Ten minutes later, Ed Phoenix was already sitting in the car heading to the airport.
He dialed Yugen's number.
In just a few seconds, the call was connected, and Yugen's voice came through.
"Ed? How's it going, is the trip smooth?"
"Ha, it's okay, though it would be much better if I had more time."
Ed chuckled.
"The matter is settled, I'm on my way to the airport. But about the Elf you were asking about... there is indeed some progress, but don't get your hopes up too much."
On the other end, Yugen shrugged, "My expectations are always at the lowest standard. No worries, go ahead."
"Alright. First, the thing you want to know the most, about what that Elf is, I still have no clue. I caught a Bishop here, but even this guy doesn't know who they're chasing.
According to them, it's 'God's decree.'
"Evil God, huh?" Yugen said, "This bunch really calls their belief like that."
"Indeed, it's quite odd. But what they have confessed is why they need that Elf," Ed said, "It involves a location in the Elf Realm."
"Elf Realm?" Yugen questioned with interest.
"Yes, a location that seems to be hidden." Ed said, "They are looking for that place, apparently related to unsealing their god.
But they either can't find that location, need information on the exact spot, or the key to unsealing lies with the Elf.
So right now, the urgent task for their entire cult is to capture that Elf, at all costs."
"Oh?"
Yugen looked with interest at the big eye floating beside him. The big eye seemed to sense malice, immediately widening in fear and retreating.
"You... what do you want to do to me? Let me just say, you can't have any improper thoughts about my body..."
"That premise also requires you to have a body first, right?"
Yugen laughed.
"Are you sure you have no impression at all about that hidden place?"
The big eye shook like a rattle.
"You see, I don't even remember who I am..."
"I see, so it seems like you're not very useful either."
Yugen stared at him for a moment, supporting his chin.
The eye retreated uneasily.
"You... what are you planning again?" the eye blinked a couple of times, "By the way, they all say you're the supreme King of the Dueling Realm, but I always feel like your demeanor and expression never look like a good person..."
Yugen smirked, "Nothing. I was just thinking, since you're not very useful, and there's a bunch of people desperately wanting to find you. If I sell you, how much money, or how many Rare Cards could I get..."
The big eye jumped in fright.
Yugen ignored him and continued to Ed, "Thank you for your hard work, Ed. Thanks, someone will talk to you about the payment next."
"No, no, consider it my debt to you, no need for payment. It was just on my way, a small effort, and a bit of entertainment aside from the tournament."
Ed paused for a moment.
"But more than the payment, what I really want to know is... how's my father doing?"
"He's doing well, stabilized at Kaiba Group. Next week, you should be able to visit him, though you should be prepared mentally."
Yugen said.
"Although he's out of danger, hoping for him to return to a normal person... is slim."
"I understand." Ed smiled, "But just being able to see him today, to talk to my father... it all feels like a dream.
This is already the luckiest thing I could ever encounter in my life, I haven't thanked you personally before, Mr. Yugen..."
In fact, even the doctors and researchers at Kaiba Group said it's a miracle—a soul trapped inside a Monster for ten years and yet able to escape this card and awaken once again, something almost impossible even with their world's top-level black technology.
Indeed, if it hadn't been for the help of an incredible cat, this would have been impossible.
When Yugen went to the Great Temple to ask for this favor, even the Great Temple admitted it was difficult.
He had always been proud of his Alchemy skills, indeed, a rare talent in history. If anyone in the world was closest to the "Human Alchemy" subject, the Great Temple was undoubtedly that person.
But the problem the student gave him this time even made his head spin.
"The body has been dead for ten years, and you want me to retrieve a soul separated from its shell for ten years?" the Great Temple exclaimed, "Why don't you just ask me to ascend to the heavens?"
Yugen had smiled at the time, saying, "Teacher, you see, didn't you yourself manage to live on after separating from the body?
Now you can even live inside a cat's belly..."
The Great Temple had huffed and said, "Do you think the Pharaoh was just a cat I picked up by the roadside? Do you think I can just live inside any cat's belly? Do you know how much effort it took to end up like this..."
However, Yugen didn't insist on anything from the teacher, just hoped he would give it a try.
The Great Temple sighed and agreed, "Alright then, since I have such a troublesome student..."
And so, with the collaboration between the world's top Alchemist, the world's top black tech consortium, and the world's top Card Printing Factory, this seemingly impossible task was truly achieved.
Although without a body, they successfully separated Ed's father's consciousness from the Blood Demon D card and housed it in a mechanical container temporarily made by Kaiba Group.
Next week, Ed will be able to use Kaiba Group's black technology equipment to talk to his father again.
"Saying thanks would be too formal, we're colleagues, friends now."
Yugen smiled.
"If you really want to thank me, just finish the development soon. Speaking of which, I watched your recent tournament... trying new ideas?"
"Yes, you told me, the Destiny Hero my father gave me still has more potential yet to be tapped. I've been increasingly finding that you might be right."
Ed said this with some enthusiasm.
"I've always thought I knew Destiny Heroes well, but that was just what I thought. I've never truly understood them.
Ultimate D should not be the end of the Destiny Hero, I can feel it. Destiny Heroes have more power, they are calling to me, waiting for me to discover them."
"That's right, keep up the momentum."
Yugen expressed his approval.
Once Ed's father wakes up and exchanges ideas on these new thoughts, Destiny Heroes should undergo another upgrade.
Ending the call, Yugen glanced at the communication's terminal that had ended, and smiled.
Go Ed Boy, I have faith in you.
Father Feng (Destiny Hero · Destruction Phoenix) is counting on you two.
