"Let's settle this in a decisive battle!"
With the summoning of Extreme Divine Emperor Thor, Dragan's aura noticeably intensified, his confidence seemed to soar, embodying an air of 'who can rival me?'.
The Star Realm Triumvirate consists of Odin, Thor, and Loki, gods certified by race and attribute in the animation. However, unlike the Phantom Gods or Evil Gods, the Three Pole Gods lack general resistance such as immunity to traps or one-turn magic effectiveness; in terms of resistance, they are essentially blank. Among them, only Loki has a 'trap immunity during battle' which provides partial trap resistance.
Conversely, the Three Pole Gods possess a universal immortality ability.
In the animation, the Star Realm Triumvirate are immortal, they can automatically resurrect from the graveyard at the end of each turn and each resurrection effect yields a positive benefit. The physical card version reflects this ability but adds the restriction of 'needing to banish one Pole Star monster from the graveyard', thus limiting resurrection times and significantly diminishing practicality.
Beyond this common ability, each Extreme God has its own unique effect.
For instance, Extreme Divine Emperor Thor, Yugen remembers its effect as 'effect absorption'. Once per turn, until the end of the turn, Thor can nullify the effect of one monster on the opponent's field, and within this turn, Thor can inherit that monster's effect. It's the same type of ability as Yusei's World-Saving Star Dragon.
This effect was weakened on the physical card. Thor can only nullify the effect but cannot take it.
However, at this moment, Yugen's field only has "Forest Guardian - Green Baboon", whose effect allows revival from the hand or graveyard when a Beast Race monster on the field is destroyed, so there's no point in Thor taking its effect.
Clearly, Dragan is aware of this, therefore he doesn't use Thor's ability and directly declares entry into the battle phase.
"Extreme Divine Emperor Thor, attack 'Forest Guardian - Green Baboon'!"
Thor's eyes suddenly burst with rainbow light, the lightning serpent entwined around Mjolnir descends, ionizing the air into plasma, dragging a lightning trail that pierces the heavens.
The divine hammer easily shatters the Green Baboon's crossed blocking arms, its muscle fibers carbonized and disintegrated under a billion-volt voltage. The spherical thunderstorm triggered by the hammer strike explodes into a lightning domain, the ocean depression at the hammer strike point appears to form a spherical vacuum, and water molecules evaporate, condensing into icy crystal thunder clouds high above.
Spectators are awestruck by this divine strike's formidable momentum, even the pompadour-haired commentator is taken aback: "Wow, this... this... the realistic effect of the hologram is truly impressive, haha..."
The commentator starts to sweat as he speaks.
Of course, this can't just be a holographic system. The projection system doesn't have such a large-scale effect, nor such exaggerated drama.
That's the real divine might.
Dragan continues: "Facing a god, a single moment of carelessness will lead to ruin, experience that fully with your body!
Activate Cover Card, Trap Card 'Mjolnir's Magic Hammer'!"
From the card name, it's clear this is a trap exclusive to Extreme Divine Emperor Thor, which targets his Divine Hammer as an Enhancement Card.
"This card can target one Phantom Divine Beast Race monster on the field to activate." Dragan says, "During this turn, when the selected monster fights to destroy an opponent's monster, it inflicts an additional 1000 damage!" (Original effect)
Clearly, due to the removal of the noble Phantom Divine Beast Race from the physical card of the Extreme Gods, the activation target of this trap when rendered as a physical card was changed from "Phantom Divine Beast Race" to "monster with the name of Extreme God".
Before modification, the original animation allowed all Phantom Divine Beast Race to use it, which naturally made Yugen think the Three Phantom Gods should work too. But then he realized, aside from the Extreme Gods, the Phantom Divine Beast Race seems unaffected by trap cards, so in fact, it appears to remain exclusive to the Extreme Gods.
"Destroy Green Baboon for 900 damage, Mjolnir's adds an additional 1000 points." Dragan says, "For a total of 1900 damage, take that!"
Lightning strikes Yugen's D-Wheel from the sky, explosions erupting in black smoke on his D-Wheel and the surrounding track, even visibly tearing apart the track surface.
[Yugen, LP 3000 → LP 1100]
"Not over yet, this isn't all of Mjolnir's power!" Dragan shouts, "Mjolnir, the Divine Hammer, has the most powerful divine artifact that can instantly annihilate any opponent!
Trap Card 'Mjolnir's Magic Hammer' has another effect, the chosen monster can attack twice this turn!"
The pompadour-haired commentator gasped: "Destroy the monster and add damage, plus allow continuous attacks by a monster of such divine level! What a terrifying ability, Yugen's already come to a life-and-death moment so quickly, is Twilight of the Gods Team completely beyond previous opponents!?"
Thor's war hammer falls once more, seeming to complete a kill.
Yet at this moment, Yugen's lips slightly pull.
"Divine, huh... well, it's pretty powerful. But for a noble god unable to be immune to traps... it's a bit regrettable."
Dragan's face slightly changes: "What?"
"I mean, if it were the mythical Three Phantom Gods instead of the Extreme Divine Emperor here, this card would be useless." Yugen snaps his fingers, "Activate Cover Card.
Trap Card 'Ripple Shield: Wave Power'!
When the opponent declares a direct attack, all attacking position monsters on their field bounce back to their owner's card deck!"
Dragan's pupils constrict, his heart shakes.
Bouncing back to the deck...
Not destroying but bouncing back to the deck!?
Indeed, his god is susceptible to traps, but it has an immortal ability. Anytime Thor is resolved to the graveyard, it automatically resurrects at the end of the turn and deals 800 damage to the opponent, effectively counting as resistance.
But if it bounces back to the deck...
Braver's face also changes on the sideline: "This guy actually plans to bounce the god back to the deck... what a cunning fellow."
"Stay calm," Harald says, "Dragan's god has been used in past matches, gleaning information and preparing responses isn't surprising."
Pause, Harald chuckles.
"Well, if that's all it takes to be resolved, Dragan wouldn't be worthy of being the chosen one by the god. He'll handle it."
Sure enough, the next moment Dragan speaks: "Activate Cover Card, Trap Card 'Polestar Treasure - Levathin'!
Select one monster that destroyed a monster by battle this turn on the field, destroy that monster!"
He raises his right arm high, pointing to the giant overshadowing the sky.
"I destroy my own 'Extreme Divine Emperor Thor', which destroyed your Green Baboon this turn!"
