Chapter 31 - Chapter 31- The B-Rank Invitation

When I got into the adventure guild, I immediately snatched a quest from the board. The description was simple: collect 20 wolf fangs. It required 3–5 members, and the location was 30 kilometers from the city gate.

I started walking, only to encounter some low-level monsters along the way. A level 10 rabbit with red eyes hopped aggressively toward me, and a level 15 snake slithered across the path. With my Level 35 warrior body, I crushed them like ants—one slash, one strike, and they were gone. The difference in levels made the fight trivial.

Finally, I found the wolf pack. There were thirteen of them, all level 20. I activated B Rank Flash Step, rushing forward in a blur. I slashed one in an instant, and another charged at me—I blocked it with my shield and countered.

The rest didn't even stand a chance. One by one, I cut through them. Thirteen wolves—all dead in an instant. My body felt the familiar surge of energy, and the system—or rather, the divine blessing within me—announced:

Level Up!

I had grown stronger.

The wolves' fangs clattered to the ground. It was almost too easy. But the thrill of battle, the power coursing through me, reminded me why I fought—even alone, I could overcome anything.

After handing over the wolf fangs at the guild, I received my reward—twenty silver coins. Not much, but enough for a decent meal. It was still early, so I decided to check the quest board again.

Just as I was about to grab another quest, I heard someone shouting across the hall.

"We're looking for a warrior! Any warrior free right now?!"

The voice was loud—too loud. I turned and saw a man with messy brown hair and a confident stance, waving his arm.

I approached him. "I could hear you from a mile away," I said with a faint smirk. "You looking for a warrior? What rank quest are you taking?"

He turned to me, studying my armor. "Oh, perfect timing! I'm Louise, a Lancer."

A lancer? I thought. So that's another type of combat job—probably a branch close to swordsmen, but with spears.

"We're taking a B-Rank quest," he continued. "It's a bit dangerous—hunting down a Necromancer rumored to be controlling the dead in the old ruins."

"A Necromancer, huh?" I replied. "What about your team?"

"We've got most of what we need," Louise said, glancing back. "A mage, a scout, and an assassin. But no tank—and no healer. We brought a lot of health potions instead."

"Health potions?" I raised a brow. "That's a thing?"

He laughed. "Yeah. You can buy them from the merchant stalls near the guild. They restore about half your health, but it takes a while to take effect—so don't die before it kicks in."

"Good to know," I said dryly.

We talked for a while—mostly about the mission, the ruins, and the undead threat. An hour later, his team arrived.

"There they are," Louise said, waving them over. "Finally!"

He gestured toward me as they approached. "This is Haru, our warrior."

A girl with red-tipped hair smiled faintly. "Megan," she said, "Mage—Fire and Wood affinity." Her robes were scorched at the edges, probably from overusing her spells.

Next came a tall man with sharp eyes and a bow slung across his back. "Astro, scout and archer."

And finally, a quiet man in black with twin daggers on his hips nodded. "Ian. Assassin."

Louise clapped his hands together. "Alright, introductions done. Our target's three days from here, but don't worry—we've got a carriage waiting. Let's move."

I adjusted my sword and shield and followed them out of the guild. A B-rank quest… this would be the highest mission I'd ever taken. The air felt heavy, but deep down, I could feel it—this was going to be something different.
