"Duel!" x2
The second round of the duel quickly began, this time representing the students.
Given that both decks of the battle are of legendary rarity, this duel is quite worth looking forward to for everyone. Even Youyu is curious to see how far John can go here.
Winning is definitely impossible; in the opening of the GX third season original, Judai and John had a duel, and Judai won. Now, Judai is a completely different person compared to the same phase in the original, and John is even more so.
The Crystal Beast deck system is pretty much a flop, but John Anderson is an important character in the GX series. Although he appears late, he has the vibe of a second male lead. His strength is still something to look forward to.
However, from a card player's perspective, his deck construction is really too weak...
The entire deck has only seven monsters, and each of them is a low-attack monster with no excellent special effects. Not only does it clog the hand, but its combat power is also questionable.
If that's all there is, it would be fine, but the key is that John even said his deck doesn't have a single "directly destroy monster" card.
Because he thinks a duel should be both sides going all out and summoning their strongest monster to clash, so not a single destructive card is used.
So the question remains, you don't have a single boss with over 2000 attack in your entire deck, how are you going to fight their boss?
John's words also caught the attention of many people.
Especially the players—Crystal Beast is known among players as the top-tier flop. Now, not only is his deck full of low-star weaklings, but it doesn't even have a single explosive card effect. Can such a deck really have combat power?
So next is the duel between the two academy champions, Judai and John.
Judai got the first move. To be fair, Heroes generally perform awkwardly when going first; any Hero system tends to be an offensive deck.
But no worries, after some coaching, Judai has already developed a first-turn strategy with personal characteristics. Moreover, after the Light of Destruction incident, he has grown even more, developing a "fun" strategy approach he wants to test.
First, he summoned the "Keeper of Dragon Magic," then activated the effect of Keeper of Dragon Magic, discarding a card from his hand to add the Magic Card "Neos Fusion"—also known as "Ultraman Fusion"—to his hand from the deck.
Then he directly activated Ultraman Fusion, fusing the Ultraman in his deck to directly Fusion Summon Elemental Hero Brave Neos!
Brave Neos' most amazing aspect is that its fusion requirement is Neos plus "any level 4 or lower Effect Monster."
This means through Ultraman Fusion, Judai can precisely send any below-level-4 monster from the deck to the grave, which is very powerful. You can pile all sorts of strange things into the grave using this effect.
For example, this time the Fusion Material Judai chose...
...Ra's Disciple?
Seeing this, many people were confused.
Ra's Disciple? What's that?
This thing has nothing to do with the Hero deck, right? Why would Judai have this seemingly meaningless card in his deck?
[Elemental Hero Brave Neos, ATK 2500]
Ra's Disciple is the accompanying monster card for The Winged Dragon of Ra. However, this isn't some limited card. It was printed by the International Fantasy Society and appeared in the GX original animation, so it's not that rare.
Though ordinary duelists don't have Egyptian God Cards, many people are willing to pay to buy a few as collectibles.
Next is Brave Neos' effect; his attack power increases by 100 points for each "Neospatian" or "Hero" monster in the grave. Since there's one Neos in the grave, Brave Neos' attack power will increase by an important 100 points, which is very impressive.
[Elemental Hero Brave Neos, ATK 2500 → ATK 2600]
Finally, Judai set down a card in the backfield, ending this turn.
Now it's John's turn.
"Starting off with the strong Neos, huh?" John was equally pumped up.
A ghostly eagle-like spirit hovered beside him—that was "Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle."
"Today's opponent isn't your average one, John."
"Yeah," John nodded with a smile. "Let's work hard together again today, everyone."
"Whether it's aliens or whatever, leave it to us, John!"
The brief interaction concluded, and John swiftly took action: "I set one card face down on the field, then activate the Magic Card 'Card Destruction,' both players discard their entire hand and then draw the same number of cards!"
The hands were discarded, and new cards were drawn from the deck.
After drawing, John immediately waved his hand to flip open his backfield card: "Activate Set Card! Magic Card 'Crystal Blessing,' placing two Crystal Beasts from the grave as Continuous Magic in my Magic Trap Zone!"
