I did not move even after Varyn was dragged out of the hall.
People were shouting. Some female council members were crying. Soldiers were everywhere. Reporters were being pushed back.
The entire palace had turned into something I did not recognize.
Yet I felt nothing.
It was as if my mind could not keep up with what was happening. I watched everything happen like I was in a montage but I was the only figure who wasn't moving.
Suddenly, the room felt so small and I felt so insignificant.
For some reason, the reality of my life bared before me and I was too shocked to react.
These people… every single person in this room didn't care about me. Not my uncle who had tried to rape me, nor the council members who had always dictated every single thing about my life and especially—especially Kael. The one man I thought would never lie to me.
Kael stood there, breathing hard. His words and that of my uncle's still sounded brutally in my head.
