I knew with absolute certainty that I had become completely obsessed with her.
There was no denying it anymore. Every fiber of my being craved everything about my wife. Her beautiful face haunted my thoughts. Her body called to me like a siren song. Even her defiant streak and sharp tongue drove me wild with desire. The trust she placed in me felt like both a gift and a curse. Her desperate need to understand who I truly was beneath the surface terrified me.
Most of all, her naive belief that she could accept me once the truth came to light made my chest tighten with dread.
I despised this consuming need. The last time I allowed myself to become this entangled with someone, they destroyed me completely. Left me bleeding and broken in ways I swore I would never allow again.
I understood that Vivian was nothing like Mya. Yet that knowledge did nothing to ease the panic clawing at my throat.