He swiftly pulled out two cards that popped out of the grave.
"I place 'Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle' and 'Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle' in the Magic Trap Zone!"
A red and a blue gleaming gemstone appeared in John's backfield, occupying two Magic Trap slots.
"Oh~so you can place monsters in the Magic Trap Zone?" Judai nodded slightly, "It's similar to Ed's 'Vision Hero'..."
John chuckled, "Keep your eyes wide open, the power of the Crystal Beasts is just starting! I activate the Magic Card 'Crystal Beacon' from my hand!"
"When there are two or more Crystal Beasts in your Magic Trap Zone, you can Special Summon one 'Crystal Beast' from your Card Deck!"
The power from John's two Crystal Beasts in the backfield simultaneously released, radiating dazzling red and blue lights. The lights intertwined as they shot towards his Card Deck, forming a brilliant bridge guiding the arrival of a new Crystal Beast!
But at that moment, Judai made his move!
"Let me show you the latest interesting tactic developed by Youyu-sensei for me!"
"Activate the Set Card! Trap Card 'Give and Take'! Special Summon one Monster from your Graveyard onto the opponent's field in Defense Position!
Then, increase the level of one Monster on your field by the level of the Monster given away!"
John: "???"
Special Summon a Monster from your Graveyard onto my field?
You're giving me a Monster for free? Is there such a good thing?
Judai smiled as he pulled out the card he'd just precisely sent to the Graveyard as Fusion Material for "Brave Neos."
"I Special Summon the Level 4 'Ra's Disciple' from my Graveyard to your field in Defense Position," he said. "Then, the level of 'Keeper of Dragon Magic' increases to eight."
[Ra's Disciple, DEF 600]
John looked at the guy on his field, dressed like he's cosplaying Winged Dragon of Ra, utterly bewildered.
Is there any special significance to sending me this little treasure?
Then he heard Judai explain, "'Ra's Disciple,' when successfully summoned or Special Summoned, can Special Summon two cards with the same name from hand or Card Deck..."
Of course, John's Card Deck couldn't possibly have such meaningless things, though he was a bit puzzled in his heart.
Calling from the Card Deck two cards with the same name upon summon? This Monster is strong, so why give it to me...
"Then its second effect," Judai said with a wide smile, "'Ra's Disciple,' when present on the field, prevents its controller from Special Summoning any other Monsters!"
"Huh!?"
Everyone was astonished.
What the heck? Is this even possible?
By sending "Ra's Disciple" from the Card Deck to the Graveyard as Fusion Material using "Neos Fusion," then using the Trap Card to offer the Disciple as a gift to the opponent...
...thus, the opponent is magically blocked from Special Summoning?
In other words, from now on, John can only perform one Normal Summon per turn, as if returning to the ancient days of Yu-Gi-Oh's early "you summon, I summon" era...
What is this latest operation!?
But someone quickly reacted, "Well, since the Monster is on your field, just Tribute the Disciple in a Tribute Summon..."
But this layer was clearly within the scope of Judai's considerations. With a sunshine-bright smile, he said, "Oh, right, there's one more thing.
'Ra's Disciple' is devoted to the Three Egyptian God. This card can only be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon of the Three Egyptian God, and cannot be used as a Tribute in any other situation!"
John: "......"
This left everyone even more shocked.
What the heck!?
Besides using it as a Tribute for the Three Egyptian God, it can't be used as Tribute... Doesn't that mean it's unusable for Tribute Summons or as costs for Magic Trap or Monster Effects?
By the way, even if you want to use it as Fusion Material, it's not allowed. Even into the future of Yu-Gi-Oh's next eras, using it as Synchro, Xyz, or Link Summon material is entirely impossible.
Because as long as the Disciple is present on the field, you cannot perform any forms of Special Summons. Whether it's Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link, all belong to "Special Summons."
As for being a Tribute for the Three Egyptian God...
...who in the world has an Egyptian God in hand!?
Unsolvable!
The entire audience was dumbstruck.
Cards... can really be played like this?
Ultraman Fusion can still be used like this?
What kind of infernal strategy is this!?
