The eldest obtained the world's most powerful Elder Wand, the second obtained the Resurrection Stone capable of bringing people back to life, and the third obtained the Invisibility Cloak that can evade the God of Death.
Yet the Elder Wand is a fickle entity; when its master fails, it immediately chooses a new master for itself;
The Resurrection Stone can only awaken the unfortunate souls, but cannot truly bring them back to life, causing endless torment to both the user and the resurrected soul. It can't be called a gift, only a curse.
As for the so-called most perfect Invisibility Cloak, its function is quite limited. It claims to evade the God of Death, but even Moody's Magic Eye can see through it. The benefit is that it won't wear out or be affected by spells, and its invisibility can last a long time.
When Vid first read this story, he thought the stingy "God of Death" might have been a very powerful Alchemist, and that the so-called three Holy Artifacts were just his works.
But after studying magic for so long, Vid also realized that things wouldn't be that simple—the method for making an Invisibility Cloak is straightforward, but making it last is immensely difficult.
Moreover, unlike ordinary Alchemy Works, Vid couldn't decipher the Alchemy Magic on Harry's Invisibility Cloak.
Vid unconsciously rubbed the pages of the book, pondering—how would he create similar Alchemy Items himself?
His mind was filled with countless Magic Texts and Spells, so lost in thought that when he snapped back to reality, he found Dumbledore was already finished with his work and was quietly waiting for him.
Vid noticed the headmaster's silver-white beard gleaming under the light, his long fingers touching each other, his chin resting above them, gazing contemplatively out the window.
Vid turned to look outside and saw the sky displaying a dazzling alabaster color, clear and azure, with the distant Forbidden Forest and grassland draped in a thin layer of frost.
Vid: "Professor?"
"Hmm." Dumbledore turned his gaze and asked: "Interested in the story of the three brothers and the God of Death?"
Vid replied: "I'm just thinking, if the wand, Resurrection Stone, and Invisibility Cloak in the story were Alchemy Works, how could they be made."
Dumbledore smiled upon hearing this and said, "Don't place blind faith in legends, Vid. Past stories aren't worth pursuing. One should believe in one's own abilities."
"I understand, Professor," Vid responded.
"Let's go." Dumbledore stood up, extending his hand to Vid, saying, "Let's change places to learn Apparition."
Vid stepped forward, grabbing Dumbledore's arm. Phoenix Fawkes flew over, landing on Dumbledore's shoulder.
The next moment, accompanied by a clear cry, the Headmaster's Office was enveloped in a blaze of fire, and both of them disappeared from the room.
...
With a "bang," Vid and Dumbledore appeared in a forest, surrounded by towering trees forming an arched canopy, completely covering the area.
Vid was surprised to find this place wasn't unfamiliar—Sirius and Lupin had previously arranged it for Vid to practice Animagus Transfiguration.
"This place is just right," Dumbledore said, "free from the interference of the Anti-Disapparition Charm, and there's no Wizard or Muggle to disturb us, allowing us to practice at ease."
He waved his Magic Wand, causing the leafless, dead branches to stretch out, sealing the gaps even more tightly.
The fallen leaves on the ground swirled and gathered into piles, then "whoosh," igniting into flames, filling Vid with warm heat.
Vid also waved his Magic Wand, and a series of blue fireballs fell all around, burning quietly, warding off the winter chill.
Thus, they stood as if surrounded by a circle of flame.
Even a simple Flame Curse demonstrated Vid's solid foundation in spells, prompting a look of approval in Dumbledore's eyes.
"Apparition is a high-level magic you usually learn after reaching the sixth grade."
Dumbledore said: "But I noticed you seemed to start reading related books quite early, so I guess you already have a considerable understanding of Apparition?"
"Yes." Vid pulled out a parchment from his bag and said: "I've just completed a thesis on Apparition recently."
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow in surprise, took the thesis, quickly read it for a moment, and then rolled it up.
"I must say, this thesis is already at a level suitable for publication in 'Today's Spells' magazine."
Dumbledore sighed with a smile, "I don't know what more I can teach you... Let's start from the beginning then, watch me demonstrate..."
Dumbledore seemed to sway slightly and disappeared from the spot with a "pop," reappearing a few meters away.
"Did you see? Apparition doesn't require complicated spells or tedious procedures, the most important aspect is the clarity of your mind and a strong desire to reach your target."
"What are the three D's of Apparition, Vid?"
Dumbledore suddenly asked.
Vid answered immediately, "Destination, Determination, Deliberation."
"Good."
Dumbledore's Magic Wand tip emitted a spark, striking the ground and creating a black circle.
"Focus your attention on this circle, wholeheartedly desire to reach this place, without fear or tension, surrender yourself to the magic—then spin."
Vid didn't hesitate. He carefully looked at the circle, memorized its appearance, raised his arm, and spun in place—
"Bang!"
He heard a sound like a firecracker exploding, thinking he succeeded, but upon opening his eyes, he realized his body was still in the same place, only a corner of his Robe was three meters away.
"Take it slow," Dumbledore said, "it's always very difficult at first."
"Bang!"
Vid tried again, this time successfully moving over a meter but temporarily bade farewell to his left foot.
"Splinching." Dumbledore calmly said, "Your attention isn't focused enough, you need to let the target fill your mind."
With a wave of his Magic Wand, a loud bang dispersed purple smoke, and Vid's left foot returned to his body without even feeling pain.
Vid took a deep breath, golden light faintly flowing in his eyes.
He looked at the target circle again, then… spun!
"Pop!"
Another splinch occurred, but this time he only lost a few strands of hair, and Vid didn't bother retrieving them.
"Pop!"
The moment he took off, he got distracted and didn't even manage to move, tripping up and falling.
"Pop!"
Finally, Apparition to a relatively distant location... but it was too far, and Vid stepped into a fire pit.
Fortunately, extinguishing flames is basic for wizards.
"Pop!"
Vid landed on the edge of the circle, looking around for a while before suddenly realizing and looking down to see that he was exactly where the circle was.
He wore a slightly surprised look, observing his original spot, not daring to believe he succeeded so quickly—especially since Harry in the original story spent months learning this magic.
Hesitantly, Vid glanced at Dumbledore, stepped out of the circle, and then attempted again!
"Pop!"
This time, he stood at the very center of the circle.
"Pop, pop, pop, pop..."
Nearby, a monotonous applause arose, causing Vid to raise his head and see Dumbledore nodding with a smile.
"Yes, you did succeed, Vid." The headmaster looked extremely gratified, saying, "I initially thought you'd need at least two or three classes, you've truly surprised me."
Vid gave a shy smile, saying, "I'll practice a bit more, Professor."
The young wizard's figure once again began to flicker across the area.
Since he wished to make Apparition instinctual and rapid as his aim, Vid didn't always wait until he was fully prepared before starting.
Splinching still occasionally happened, and Dumbledore further taught Vid how to quickly heal.
He watched Vid practice repeatedly, with the time for Apparition getting shorter, and instances of splinching becoming fewer and farther between.
According to Ministry of Magic standards, Vid would already be regarded as having mastered Apparition; he could easily pass a test and gain a certificate, but Vid himself didn't seem satisfied.
He continued to practice diligently.
Dumbledore watched as his figure flickered, feeling both gratified and unable to suppress a sigh.
