Listening to the continuous reports from the Lantern Ring on his finger, Kael looked out the window with a bit of solemnity. The cosmic space outside didn't look like the usual scene at all.
From this angle, it actually looked a bit like black sewage floating with oil slicks and debris.
"Alright, this situation is hard to explain. I can only say that the spatial quality outside is really strange."
He said this while placing the ring in front of him, and Green Lantern Hero John merely shrugged. If it were him, he wouldn't use the ring to analyze any cosmic space. Even if there were conclusions, what use is having a bunch of data?
Just like Kael now, the Lantern Ring provided conclusions and data, but no one here understood it, trying to show off only ended up embarrassing him, as if flaunting his own lack of culture.
John secretly sighed. Kael's personality was more genuine and sincere, living life particularly truthfully always had its advantages and disadvantages.
The advantage is that it draws people closer and they feel good about it, the disadvantage is being too straightforward sometimes doesn't consider the consequences.
John broke the silent atmosphere, the light outside the window flickered on his black face: "Anyway, the situation outside is very complicated, and those going out must be careful."
Star Hero smiled at him: "Thank you for your concern, but I can hear the cosmos whispering to me every moment, and now it's the clearest, yet there's a bit of static in this wonderful music. We are here to restore harmony."
John and Kael exchanged a glance. Look at him, the same inability to understand, but Star Hero's way of changing the subject seemed so high-end, didn't it?
Star Hero placed a thumbs up hand above his shoulder, a gesture World War II US Army pilots liked before taking off: "I think I should go out to work. You know, the Multiverse will sing of our feats today for a thousand years, right?"
"Uh… yeah." Kael responded, dumbfounded. Actually, those who know about this will always be a minority.
John leaned closer to Kael and whispered: "Get used to it, he was like this back in Sena Gang days."
Star Hero chuckled, opened a Teleportation Gate and instantly leaped out of the spaceship.
The task was indeed dangerous and heavy, but it's unnecessary to always keep a stern face; relaxing sometimes is more conducive to calm and stable performance.
Kael looked through the porthole at Star Hero's departure and said to the ring in his hand: "Kilovog, clear the path, we've arrived."
"Understood." Came the response from opposite, from the chief instructor for new recruits of the Green Lantern Corps.
Kael took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He noticed John also seemed to watch as the figure outside gradually flew towards the Origin Wall: "John, I know about this person's background. He's a second-line hero from decades ago, how does he have such confidence to tackle the matter at hand?"
The Black Green Lantern Hero didn't know the answer to this question either, so he just pursed his lips.
The atmosphere inside the spaceship let the others' doubts feel by Star Hero, and thus he had to exhibit absolute confidence. As a former Superhero veteran from decades ago, he ought to set an example.
And for the time being, his plan was proceeding quite smoothly.
Harnessing the power within, he released a massive Pentagram Teleportation Array in front of the void of the Origin Wall as the Lantern Heroes stepped aside, awaiting response from the other side.
The first to appear was a Giant. He seemed as grandiose as a giant statue inlaid on the Origin Wall, except he was dressed in a shimmering green armor, as though ascending gradually from the horizon.
It soon became noticeable that he's entwined with chains forged from energy, with much smaller figures following him through the Teleportation Gate.
"Star Hero, the New Genesis Star New Gods have completed your commission. We have brought you one of the remaining Omega Giant Gods - 'Marvel'!"
Among those smaller figures was a leader with a majestic beard, having blue-green hair and a bearded face, resembling a lion.
He rapidly approached the Justice League's Javelin while using New God technology to communicate in the vacuum of space.
He was none other than Darkseid's brother, the Ruler of New Genesis Star, the Celestial Father of the New Gods.
Following behind were Darkseid's 'son' Orion, Darkseid's former subordinate 'Light Beam', 'Big Bada', and Justice League's old friend, the Cosmos' number one Escape Master 'Mr. Miracle', along with several soldiers from the Creation Star New Divine Race.
The abilities of the New Gods were unquestionable. If the Celestial Father dared to claim this title, and contend with Darkseid for such an old history, enduring prowess was necessary for survival.
In the last invasion of Earth by the Omega Four Gods, the entropy representing human origin was wiped out, while the remaining three Giant Gods departed Earth, wandering the Cosmos.
This time, Star Hero's plan was to use them to mend the cracks on the Origin Wall, which is their existential mission.
Hence, he entrusted some Earth allies to seek out the tracks of the Three Giant Gods in the Cosmos, capturing them, awaiting the opening of the Teleportation Gate.
It seems the New Gods were the first to fulfill the commission, because the Origin Wall concerned everyone's survival, and no one could stand aloof.
Orion flew to Star Hero, revealing a wry smile beneath his helmet: "Hope you know what you're doing. We found him devouring a planet at the edge of the universe."
