The deal has been made, and as a hired person, she's much more trustworthy than Constantine, at least until she directly faces some Cosmic Demon God.
"Can I ask why you're investigating this matter?" Albella said as she organized her coat, putting various magic props inside: "From my point of view, you two have no magic fluctuations at all, but you're carrying a pile of divine artifacts."
"Are you curious about the employer's identity?" Su Ming walked out of the room first, the wooden floor creaking under his feet.
"Naturally, if a Divine Envoy commissions me, I could add this experience to my advertisement later." She casually replied, with a cigarette in her mouth, a golden lock of hair dangling in front of her eyes.
"But this advertisement is too bizarre, ordinary people won't believe it, and they might even think you're boasting," Su Ming offered a different view.
"Ha, well said." Albella chased Diana out of her office, locked the door, and nodded appreciatively at Su Ming.
More like self-mockery.
At least over the years, she's done some good deeds with Demon Power, yet these things, no one believes when talked about.
People won't believe in demons until they see them with their own eyes, yet they believe in God's existence, but who has ever seen God?
"You're actually trying to ascertain our identities to judge what level of crisis you might face in the future, right?" Su Ming softly spoke her thoughts: "If we're errand runners from the Magic Realm, then you just need to prepare for some little demons. If we're Divine Envoys, then you'll consider if it's a world crisis."
"That's about right, but world crises aren't unheard of, doesn't the Justice League handle a dozen world crises every year?" Albella seemed unfazed at being seen through and frankly acknowledged her thought.
Diana's expression lightened somewhat, seeming grateful that someone recognized the Justice League's contributions.
But the mage's next words almost made Diana explode. Albella staggered down the stairs while talking to Su Ming.
"If I were as wealthy as they are, I could maintain world peace too, but I still have to eat, haha."
Diana seemed ready to pummel the mage, and Su Ming quickly held her back, unsure of what was happening, wondering if an internal conflict was about to erupt.
Albella noticed the caped woman's odd demeanor but instead of calming the situation, she added fuel to the fire: "Your girl's having a fit, shaking all over, I think it's epilepsy, so you'd better not sleep with her."
"Phew... phew..." Diana took a few deep breaths to calm herself, pulling off her hood to reveal her face and the Starlight Crown on her head.
She stared at the mage, demanding an apology with her eyes.
However, Albella just glanced at her and feebly nodded: "So an Amazon Queen, how about it?"
"???"
Diana looked puzzled at Deathstroke, not quite understanding what it meant.
Albella flicked her cigarette, knocked off the ash, and led the two into the basement, where she had rented a small space and set up a Magic Array.
"I'm asking if you want to sleep with me, we could play with some little women's toys."
"!!!"
Diana understood but had no interest, being as straight as steel.
Even though it's quite popular among Amazons, many of her sisters are lovers with each other, she just couldn't accept it herself.
She did have close relationships with some girls, but she never had that kind of intent.
Like Harley, who often hugged and kissed other women, even sharing a bed, but Harley was also straight.
"No thanks, not interested." Diana immediately declined, but she couldn't muster any anger.
At least the other woman acknowledged her allure, right?
Thinking this, Diana stole a glance at Deathstroke, but his face remained expressionless, the strange nano whatever it was showing no emotions.
Albella nodded indifferently, stuffed the cigarette back in her mouth, clamped it with her red lips, and motioned for the two to join her in the Magic Array.
"Your loss, you have no idea how great I am." Albella shrugged, showing some regret, but her tone carried no real regret: "What about you? Batman, want to date and marry me?"
"Oh? That's quite a leap, isn't it?" Su Ming chuckled, she had obviously mistaken him for someone else.
Albella pursed her lips and smiled: "We're both tired souls, two patients together could be good, besides, you're wealthy."
"So it's Batman's superpowers you're after? Haha..." Su Ming shook his head, tapped his chest, and the Strangulation seeped into the seams of his armor like a tide lapping on the sand, revealing a black and yellow uniform: "Unfortunately, you've got the wrong guy."
The cigarette fell from Albella's mouth, at first suspecting she was under an Illusion Technique, then doubting her life choices.
She had thought being with Wonder Woman, throwing money around with the ability to see through hearts, it must be Batman, but how could it be Deathstroke?
A mercenary, a top assassin.
She rubbed her temples, feeling the buzz from the alcohol. Has the world changed this much since the Origin Wall exploded last month?
