Chapter 4: A Doctor's Benevolent Heart

The small hammer was delicate and cute, very similar in style to a scalpel, seemingly a Supporting facilities product.

"As I just said, I am a Doctor." Mo Fei spread his hands and said, "So it's perfectly reasonable for me to carry a small hammer to test knee-jerk reactions, right?"

"Get lost!" Old Beggar jumped up and ran, "I don't want your money!"

Looking at his running speed, he was probably not much slower than the flying man Bor.

"Damn it!" Mindy's face flushed with anger, "We kindly helped him, but he tried to extort us! I really want to beat him up!"

"Forget it." Mo Fei smiled helplessly, "You really can't do anything about an old scoundrel like him. He's so old that if you beat him, he'll probably leech off you for the rest of your life!"

"Eh? There's a small booklet here? Did that Old Beggar leave it behind?"

Mo Fei bent down and picked up the booklet from where the Old Beggar had been lying. The cover was written in traditional characters and looked quite ancient.

Out of curiosity, Mo Fei quickly flipped through a few pages.

["Detected 'Xing Yi Quan Manual written by Mo Youqian', do you wish to learn it?"]

"Hmm? Could that Old Beggar be some kind of 'hermit master'?" Mo Fei muttered to himself.

[Xing Yi Quan Lv1: You are a complete weakling. If you were to walk down the street at night, your corpse would be found the next day in a dark corner, turned into a sunflower, blooming with eight petals towards the sun. (Experience 0/100)]

What the heck!

Mo Fei was almost going crazy!

Where's the knife?

Where's my forty-meter long greatsword?

Do you believe I'll chop you to death with one swing, you silly dog system?

...As night deepened, a thin fog gradually spread. The streetlights were shrouded in haze, diffusing into a hazy glow.

Under the moonlight, Mo Fei and Mindy slowly walked to their doorstep.

It's a bit funny to mention, people always say the moon is rounder in foreign countries, but they don't know that in the U.S., there's a saying about keeping $20 for survival.

It means that if you go out at night, you should carry a $20 bill in your pocket. If someone robs you, give it to them, and at least you won't lose your life.

Robbers are often low-level Black or Mexico people who smoke marijuana. They risk getting caught to rob, and if they don't get any money, they get annoyed and might just shoot you.

After all, how much does a bullet cost?

If it were in other neighborhoods, Mo Fei and Mindy wouldn't go out in the middle of the night, not because they were afraid of danger, but because they were afraid of trouble!

But this was Chinatown, where Mo Fei and Mindy had lived for ten or twenty years.

They knew the territory well!

Just as they opened the door, a bright, dazzling light shot from the street corner.

Mo Fei frowned slightly, seeing a small truck parked in the spot next door.

He remembered that an old Chinese man in his fifties or sixties used to live next door. As he got older, he wanted to return to his roots and go back to his home country, so he put his house up for sale.

Had the house been sold?

"Hey man, hope I didn't blind you?"

The blonde young man smiled apologetically at Mo Fei.

"It's fine."

Although being blinded was a bit annoying, Mo Fei wasn't that petty. He just felt that the people getting out of the car looked somewhat familiar?

Seeing the familiar... Ptooey! It was the familiar glamorous housewives, and Mo Fei suddenly realized they were the four magicians who had just performed magic!

Mo Fei's vague memory of them also resurfaced; their Base seemed to be in Chinatown. He didn't expect such a coincidence, that they would become their neighbors.

They returned home around ten o'clock.

At this time, sleeping was impossible, absolutely impossible in this lifetime. Only binge-watching shows, movies, and playing games could barely sustain life.

On the sofa, Mo Fei and Mindy snuggled together, eating potato chips and watching HBO's quality dramas.

The kind that was extremely bloody and thrilling!

Mo Fei felt good!

"Sigh, there are many bad things about the U.S. in this 'Water and Fire' situation, but its film and television classification, and the privatization and commercialization of TV stations are really good... In Rabbit's country, it's completely dominated by 'Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf' and 'Boonie Bears'... Sometimes, when I'm bored and watch that stuff for a while, I even start to feel it's not bad... Scary!"

Mo Fei sighed.

"Crunch!"

The little loli Mindy was watching with great interest, crunching a potato chip.

"Open your mouth."

Mo Fei obeyed, opening his mouth.

A potato chip was fed into Mo Fei's mouth by Mindy.

After feeding Mo Fei a bite, Mindy showed a sweet smile, then turned her head to continue watching the show.

Such was this decadent and depraved life.

Mo Fei felt that if ten or half a month passed like this, he would probably forget even his original name.

Just then, Mo Fei's phone rang: "Little Brother Mo, I have a job here, will you take it?"

A job?

Mo Fei's brows furrowed slightly. What kind of person do you take me for?

"No!"

Mo Fei's brows gradually relaxed as he remembered that he still had the identity of a Doctor.

So that's what kind of job it was!

He was busy watching a show with his cute sister, how could he be in the mood to take any job?

Even if you gave me more money, I wouldn't go!

The other side was silent for a moment.

"But someone here is seriously injured and needs treatment, otherwise, it might be fatal!"

The other party's tone was a bit helpless.

"Then I definitely can't go!" Mo Fei said lazily, "What if something goes wrong? Wouldn't I be in a lot of trouble? You guys just call 911!"

"But..." The other party's tone was quite conflicted, and after a long time, he said, "His injury can't go to the hospital..."

"Hehe!"

Mo Fei let out a flat, inhuman laugh.

What does that have to do with me!

"We'll pay more, how about it?"

"It's not about money!" Mo Fei said unhurriedly, "How late is it now? Not sleeping after 11 PM can damage your skin! Let's talk about it tomorrow!"

Even in Chinatown, walking on the streets in the middle of the night was a very dangerous thing.

Do you think I, Mo Fei, am someone who lacks money?

Still trying to tempt me with money?

Let me tell you, even if I, Mo Fei, starve to death, die outside, or jump off the roof of my house, there's no way I'd go out to practice medicine at this time!

...Ten minutes later, Mo Fei, with Mindy, arrived in front of a church carrying a medical kit and knocked on the door.

Hmm, it's not that I, Mo Fei, am greedy for their triple medical fees!

I'm not that kind of person!

I just can't bear to see the injured person die from severe wounds!

A Doctor's benevolent heart, who can understand my true feelings?

I cannot tolerate my children dying in illness!

After waiting for a moment, a young woman dressed as a nun opened the church door with an anxious expression.

Hmm, that was a very specially dressed nun, very well-endowed, and it seemed she also worked as a teacher... Mo Fei felt his heatstroke was about to act up again.
