Vivian's POV
My face twisted with bewilderment as I stood motionless.
"Excuse me?"
Robin's expression had transformed completely from moments before when she spoke with Liam and me. The warm smile had vanished, replaced by a cold sneer. Her gentle touch became a vice-like grasp around my wrist.
"You understood me perfectly, Vivian, wasn't it?" She laughed bitterly. "What's my son's price for this marriage charade?" Her eyes shifted to where she held my arm. "And what bonus did he offer for you to show up here and act like his condition doesn't exist?"
My chest tightened as I yanked my wrist free from her hold.
I had completely misunderstood her welcoming behavior earlier.
She despised me and had been biding her time to confront me alone, without Liam nearby.
Clearly, she knew our marriage was fake, which it was. But only Liam and I were meant to know that truth.
"Robin, I have no idea what you're..."
