Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Call Me Jonin

"Huh?" Obito had thought that after a day of special training, he wouldn't need to continue training with Mokgetsu.

"Huh what, don't you want to learn Soru through the challenge?" Mokgetsu said, lightly tapping Obito's head with a finger.

"I do want to learn, it's just that I'm feeling a bit tired," Obito confessed honestly.

Unlike Shisui and Might Guy, Obito hadn't often trained for a full day except on weekends, so he wasn't quite used to this training pace.

"If you feel tired, you can rest directly. Just focus on learning what I'm teaching," Mokgetsu explained with a smile.

He had to consider many things when giving special training to all the students, but when it was just his students, there were fewer restrictions.

"I'll definitely learn earnestly. Goodbye, Teacher Mokgetsu," Obito chuckled, saying farewell to Mokgetsu and preparing to go home for dinner.

Even without Mokgetsu explaining, he would have gone after dinner; he could clearly see who was good to him.

After saying goodbye to the students, Mokgetsu also returned to his home in the main district.

Every evening, he read the Fuinjutsu materials Kushina gave him, pondering problems by himself as much as possible, and only asking Minato or Kushina when he had no ideas.

He hadn't talked about Fuinjutsu with them in recent days, accumulating a few questions that he planned to resolve after dinner.

After dinner, Mokgetsu smoothly brought the conversation to the practice of Fuinjutsu, and asked his questions.

Minato and Kushina weren't stumped by Mokgetsu's beginner-level questions, and he quickly got the answers he wanted.

"By the way, Mokgetsu, could you show us the squirrel fish dish again when you have time? We tried making it, but it turned out completely different from yours. It's too difficult," Kushina asked opportunistically.

"That will have to wait until four days later. I'm currently helping students with summer special training, so I'm busy from Monday to Friday," Mokgetsu explained.

Today was Tuesday, and excluding today that was almost over, there were still three days until Saturday.

"No problem, just teach us when you have time on Saturday," Kushina said understandingly.

"Summer special training? Isn't the Ninja Academy on summer break now?" Minato's attention was on another matter.

"Not really, it's because I went to the Third Hokage's house before..." Mokgetsu explained the situation to Minato and Kushina.

It's not something worth keeping secret, in fact, it's better to talk about it.

"Special training for students about to graduate is indeed a good way to enhance the strength of new Genin," Minato nodded in agreement.

With the current chaos in the Ninja World, though it's unlikely newly graduated Genin would be sent to the front lines, it's always good for them to quickly become qualified ninjas.

"This also shows that the Third Hokage holds you in high regard, entrusting you with such a significant responsibility," Minato said with a gentle smile.

"Looks like in a month we might have to call you Jonin Mokgetsu," Kushina joked.

She previously thought that if Mokgetsu seriously cultivated Fuinjutsu, he might become a Special Jonin through it, but Mokgetsu's excellence as a teacher was beyond her expectations, potentially promoting him to Special Jonin through his teaching ability.

"I need to achieve results that satisfy the Third Hokage to be promoted. I'm not sure I can do it, and even if I succeed, I still can't compare to Official Jonin like Minato and Kushina," Mokgetsu said modestly.

The position of Special Jonin is such that, while some Special Jonin may have combat abilities close to a Jonin, most are just strong Chunin with special abilities.

If Mokgetsu were to become a Special Jonin after the special training, his records would surely mark him as talented in education.

However, Konoha has high requirements for Jonin, and even Special Jonin are considered part of the upper-middle echelon of Konoha, eligible to attend Jonin meetings.

"Whatever Jonin it is, Jonin is better than Chunin, plus you can continue to get promoted if you meet the standards in the future," Kushina said, speaking truthfully though bluntly.

After resolving the Fuinjutsu issues and chatting for a while with Kushina and Minato, Mokgetsu went to the Southern Border Forest.

Shisui and Might Guy were already there training when Mokgetsu arrived.

"Come over here, I'll continue explaining the Chakra burst technique for Soru to you," Mokgetsu waved to them.

Before the two of them entered the basics of Soru, Mokgetsu would focus on teaching this Taijutsu for the time being.

After teaching it, he would then teach other Ninjutsu and Taijutsu.

For Shisui, learning some additional Fire Release techniques to enhance his offense would be beneficial, and for Might Guy, Mokgetsu planned to teach him the Breath of Rock.

First, because the Breath of Rock is very difficult, as depicted in the original "Demon Slayer," it's the hardest Basic Breathing Technique to master, so the earlier he learns and practices, the better.

Secondly, the Breathing Technique has a strong body-strengthening effect, allowing Might Guy to better train his physique.

Might Guy and Shisui immediately stopped their training and rushed over to Mokgetsu.

After ten minutes of teaching, Obito also arrived.

Obito glanced enviously at Might Guy and Shisui practicing Instant Body Jutsu, and then under Mokgetsu's shadow clone's guidance, began training Nature Transformation.

During the special training in the daytime, he was primarily focusing on physical training, surpassing his previous training levels.

"Train hard for a week, and then take on the Taijutsu challenge again," Obito thought to himself.

He didn't dare to recklessly challenge, as losing would mean three blank test papers.

...

The next day.

To complete the Taijutsu challenge, Obito borrowed weights from Might Guy, wearing them as he began intensely running laps around the training field, only resting when he was completely out of energy, and resuming once his stamina recovered.

"Has Obito always trained so hard?" Asuma, who was resting, felt unsettled seeing Obito's dedication.

As the one leading the progression, Asuma generally had a more relaxed mindset.

Mokgetsu's requirement for them was to complete the water-walking and tree-climbing exercises within two weeks, but since he'd already finished them before the special training started, he felt he would still be qualified even if he sat and did nothing for two weeks.

But seeing Obito, who was also ahead in progress, being so diligent, Asuma felt uneasy.

He then looked at Shisui, finding him practicing Fire Release Ninjutsu.

He felt that if Group A held a practical exam, he wouldn't secure first place, and might not even hold on to second.

Everyone was training too diligently, as if resting a bit more would result in a significant loss.

Ultimately, Asuma patted his butt, stood up, and continued to practice Fire Release.

With a genius like Shisui of extraordinary skill, it was understandable not to take first place, but he couldn't afford to lose to Obito.

To lose to Shisui and then to Obito, would he then have to lose to other students, making it impossible to show his face.
