Vivian's POV
"This is absolutely unbelievable." Grace's voice drifted from the doorway before she stepped into my bedroom. "I cannot wrap my head around the fact that you actually caught my flu. Didn't you always claim to be practically indestructible?"
Fire blazed through my sinuses while my skull felt like someone was taking a hammer to it repeatedly. The cramping in my lower abdomen made everything ten times worse, but somehow I still managed to find humor in Grace's commentary.
Getting sick was practically unheard of for me. Grace used to tease that I had superhuman immunity. Yet here I was, completely knocked down. Swimming in that pool for hours last night had probably been the final nail in the coffin. But I'd needed the clarity that only came from exhausting myself in the water. And no, I hadn't done anything else while I was out there. I was genuinely furious with my so-called husband.
