Chapter 169 - Chapter 168: Kidnapping the Goddess

Chapter 168: Kidnapping the Goddess

And that's why the Nurgle daemons, hearing the commotion, swarmed forward.

Their twisted bodies reeked of putrescence, their panels, covered in rotten sores, crawling with poisonous insects. The plague messengers, carrying rusted weapons, led the charge, followed by a horde of growling daemons and staggering plague infantry.

They roared as they broke through the thick fog of the forest and headed straight for Francis.

"Destroy the monsters!!!" they bellowed.

"Protect the garden!!!"

"For the benevolent Father!!!"

The daemons roared with fury and charged at Francis with their weapons raised high. Seeing this, he even thought he was the bad guy.

"You guys go ahead! I need to grab something!" Francis called out, trying to explain. "I'll be in and out!"

"You're too weak! Let's go!" one of them shouted back.

Trying to be thoughtful, attempting one good deed per day, Francis attempted courtesy. Instead, the daemons flew into a rage and roared furiously.

"Damn it! This must be another one of their tricks!!" one screamed.

"Their damn plan!!!" another added.

"The benevolent Father will never forgive him!!!"

Francis made no reply.

The plague messengers were the first to pounce on the flesh-and-blood armor.

However, just before their rusted swords struck, thick tentacles shot out. They coiled around the messengers' bodies like venomous snakes and drained them dry in seconds.

Before the surrounding daemons could react, tentacles came crashing down like a storm.

One pierced the chest of a beast daemon in an instant, lifted it up, and flung it into the air. The next moment, a gaping wound in the armor swallowed it whole.

"Aaaaaah!!!" the daemon let out a short scream before vanishing completely.

"Don't be afraid, everyone!" one of the plague infantry shouted. "There's only one of him!"

"They can't kill that many of us! For the benevolent Father!!!" another roared.

Seeing this, the other daemons launched an even more frenzied attack.

The plague infantrymen brandished rusty axes, trying to cut off the tentacles, but the tentacles dodged them with the agility of living creatures and surrounded them from all sides.

"Father, save me!!!" the daemons screamed in agony.

"Father, save us!!!"

The plague-infected infantry were grabbed one by one, torn into pieces of flesh, and swallowed whole. Francis watched the massacre unfold around him, barely able to intervene.

"I've already told you... but you just won't listen," he said helplessly.

It seemed the armor had eaten its fill. Francis appeared to be gradually regaining control. He turned toward the garden's center, urgency driving him forward.

Hurry. The antidote must be there.

Meanwhile, the green god who was fighting the Emperor sensed the prayers of the dying.

"Father! Please save your children! There's a beast here that has drunk all the water from the pond!!" one screamed.

"Father! Your subordinates were incompetent and failed to protect the Primarch. The Primarch has cracked!!" another wailed.

"Father! Father!..."

The screams of countless daemons reached His ears, and for a moment, He was even confused, wondering how such a beast had invaded the garden. They had clearly agreed to trick the Emperor first, so was this a trick by that scraggly bird?

Thinking of this, He glanced at the blue figure fighting earnestly beside him, and finally rushed back.

When the garden looked as though a dog had chewed it up, Nurgle no longer cared about the truth of the matter. He instantly arrived before his own rotten soup pot.

The air was thick with poisonous fumes and putrid stench. Thick, viscous liquid gushed from the pot, forming streams that flowed outward, nourishing the garden.

A bizarre creature the size of a Titan appeared before the pot, its body covered in tentacles, dragging bag after bag. It stood before a huge, rusty cage entangled in vines and rotting flesh.

The cage emanated a soft, life-giving light, standing out starkly against the surrounding filthy environment.

The prisoner in the cage was none other than Isha, the Goddess of Life. Although trapped, she still exuded a gentle aura, like a ray of hope in the darkness.

"Oh, revered Goddess of Life," Francis said gently, offering a respectful bow.

His tone was measured, almost courteous. "I am Francis, of the Human Empire. Please allow me to lead you away from this place."

Isha raised her head. A smile appeared on her beautiful face, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. When she spoke, her voice was calm and steady.

"Thank you for your kindness, but it's not necessary, human."

Francis froze, clearly unable to believe what he'd just heard. "My dear goddess! You may not understand how dangerous this place is. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to escape this evil imprisonment," he insisted.

'I dont understand how dangerous it is?' Isha sighed softly, her voice filled with longing. "Actually, He's very good to me. I want to be with Him."

"Although he looks... bloated and is full of rotten flesh, stench, and plague..." She paused, her eyes sparkling as she continued.

"He is also a husband who is willing to make soup for me every day. And I love him."

"Just as I love the Eldar."

Francis stood motionless, his expression frozen solid. This is unbelievable!!!

He never dreamed that his goddess had such tastes. Was this some elaborate game? As expected of an Aeldari god, skilled beyond mortal understanding!

Francis: "!!!"

Seeing this scene, Nurgle also showed his love, a love for life itself. Before he even got close, Francis could feel the intense stench rushing straight at him. The odor made his eyes water.

In that moment, another Chaos Egg fell from the armor, freeing itself from Nurgle's corruption. A sharp sense of crisis enveloped Francis.

In the blink of an eye, he swiftly pulled the ladle from the edge of the pot and held it to the neck of the Goddess of Life.

"Don't come any closer! Or I'll scoop her up and kill her with a spoon!!!" he shouted.

"I'm just a worthless person! She's your precious darling!"

Francis's heart pounded as he held the Goddess hostage. Chaos Eggs kept falling from his armor to resist the corruption, each one a piece of himself rejecting the warp's touch.

The armor's most impressive feature was its high-speed regeneration ability. Like Tyranid bio-constructs, its body could separate and shed parts, but its consciousness remained unified.

In this way, each corruption would affect a secondary brain, which would automatically disassemble when it became a chaotic egg.

Nurgle's huge, decaying body appeared opposite the soup pot.

Even though his figure was blurred, one could vaguely see a kind smile. The temperature around him seemed to intensify.

"Ah, my child, why so agitated?" His voice was almost gentle. "What do you desire?"

"You're just asking a question you already know the answer to!" Francis snapped back, his voice sharp with anger.

"You were the ones who corrupted Mortarion, weren't you! I want you to remove his corruption and let him go immediately!"

"You wouldn't want anything to happen to your wife, would you?"

"This spoon may not harm her, but my tentacles have the power to enslave!"

Francis gritted his teeth, his tone unwavering despite the impossibility of his situation.

"Your relationship with him is probably just so-so, so why did you do this?" Nurgle asked, almost amused. "You don't belong to the Emperor, do you?"

Upon hearing this, Francis looked at the other being as if he were a fool.

"Why are there so many whys?" he said flatly.

"I'll do it if I want to!"

"He's my brother! Do I need any other reason?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the ladle in his hand trembled slightly, as if it were generating resistance against the rotten soup pot. A faint luminescence began to radiate from it.

Nurgle was taken aback. A force completely opposite to him was resisting him. The resistance grew stronger, forcing the corruption to retreat.

Countless Chaos Eggs fell from the back of the armor and began causing chaos throughout the garden. They tore at the daemons everywhere, turning the place into complete pandemonium.

"I'll give you a way to solve your brother's problem~."
