Chapter 1010 - Chapter 494: Number One Today_3

Compared to Mokgetsu's life, Namikaze Minato's position as Hokage is a minor issue.

Don't even mention the Hokage position for Namikaze Minato, Obito would even abandon his own dream of becoming Hokage.

In the afternoon, Mokgetsu received a mission from Root; Shimura Danzo needed him to find the body tissue of a Hidden Rock Spy.

Mokgetsu outright ignored this mission.

He didn't want Shimura Danzo to get White Zetsu's body, and that's why he had the Shadow Clone kill White Zetsu, so there's no way he'd help Shimura Danzo find White Zetsu's body.

Mokgetsu estimated that Shimura Danzo was just taking a shot in the dark after noticing battlefield intelligence and getting frustrated, so he notified Mokgetsu.

...

The next day, Mokgetsu and his companions left under the reluctant gazes of Jiraiya and Namikaze Minato.

Due to Hidden Rock's unclear intentions at the moment, Mokgetsu didn't take many ninjas with him, just a few dozen, all of whom had been on the battlefield for some time.

Besides Mokgetsu and his disciples, the other ninja from the support unit stayed behind.

Due to Sarutobi Hiruzen's command to return to Konoha as soon as possible, Mokgetsu and the others rushed back to Konoha quickly.

"Even though it's not even half a month, it still feels like quite a long time has passed." Seeing the peaceful scene at Konoha's gates again, Obito sighed.

This wasn't his first time participating in a war, but the memories it left were as profound as his first time on the battlefield.

It was the first time he witnessed the Konoha Ninja Squad looking like lost dogs.

At the initial meeting, the morale of the Konoha Ninja Squad was visibly low.

This was also Obito's first time participating in a ninja war with over three thousand participants.

Konoha had twelve hundred ninjas, Hidden Rock had two thousand, with a combined total of thirty-two hundred ninjas.

During combat, Obito felt like there was an endless stream of enemies, and he didn't dare enter the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode.

Afraid that without chakra, he would become a burden to others.

"Because this time the pressure is greater than ever before." Kakashi replied.

On the Hidden Mist Battlefield, they didn't need to think about anything else; they just had to follow Orochimaru's orders.

But this time in the Land of Grass was different.

Initially, they were urgently assembled to support Jiraiya's troops, not knowing what was happening at the front line, only knowing the troops were defeated.

The unknown powerful enemy easily caused psychological pressure.

Moreover, later, Mokgetsu made them part of an ambush plan as one of the few who knew about it, involving them in troop affairs.

"Maybe that's it. I really wish the war would disappear completely," Obito recalled the scenes of blood splattering and severed limbs flying across the battlefield.

With the Sharingan, Obito had an unusual ability to observe.

Seeing the middle-aged man he greeted several hours ago get a sharp kunai through the heart, even though the man was unknown to him, Obito felt bad.

"You'll need to study more and work harder, then." This time Kakashi didn't mock him but encouraged him calmly.

Obito looked at Kakashi in surprise, taken aback by him speaking this way.

"Look at Teacher Mokgetsu and Teacher Minato, then look at yourself. Do you think you're qualified now?" Kakashi switched back to the familiar tone with Obito.

Obito instantly felt the familiar Kakashi had returned, and his urge to punch Kakashi came back too.

"Dismissed, I'll report the mission to the Third Hokage," Mokgetsu said to everyone after arriving at Konoha.

"Goodbye, Lord Mokgetsu," the ninjas waved to Mokgetsu as they quickly left.

Many of them hadn't seen their families for quite a while and couldn't wait to chat with them.

"You're also dismissed. You can go home if you want or cultivate in the Southern Border Forest." Mokgetsu said to the disciples who were still standing behind him.

"You can rest according to your thoughts for the next two days. If there's nothing else, gather for cultivation as usual after two days."

Obito and his companions recently reached a critical phase; once they master the new abilities taught by Mokgetsu, each one will improve significantly.

So, even though a big war had just ended, Mokgetsu didn't offer much rest time and explicitly mentioned cultivation after the break.

The actions of Uchiha Madara were becoming increasingly blatant; Obito and his companions needed stronger abilities to protect themselves amidst the forthcoming chaos.

"Yes, Teacher Mokgetsu, I understand," Obito nodded.

He's definitely going to cultivate, especially after being mocked by Kakashi.

However, Obito planned to visit his grandmother at home before heading to the Southern Border Forest for cultivation.

The other disciples nodded as well.

Their thoughts were almost the same as Obito's.

Kakashi didn't plan to go home but intended to buy a copy of the Konoha Newspaper before heading to the Southern Border Forest for cultivation.

He's curious about how Konoha would report this great victory and Mokgetsu.

After instructing everyone, Mokgetsu headed towards the Hokage Building.

Knock.

Mokgetsu lightly knocked on the door before the Hokage Office.

"Come in."

The voice of the Third Hokage came through from behind the door.

Only then did Mokgetsu open the wooden door and walked into the Hokage Office.

"Lord Third Hokage," Mokgetsu respectfully greeted.

"Mokgetsu, you truly are someone who brings surprises," Sarutobi Hiruzen responded with a full smile.

"The reason I insisted on selecting you as the commanding officer was because of your stable personality, thinking you could turn the tide.

In the end, you indeed brought me a huge surprise, defeating over sixteen hundred enemies, four hundred more than your troops."

Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't mention the Observation but praised Mokgetsu's achievements.

PS: 5k, not sure what will follow.

Will write, but not too late; if not finished by two, I'll find time tomorrow to finish writing and post.

Not staying up too late actually feels much better; feels more energetic.
