Alex's part, the doctor arrived, a rather small, fat man with sweat all over his face.

I'm here, Sir Morgrave. I came as fast as I could. Now let me examine you quickly before anything bad happens.

Alex, playing along, lay down on the bed and let himself be examined for roughly 2 hours.

Hmm, all seems well, Sir Morgrave. Pupils steady, no fever, and you said you feel good, but just to be sure, no exercise for a week.

"Yes, I will, Doctor. Thanks for coming. You may leave now, but Herman, you stay. I have something to ask of you," Alex said.

Herman I want you to not talk about my injury to anyone else and also bring me to the study; I have to check some things.

Herman nodded, then bowed and showed Alex the way. They walked through a long corridor until they stopped in front of a large wooden door.

Thanks, Herman. You may leave now; I will call you when I need you.

The butler bowed and then left Alex in the study.

Alex's thoughts swirled for a good while until he thought about his system again.

SYSTEM OPEN!

[Host: Alex Morgrave]

[Title: Patriarch of House Morgrave, Baron]

[Age: 19]

[Race: Human]

[Bloodline: None]

[Power Stage: Unawakened]

[Talent: None]

[Skills: None]

[Inventory]

[Shop]

Hmm, can this system talk, Alex thought?

"Yes, Host," came a mundane voice in his head.

What? You can actually talk? I thought the God was joking, but it's a nice surprise. I have some questions for you as well. System, can you answer them for me?

The aloof voice of the system chimed, "Yes, host, any questions regarding the system or yourself, I can answer."

Alex: (⸅⸟⸄) (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

YOU WANT TO TELL ME THAT ALL THE QUESTIONS I HAD FOR HERMAN WERE USELESS AND YOU COULD HAVE ANSWERED THEM?!!!!

Yes, Host, I could have answered them.

That's bad. I have to do better than that; there won't be a next time where something risky like that happens.

So, for starters, system, what is your name so we get to know each other better?

Host, since you created me, the God gave you the naming rights.

Hmm, then I will call you Absolute Morgrave System, Alex thought.

Then from now on that shall be my name, the System Voice.

System, tell me more about your functions and what I can do right now.

Understood, Host. I will start to explain the many functions of the system you have access to.

1. Titles may give boosts to your stats, buffs, or multipliers to you or others you deem worthy.

2. Shop: You can buy skills. Bloodline Talents and any items in general

You will get something for free at random every week.

4. Self-generated quests that sometimes pop up: you can gain power for your power stage.

5. Inventory is pretty self-explanatory; you can store anything you desire in it.

Some features have not been unlocked yet; you have to meet the conditions to do so.

That's an awesome system, so one more question: do you have the gift pack I asked the god to include?

Yes, host, I have it. Do you want to open it? Open the system. Alex said happily.

Gift Pack opened. Rewards given:

1x SSS-RANK Comprehension Talent

1x SSS-RANK All-Seeing Eyes Skill

1x Power Stage rank up

1x Swordmage class

W…T…F Alex thought he already knew what the system was capable of, but he didn't know that he would be so lucky with the gift pack. He thought he would get some mediocre skill and talent, but he never could have believed that he would get something like this from the start.

System I knew you wouldn't leave me hanging. Thank you.

Host, the rewards are random; it had nothing to do with me.

Yeah, yeah, sure, Alex brushed the system off.

Now let's see where we stand.

[Host: Alex Morgrave]

[Title: Patriarch of House Morgrave, Baron]

[Age: 19]

[Race: Human]

[Bloodline: None]

[Power Stage: Swordmage Stage 1]

[Talent: SSS-Rank Comprehension]

[Skills: SSS-Rank All-Seeing Eyes]

[Inventory]

[Shop]

Ok, now that we have that finished, let's get to the pressing matters.

System: Where am I currently?

Host, you are in the Northern Kingdom of Wallstein; you are one of the many nobles in this country, sadly one of the ones with the lowest noble title possible, a baron.

You are the lord of 12,000 humans.

1 Castle, 1 Town, and 2 Silver Mines

Hmmm, alright, System, that doesn't sound too bad. Now let's get going; I want to see some of this new world I'm in.
