Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Mutual Harm Is Not the Way

"Finally..."

"Finally finished!" Obito couldn't help but cheer after finishing the last question.

After more than ten days of struggle, he finally completed the assignments. From today onwards, he no longer had to do them every day.

"Finished what, Uchiha Obito, what are you yelling about? Get up and answer the question!" Iketani Isamu said unhappily, startled by Obito.

But unexpectedly, Obito answered correctly, so Iketani Isamu reluctantly nodded, letting Obito sit down and listen carefully.

"Rin, let's go out tonight!" Obito chuckled as he sat down.

"Tonight? Tomorrow is Saturday, how about going out tomorrow?" Nohara Rin suggested.

"Huh? It's the weekend already?" Obito's eyes widened, looking shocked.

He just finished the assignments; how could it be the weekend again for getting new ones?

"Obito, you've been studying so much you're confused; it's already Friday today." Nohara Rin joked.

She noticed Obito's recent efforts; he really was different from before.

"Finally the weekend break is here, it feels like class time passes slowly, and the weekend is over in the blink of an eye."

"Yeah, those semester breaks feel shorter than five school days."

Obito: ...

The sorrows of humans are not alike; he only felt they were noisy.

It felt like his time from Monday to Friday was stolen; every time he realized it, it was Friday almost time for school to end, then an extremely long weekend.

"Rin, let's go tonight instead; I'll be training tomorrow during the day, might not have much energy in the evening." Obito said helplessly.

With the final exams approaching, the weekend's training was even more challenging than before.

Previously, he could use the forest terrain to maneuver while battling Might Guy, but later they were placed on a flat ground, so it was all about speed and body technique.

That's why Obito decided to go out with Nohara Rin tonight, Friday's training was relatively relaxed.

"Alright then, let's go tonight. I'll find you after dinner, then we'll go find Kakashi together." Nohara Rin nodded.

Obito wanted to ask why Kakashi had to be included but opened his mouth and ended up not asking.

"Probably it's because Kakashi has no one to play with him, so we're bringing him along." Obito thought to himself.

After school, Obito went to the training ground as usual, still being the last to arrive.

Just like before, starting with various exercises to build physique, like push-ups, pull-ups, and squats.

After exercising for a certain time, it was time for the battle.

"Today I'll change the combat rules." Teacher Mokgetsu gathered Might Guy and Obito together.

"Every time you hit the opponent, the opponent adds two questions, and you reduce one question. The battle time is seven minutes."

"Two questions every hit, for seven minutes..." Obito could almost see a sea of papers flooding towards him.

Previously, it was one question per hit and only a five-minute battle, now it was doubled.

The only advantage was that hitting the opponent could reduce one question; if he hit enough times, he wouldn't have to do a single question.

The problem was, he'd been at a disadvantage throughout previous fights!

He was grateful he had the foresight to arrange to go out with Nohara Rin tonight.

With this intensity, the weekend would undoubtedly be tiring, taking several days to recover.

"Sharingan, Sharingan..." Obito muttered, desperately longing to awaken the Uchiha's bloodline limit.

"Teacher Mokgetsu, what about the fifty questions I start with in the battle?" Might Guy looked expectantly at Teacher Mokgetsu.

"Reduced to forty questions," Mokgetsu replied.

For balance, they couldn't be completely removed because Might Guy's Taijutsu was much stronger than Obito's.

Though they weren't entirely canceled, losing ten questions was still exciting for Might Guy.

"Also, exercises can offset questions, up to sixty percent, with three hundred push-ups canceling one question, other exercises work too." Mokgetsu added.

Two questions per hit would cause the questions to swell rapidly, so Mokgetsu decided to use exercises to offset the inflated questions.

After all, the primary goal of the questions was to enhance their learning, not purely a punishment mechanism.

They were meant to be explained, not just finished.

"Offset sixty percent..." Obito's eyes lit up upon hearing this, but the pressure mounted upon hearing three hundred push-ups for just one question.

"Three hundred for one question? Hahaha!" Might Guy laughed loudly, he'd definitely max out the sixty percent.

Seeing Might Guy laughing wildly, Obito, inspired by the vision of drowning in questions later, calmly said:

"Teacher Mokgetsu, this isn't right, using exercises to offset questions should aim to provide us with better training and should be based on individual progress, not fixed numbers."

He didn't want to be the only one doing a bunch of questions.

"Obito, you're quite right, so for Guy, it'll be one thousand for one question." Mokgetsu thought for a moment and agreed.

Might Guy looked at Obito with a question mark face, his smile froze.

"Guy, I know you want better training, right? No need to thank me." Obito smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

"Hmm, Obito, you surely want a full-on battle, right?" Might Guy began stretching, ready to give it his all in combat.

Seven minutes later, the battle ended.

"Obito, one hundred questions; Guy, twenty questions." Mokgetsu announced the results.

"Obito, I know you want more questions to learn, right? No need to thank me." Might Guy showed his gleaming white teeth, giving a thumbs up.

Obito suddenly wished he could smack himself from seven minutes ago, like what was he thinking, now they both lost equally.

The number of questions was simply too much to finish in one day; he'd have to offset a portion with training and take the rest in installments.

Since Nohara Rin mentioned going to play with Kakashi together, Obito directly asked Might Guy if he'd like to join.

It wasn't just a date between him and Nohara Rin anymore, and Might Guy and Kakashi were good friends.

To Obito's surprise, Might Guy declined, saying he'd arranged a night run for exercise with Shisui.

But they still met up later that night while they were out; they ran into Shisui and Might Guy jogging.

"Shisui, trust me, next time try wearing my kind of tight-fitting clothes, they're perfect for exercise." Might Guy tried to promote his green tight-fitting outfit.

Shisui glanced at Might Guy posing and quickly shook his head, imagining how strange he'd look in that green outfit.

"Who's that beside Guy?" Kakashi asked, looking at the unfamiliar figure next to Might Guy.

"A genius from our Uchiha clan, more of a genius than you." Obito deliberately said.

"Oh, and what are you, the Uchiha clan's dead last?" Kakashi replied indifferently.