"Thank you, my friends. I assure you this will work, just need to wait for the other two Giant Gods to be in place." Star Hero said confidently, communicating with the New Gods through the strange energy within, as simple as speaking on Earth: "Kilovog, are you ready?"
Star Hero didn't have a Green Lantern Ring, so Kilovog couldn't directly communicate with him, but the Green Lantern Corps answered with action, as hundreds of Green Lantern Heroes used their rings to form energy chains, towing the Giant Statue towards the Origin Wall.
The crack pierced by the X Metal was originally the location of the Omega Four Gods.
Putting them back is the obvious choice.
Countless grotesque giant statues are staring at everyone. The statues on the wall will always come down and fight with the Lantern Groups once activated, and behind them are even more statues, seemingly endless.
Now everyone hopes this can solve the problems they face, hopefully.
When the Green Lantern Corps cautiously blocked the crack with "Marvel," they did not struggle and appeared very docile.
No one thought about why this was happening because the second teleportation gate opened again, and the Guardians dragged another giant statue in.
The leading Little Blue Man was Ganser, the emotional Guardian. At the critical moment of life and death in the universe, the Guardians finally took action.
They captured the Omega Giant God "Knowledge" wandering in the cosmos.
"Great, that's the second one."
Everyone in the Justice League who could leave the spacecraft had exited, leaving only people like Barry, Batgirl, and some heroes without the ability to move in space.
Strangely, the known space-capable Deathstroke sat motionless in the spacecraft, as if completely oblivious to the situation unfolding before him.
Ron initially wanted to call him out, but Deathstroke just lazily raised his left hand, rubbing his thumb and index finger quickly.
Mars Hunter understood, Deathstroke was demanding payment; without payment, there would be no mercenary services.
This time, Deathstroke had asked for payment in gold and jewels, but all the wealthy people were absent. There was no Batman, no Green Arrow, and even Diana, who could pull out some golden jewelry, was not there.
Ron had previously worked for the Celestial Eye Association when he disguised himself as a human, but that was long ago. Although the treatment was good, after retiring for many years, he had exhausted his savings.
He had adopted too many orphans and stray cats, but raising orphans required far more money than raising pets.
But merely keeping the children alive was not enough; he needed to send them to school, educate them, hone their professional skills, and outfit them with gear, all of which cost significant sums of money.
Ron once asked Batman what kind of school to send the children to.
Batman's answer was: "Choose the most expensive."
So, not understanding Earth's education system, Ron picked a certain private elite school. Whether the teaching was good or not is a separate matter; the tuition was extremely expensive. For a few children, hundreds of thousands of US Dollars per year were not enough.
Nearly a decade had passed, and now, Ron was broke, hardly having enough money to buy Oreo cookies.
As for Superman and Barry, they were self-disciplined, never using their superpowers for financial gain. In their public personas, one was a reporter, and the other a researcher—just ordinary salary earners.
Ron glanced around at everyone in the spacecraft. There was no one whose public identity was a billionaire, forcing him to sigh helplessly and follow Megan as she followed Hawk Woman.
Cindy was relieved, holding the Nightfall Greatsword. Su could roam freely in space without protection, but she could not.
Other than using the excuse of needing money to evade involvement, every other excuse seemed too forced. She would have loved to help, but alas, she lacked the power.
Moreover, she sensed something off about Barbara...
The Barbara from Earth -11 had always kept in touch with her, and she truly was a curious girl, but this wasn't how she should be behaving.
This Earth-0 Barbara, though searching around, which could be seen as curiosity, lacked that special plain sentiment—put differently, she wasn't rustic enough; she lacked the dusty, earthy aroma...
She didn't concern herself too much but instead looked through the Justice League database to review past mission records, noting the previous Justice League actions in her mind.
At this moment, she detected another spatial tremor, turning her head towards the window just in time to see the third teleportation gate open—Xiara led Sena Gang's last remaining fleet, leading the final Giant God, Mystery.
Unlike the previous two factions, Sena Gang had no ability to capture these giant statues; they were merely using the fleet as bait to lure the statues, whose hearts were filled with hunger.
But here, several other Lantern Groups charged together and easily captured the hungry Mystery.
The three Giant Gods were bound into a cross shape and stuffed into the cracked Origin Wall. But here comes the problem, with one of the Omega Four Gods dead—Entropy was eaten clean by the other three Gods—what to do with the last humanoid crack bursting with strong light on the Origin Wall?
Cindy quickly noticed Hawk Woman flying towards that direction, and everyone else watched her with the look of admiration for a martyr.
Was the Justice League planning to fit her into the hole? But the scale was far off.
The mercenary found interest in this, stood up, and leaned close to the window to look outside.
