Chapter 1026 - Chapter 974: The Attacked King

Youyu only now realized that he had been caught in a blind spot all along.

The person who took Zero Kaiju Ghidora, kidnapped Saiou, and possibly even took Kaiba Company's "Quantum Cube" has always been like a shadow. It feels as if they're everywhere, but when you look closely, you can't find any trace of them.

The original work clearly depicted that the Light of Destruction has a powerful parasitic ability. It can attach itself to anyone and also latch onto a Card Spirit.

It could be anyone, any card.

Or it might even be someone he knows well.

This was precisely Youyu's blind spot in thinking—overlooking the possibility that those he thought he knew well could still be suspects. It wasn't until Saiou Takuma's inner personality was defeated and Saiou himself revealed the name of the mastermind that everything became clear.

Now Youyu finally saw the truth, realizing where he'd overlooked the problem, but it might have taken too long. He needed to address this oversight, just hoping it's not too late.

And it was just as the chaos at the Academy was coming to an end that Youyu received new information.

Again, the message came from Mokuba—Mokuba has practically become the official liaison between the Kaiba Group and Youyu, notifying him of anything he felt Youyu needed to know promptly.

"Youyu, Kaiba Group just received a distress signal!"

"A distress signal?" Youyu was taken aback, "Who sent it?"

"It's from an organization called 'King', located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It seems their Pacific sea base is under attack.

Given that they sent the distress signal to us, it's likely related to a Dark Duel or Duel Monster Spirit incident."

The King organization is under attack?

Youyu pondered briefly and said, "Got it. Send me the coordinates; I'll go check it out."

The position of the Duel Academy Island wasn't too far from the coordinates of the attack. Seeing that the Saiou siblings were defeated and with experts like the Marik siblings and his reliable apprentice Judai stationed at the academy, nothing else should go wrong, so Youyu hurried toward the coordinates.

He had a strong premonition. In that attacked King organization's sea base, he would meet the person he's looking for.

...

King organization, Pacific Ocean sea base.

Three minutes ago, a sudden ambush hit the base.

Arriving first was the extremely harsh weather. It was a rare sight one might never see in a lifetime, with clouds swirling and waves crashing angrily on the sea surface. The golden tornado seemed to hang between the sea and sky, with tons of seawater spiraling on its exterior.

The sea base initially didn't realize the seriousness of the problem. They thought it might be a once-in-a-century harsh weather event and didn't connect it with the horrors that were about to come.

They also had confidence in the base's disaster resistance capacity; this sea base is the pinnacle of current human technology, able to withstand any storm.

But it didn't take long for them to realize this perspective might be overly optimistic.

"Wait, that storm is peculiar!" someone on the ship exclaimed, "This reading... it doesn't look like an ordinary storm!"

An accompanying expert quickly stepped to the computer to view the readings.

"This is... a moving gravitational field!" The expert's face changed suddenly, "It's not just a storm. Some gravitational field is following something at the storm's center, moving... very fast!"

"It's coming our way!"

"Detected large biological signs!" someone said in panic, "That tornado is alive!"

Just at this moment, a golden lightning bolt tore through the sky, striking the base's outer protective barrier like a sword of brilliance. The shockwaves rippled across the protective layer, making a disquieting "zzzz" sound.

"Zero Kaiju." Dr. Serizawa's face went cold.

It couldn't be wrong. Not only did all the instruments and readings indicate so, but he could also feel his old friend—the "Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju" residing in his Card Deck—seemed to be heating up, roaring and shouting in the void, eagerly pleading to be unleashed into battle!

The tornado was torn apart by silver-white wings, and three ferocious heads emerged from the whirl!

Zero Kaiju—Thunder Kaiju, Lightning Dragon King—beat its enormous bone wings to rush out, seemingly screaming lightning!

Another impact shook the entire base violently!

The navy-blue protective barrier barely held against the Thunder Kaiju's bombardment but lasted only about three to five seconds before collapsing under the terrifying impact.

Surging seawater crashed onto the deck, as if meteor hammers were taking turns pounding the steel structure's foundation.

With no barriers in the way, the Lightning Dragon King roared triumphantly, dragging golden electric light to charge downward!

In an instant, the seawater seemed to be burning red-hot, as energy laced with flames burst upward from beneath the surface! The beam struck head-on the diving Thunder Kaiju, and the three-headed dragon shrieked sharply, forced back by the beam.

Atomic Breath!

The sea parted as the scorched body emerged, sizzling with evaporating water sounds. The dinosaur-like giant beast glared fiercely at the three-headed dragon, roaring in a threatening tone, with shockwaves converted into waves sweeping across the sea surface.

Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju, Summon!

The Lightning Dragon King adjusted its stance, flapping its wings to charge once more. Being adept at aquatic battles, Dogoran didn't back down, roaring defiantly as it flew to meet it.

The two mighty Kaiju clashed fiercely!

As the saying goes: when gods fight, mere mortals suffer. The sea base's protective barrier had already been destroyed, and the structure had endured some damage from the Lightning Dragon King's lightning assaults.

Now, with such massive Kaiju fighting so intensely nearby, every aftershock could bring additional strain to the structure.

And the trouble they faced wasn't just Zero Kaiju.

New attacks came in rapid succession as the two Kaiju fought. Multiple entrances to the base were simultaneously blown open, and a group of ordinary Duel Spirits leaped in, quickly engaging in combat with the King organization.

Enemies soon breached the command center.

The command room door was blasted open, and everyone stood up nervously. All the guards in the room drew their weapons, aiming at the entrance—even though they all knew firearms held little use in this situation, at most just boosting their courage.

A figure appeared at the entrance, moving neither hurriedly nor slowly.

Dr. Serizawa's expression changed slightly: "It's you?"

"It's me."

The person ignored the circle of guns aimed at them and slowly raised the Duel Disc in their hand.

"Dr. Serizawa, your King organization ends here," they paused, "and your 'Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju' will also have to be surrendered to me."
