Chapter 212 - SHITTY NEWS

Guys, unfortunately, I have some really shitty news to give you: the entire Absolute Demonic Front arc will probably have to be deleted.

I've been rereading it several times from the beginning, looking for errors, inconsistencies, and things like that to correct, when I realized something unbelievably stupid that I did without noticing.

Let's go back a bit to something I had already made explicit since the beginning of the story.

Arthur—or rather, a copy of Arthur created through a fragment of his soul—participated in all the journeys through the Singularities alongside Chaldea.

Man, this ended up feeling really bizarre. It sounds like nothing more than a dumb excuse to avoid properly writing the arcs.

Technically speaking, it was Arthur who traveled with them, but at the same time, it wasn't him.

It was simply another person with the same memories and powers.

I also realized that I ended up forgetting some extremely important points.

First: Sakura, Rin, and Illya.

I don't think I ever clearly mentioned this within the arc, but they are part of Chaldea. In fact, for a long time, they acted as direct assistants to Olga and Arthur.

Second: Does anyone genuinely believe Arthur would abandon all the women he met throughout the Singularities when he had the possibility of bringing them to Chaldea?

Of course not.

He simply would never do that, and that's precisely the problem.

When I started analyzing the logical consequences of that within the story, I realized the entire arc was built upon a premise that completely contradicts the personality I had established for him from the very beginning.

On top of that, this whole womanizer-Arthur thing ended up feeling extremely forced just to fit the harem aspect of the story.

It literally makes no sense for me to have done that, and it makes even less sense for the other women (Ritsuka, Mash, and Olga) to simply accept it without question.

Arthur is not the kind of person who forms deep bonds with someone only to turn his back and walk away afterward.

As much as this is a harem fanfic, Arthur is not that kind of person and never will be.

Personally, I can't stand that type of man who's constantly chasing women, so what the hell possessed me to write my protagonist like that? I don't know, and maybe I never will.

And considering his actual personality, it makes even less sense for me to write him as if he would simply accept that situation and leave without even considering another alternative.

The more I think about it, the less sense it makes and the more it bothers me.

The idea of Arthur simply looking at all the women who formed connections with him and saying something equivalent to "It was nice meeting you, goodbye forever" is completely incompatible with the character.

But the problem doesn't stop there.

In fact, the more I reviewed the arc, the more problems started appearing.

For example:

Why didn't Arthur try to bring these women to Chaldea?

Why would he even consider abandoning them?

Why did people like Rin and Sakura, who interacted with him every day, never question such an absurd decision?

And worst of all:

Why does he seem like he doesn't truly care about them now?

That was probably the inconsistency that bothered me the most. Even after recovering his memories, he still seems to place almost no importance on them.

Another massive problem involves contracts.

There is no reason for Arthur not to have formed contracts with the Servants.

Especially considering that Chaldea possesses countless methods of sustaining Servants even when they are not directly connected to their Master.

The more I analyzed things, the more I realized that all of the female characters simply disappeared from the narrative without any convincing explanation—for either the readers or myself.

And that creates a very strange feeling when you look back.

It feels like Arthur developed deep bonds with them only to immediately forget about them afterward.

There's also the emotional problem.

If Arthur truly formed the connections that I claim he did in the story, then being separated from these characters should have been an enormous event.

And now, looking back, the way I wrote everything feels extremely artificial.

And it's been bothering me more and more every time I think about it.

Honestly, the current version simply doesn't make sense when analyzed from the perspective of the characters involved.

Especially Arthur himself.

And if I keep ignoring that, the inconsistency will only become more and more obvious as the story progresses.

The last time I forced myself to continue down a path like this, I completely lost the motivation to write.

On the bright side, that decision back then ended up leading to the creation of this rewrite, haha.

Therefore, I've decided to take a different path, especially because I already started this arc completely wrong.

The original idea was to narrate what happened after the Fourth Holy Grail War. Arthur had already mentioned the Fifth one, so logically, this arc should have been either Singularity F or the First Singularity.

Therefore, I'm changing the arc. Instead of the Seventh Singularity, it will now be the First Singularity.

The fanfic will go on hiatus for about a week, enough time for me to write all the chapters and begin posting them.

As for the Demonic Front arc, it will be postponed until a more appropriate time.

I know this may be inconvenient for some people, or even disappointing, but I only ask for your understanding. If I stay on this path, forcing the plot forward while knowing it's wrong, the most likely outcome is that I'll completely lose my motivation and this fanfic will meet a premature end.

I'll do my best to write at least five chapters by tomorrow and post everything at once.

Looking on the bright side, I might be one of the few people on Patreon and Webnovel writing an FGO arc that takes place in the First Singularity, Orleans. (Personally, I haven't seen a single one on Webnovel, and I searched quite extensively.)

If you'd like, I can continue from there and move straight into the Second Singularity afterward.

Note: No, I will not and do not intend to abandon this fanfic. I just don't want it to end up following the same path that MLS did.