The most justice-focused Wonder Woman and the darkest assassin walking together, they seem to have a pretty good relationship... It's too crazy.
Her expression turned serious, her eyes narrowed into slits.
As a warlock, a believer in mysterious theories, she knows that if too many incomprehensible things happen in a short time, it proves everyone has big trouble...
............
At this moment in Maryland, Zatanna arrived at the doors of Winters Manor and saw Baron Winters welcoming the previous batch of guests.
It was the Witch Child and Morgan.
The Witch Child is a powerful warlock, sometimes good, sometimes bad, often acting from the perspective of those underground; at least he is Zatanna's enemy.
And Morgan Le Fay, that's a given. King Arthur's sister, the queen, is never easy to deal with. Her golden mask and her full arsenal of magic props make her extremely dangerous. She is an enemy of the Justice League.
"If I were you, I wouldn't go in." A crisp click of a lighter behind her, a man slowly emerged from the darkness: "Darling, that's not a place we should go."
Zatanna turned around, and sure enough, it was the person she imagined.
"Constantine, you stinking piece of crap, can't I shake you off?"
"I helped draw your teleportation array, your antithesis magic can't be used, and the teleportation array has to pass through the Spirit Thin Prison where the Mysterious House is located, what do you think?" Constantine laughed smugly, sitting down hard on the hood of someone's car nearby.
Zatanna glared at him grumpily: "Baron Winters promised there wouldn't be any conflict today, the people inside are like us."
"Ha? I don't consider myself to be like blue-skinned goblins, snake-man sorcerers, or toad mages." Constantine sneered from his throat, smacking his lips and spitting a mouthful of thick phlegm onto the roadside.
"The Baron welcomes all casters." Zatanna didn't intend to waste words, the meeting was about to start. She had to attend, to understand what was happening now.
Either Constantine would go in with her, or he could quickly get lost.
"Except me, ever since I burnt three people to death in his living room last time, every time I want to enter his place again, I'd need to break more than twenty magic traps." Constantine shook his head, indicating he wouldn't go, hoping she wouldn't either: "You don't need to waste your time, with demons and angels in the same room, they won't achieve anything."
But Zatanna didn't listen to the latter half of his words; she only heard about the three people burnt to death, the flames seeming still vivid before her eyes.
"You've always been a damn asshole, right?" Zatanna cursed at Constantine, if her magic hadn't failed, she would certainly want to brutalize this scum: "One of those three you mentioned is my father!"
"So... are we finished?" Constantine scratched his head, a lot of dandruff showing glaringly under the streetlight.
"Because you tricked my father into fighting the Outer Space Demon with you? Then abandoned them and ran back alone? Let them turn to ashes amidst agonizing wails?" Zatanna shook her head in disappointment, she had once loved this vagabond, but now sparing him was for old times' sake: "Yes, we're finished."
Having said that, she turned and walked towards the manor as the Baron saw Zatanna and came out to welcome her.
He also saw Constantine, thus he sent his demon pet cheetah 'Merlin' to drive away this scoundrel.
Not wanting to be mauled by a big cat, Constantine left quietly.
In fact, the three who were burnt to death last time were all voluntarily sacrificed, to seal the alternate-dimensional demon god, three powerful mages paid with their lives.
The seal succeeded, the dead were heroes, those who lived were scoundrels.
The four held the ceremony together, why did the other three more powerful than Constantine die, yet he survived?
Surely the other three were deceived!
Actually, Constantine survived not because he escaped, but he needed to live to conduct the magic ceremony only he could perform, released through his demon's blood.
Everything had happened; there was no need to explain. The various pains, both mental and physical, were his own price to pay. And if ever something joyous occurred, Hell's great group of demons would find ways to seize the source of happiness.
It's better like this, much better than Zatanna being overwhelmed by endless demons when she's lost her power.
He took a drag on his cigarette, glaring fiercely at the cheetah, his hell magic hadn't failed; now he was far stronger than the Baron.
The cheetah stared back fearlessly, watching him stride into the darkness towards the distant door.
Constantine cursed as he hurried down the street, occasionally turning to look back.
Not casting doesn't mean he wouldn't or didn't dare; he had a hundred ways to deal with a demon pet, even if the cheetah was named 'Merlin', it wouldn't matter.
But good steel must be used on the blade; he still had tasks that Batman had entrusted to him.
Let that damn cheetah win this time.
