Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: A Bet with Hagrid

Because of the news in the Daily Prophet this morning, the young wizards were all distracted during class and found it difficult to focus.

Especially those young wizards from Muggle families, after quickly brushing up on the situation about the Swooping Evil, couldn't help but worry about their family's safety.

It's one of the most dangerous creatures in the wizarding world, which feeds on human brains, wandering outside. If it entered the Muggle community...

Thinking of this, they felt even more uneasy, gazing out of the classroom window constantly, hoping the owls would soon bring back a reply.

Concerning this, the professors didn't have much of a solution, only able to slow down the teaching pace and reassure them as much as possible.

It wasn't until the second class in the morning that the situation improved.

"Cheer up, children."

In Herbology class, Professor Sprout walked into the greenhouse, looked at the listless young wizards, and smiled: "Just now, Mr. Newt Scamander issued a statement, confirming that no traces of the Swooping Evil had been found in either the wizarding world or the Muggle world.

So it likely flew somewhere else, you don't have to worry about your family's safety anymore."

As Professor Sprout spoke, she took out her treasured clippings, educating everyone on Newt Scamander's achievements.

Kael noticed that some of the clippings were quite old, the oldest one was even faded, which praised him for his outstanding contribution to defeating the Dark Wizard Grindelwald.

There was also a photo on it, showing Newt Scamander young and handsome.

The young wizards felt much more at ease after reading the clippings.

Having the wizarding world's most renowned Master of Fantastic Beasts personally assuring them, it seemed there should be no problem.

Moreover, this person was a long-time friend of Headmaster Dumbledore, which increased the credibility.

By lunchtime, the auditorium was lively again.

"I can't believe I actually forgot we have classes in the afternoon." Cedric picked up a potato with its skin, showing disappointment: "Looks like I can't go with you to find Hagrid, what a pity."

The workload in the second year is a bit more than in the first year, apart from weekends and holidays, it's rare to have a half-day without classes.

"It's just to get some Moonstruck Beast fertilizer, nothing much to regret," Kael said while biting a piece of bread, "why, are you planning on growing ornamental plants too?"

"No, I'm just interested in Moonstruck Beasts," Cedric said: "I heard they dance a complex dance under the moonlight, it sounds amazing, and I haven't seen what real Moonstruck Beasts look like."

"You probably won't see them dance," Kael shrugged: "You'd have to wait until night, and by then it'd be past the castle's curfew, unless you want to take a night stroll."

"I know," Cedric said, "so I just want to see the Moonstruck Beasts."

"That's possible," Kael nodded.

Moonstruck Beasts need to sleep during the day, but they usually live in caves, so you can see them from outside.

Of course, provided Hagrid is willing to take them to the Forbidden Forest.

Kael put down the pumpkin juice, "Alright, let's go right after lunch, we've got over an hour before class, we should have time."

Cedric's eyes lit up, "Can we?"

"Of course, we didn't set a specific time anyway."

At this moment, Kael noticed Conna who seemed interested, and asked casually, "Want to come with us?"

"Yeah!" Conna hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Thanks to Professor Tospout, she now admires Newt Scamander immensely and is very curious about those fantastic beasts.

So, after lunch, the three of them went to the small wooden house next to the Forbidden Forest.

This time they didn't knock, and when they got there, Hagrid was watering the pumpkin patch.

After Halloween, the huge pumpkins in the field had all disappeared, leaving only some small seedlings.

"To the Forbidden Forest?"

After Kael expressed their intention, Hagrid repeatedly shook his head: "No, no, first-year wizards can't go to the Forbidden Forest, it's too dangerous."

"It's alright, Hagrid."

Kael smiled and said, "No one at Hogwarts knows the Forbidden Forest better than you, plus, the Moonstruck Beasts live on the relatively safe edge of the Forbidden Forest, with you around, we surely won't be in any danger."

"Even if you say that, I still..."

"Besides, you know a lot about fantastic beasts too." Kael continued, "I bet you'll succeed Professor Kettleburn as the Professor of Care of Magical Creatures."

"Me, a professor? ...No, you must be joking, how could that be, I'm far worse than Professor Kettleburn."

Even through the thick beard, Cedric could see Hagrid's flustered expression.

"Alright, but you were right, I do know those creatures in the Forbidden Forest well."

Hagrid glanced at the three of them, put down his watering can, and said, "Follow me, I'll take you to see those Moonstruck Beasts.

But you must promise to stay close to me and not wander around, otherwise, I'll immediately send you back out and never let you into the Forbidden Forest again!"

"We promise, Professor Hagrid!" The three said in unison.

The word "Professor" made Hagrid's face turn beet red again.

But then suddenly, he seemed to think of something, his mood turned a bit gloomy: "I can't be a professor, don't say that in the future, others won't take it well."

"You need to have some confidence in yourself."

Kael stepped forward, patted the back of his hand, and said earnestly, "You'll definitely become a professor within four years."

"No way." Hagrid shook his head, "You don't need to comfort me."

He couldn't even use a wand in front of others, how could he become a professor?

"How about we make a bet."

Kael held up four fingers, "If you don't become a professor in four years, I'll figure out a way to get Newt to agree to have the Fire Dragon fostered here for two months during summer break at Hogwarts."

Hagrid stopped dead in his tracks, turned his head incredulously: "Mr. Scamander has a Fire Dragon?"

"Yes," Kael nodded: "It has such a bad temper that it attacks any creature it sees indiscriminately after leaving Newt, so it's been sent back by the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve three times, and the third time they even specifically refused to take it back.

Plus, its personality isn't suitable for being released into the wild, so it can only be kept in a box."

"I agree," Hagrid nodded immediately.
