š Chapter 5
Under the gaze of the live stream audience, Lena Morgen purchased Pirates of the Caribbean.
The audience in the live stream was also in a wait-and-see state, waiting for Lena to try it out and see the quality.
@SaltedSquid: "Front row, melon seeds, drinks, bottled water (* ̄︶ ̄)"
@PixelProphet: "I feel like it's going to be a huge flop."
@CaptainCynic: "I bet fifty cents it's a piece of trash."
Even before opening the game, the bullet comments were already flooding in.
"Everyone, please wait a moment. The 30GB capacity is a bit large, so it might take an hour to download."
@SeaBreeze88: "No worries, we'll wait for you!"
@LagWatcher: "The capacity is too big, I'll observe for a bit."
@EchoBlade: "Let's talk about that amazing play in the competition not long ago. That move was so cool, Leni Goddess."
Lena spent the waiting time reviewing previous matches with the players.
An hour later, the download was complete, and Lena eagerly clicked on the game icon.
Several lines of text appeared on the black screen:
"Resist unhealthy games, reject pirated games."
"Pay attention to self-protection, beware of being deceived."
"Moderate gaming benefits the mind, excessive gaming harms the body."
"Arrange time reasonably, enjoy a healthy life."
After a few seconds, the text disappeared, and an animation similar to the PV appeared.
This time, Lena clicked ESC to skip it and entered the menu page.
Before her eyes was a dynamic flowing water, exquisite ships, and a roaring pirate captain.
Seeing this, Lena was surprised: "This is the first time I've seen such a clear 3D dynamic menu page, and it doesn't look like an animation; it's more like real-time rendering."
The bullet comments also started to flood in:
@TreasureTroll: "I feel like the sophistication of this menu has already left other games far behind."
@RenderGhost: "This might be quite demanding on specs. The menu is so flashy, no wonder it's 30GB."
@KrakenKraze: "Brothers, I feel my gaming soul starting to stir. Could this be an undiscovered masterpiece?"
@DoubtfulDagger: "It can't be a masterpiece. It doesn't even have any promotion. If it were a masterpiece, they would have been eager to spread the word everywhere."
After staying on the menu page for more than ten seconds, Lena clicked "Start Adventure."
The screen flickered, entering the character customization interface.
There were options for gender, facial features, skin color, hairstyle, makeup, and accessories.
Except for gender, the other options each contained several sub-options, which were very detailed.
Below the options was an exquisite 3D character model that could be freely rotated and observed.
"Please forgive my inexperience, but this character customization interface feels like it could already be a game on its own. It really exceeded my expectations."
Lena clicked on a few options, and the model below changed accordingly. The level of detail astonished her.
She then selected female, adjusted height, weight, face size, eyes, eyebrows, and even blush and butterfly patterns on the cheeks.
Finally, she created a very beautiful Asian female character.
"What do you all think of the character I created?"
@BlushPirate: "Beautiful!"
@GoldCoinFan: "This is it, Leni Goddess! I can't wait to see what she looks like in the game!"
@CustomCraze: "This character customization screen is absolutely amazing!"
@SimMasterX: "Could this be a character customization simulator?"
@VoiceForge: "There's also another option below: enter a piece of text or voice to generate a character. Leni, you should try it too!"
Lena also saw that option. She was a bit skeptical; could current producers really achieve this function?
"I'll try it. Maybe it's an unfinished feature."
Lena clicked on the option and then spoke into her microphone: "Create a lively, yellow twin-tailed, one-eyed girl wearing a school uniform."
A few seconds later, a 3D model of a twin-tailed girl appeared, with a sweet appearance, wearing a school short skirt, a cute pink and white eye patch over one eye, and making playful gestures with her hands, perfectly matching Lena's aesthetic standards.
"Wow, I'm really surprised; this feature is actually real," Lena exclaimed.
At this moment, more and more people were joining the live stream.
@CodeWhisperer: "Oh my goodness, what kind of intelligent algorithm is this? This character customization system alone is worth 298!"
@SteamSurge: "Brothers, I already have the urge to place an order and buy it."
@DarkTank: "I want to try making a big, dark-skinned character."
At this moment, because of the character customization system, some viewers in the live stream opened the Steam Platform and purchased Pirates of the Caribbean.
The next step was profession selection. There were four professions: Adventurer, Merchant, Soldier, and Pirate.
"I'll choose Pirate. After all, the game's name is related to pirates, so this profession should allow me to access more game content."
With expectant eyes, Lena pressed the button to enter the game world.
"I'll name her Leni!"
The screen changed again, and a cutscene appeared.
"Welcome to the world of Pirates of the Caribbean!"
"Wealth, fame, power. The legendary pirate 'Davy Jones,' who once possessed everything in the world, left a message before his death that made people all over the world flock to the sea:"
"'Do you want my treasure? If you want it, I can give it to you. Go find it! I've left everything there!'"
"Thus, all people began to set sail, flocking to the sea, and the world ushered in the 'Great Pirate Era.'"
"This world... that's right! A world of freedom and choice, stretching endlessly before our eyes. If our dreams can guide your direction, then go pursue them! Under the banner of faith!"
The exquisite animation coupled with the impassioned narration made Lena's heart surge. At this moment, she felt as if she was already in the middle of the ocean, breaking through waves.
The cutscene ended, and an island appeared.
The camera zoomed in from a distant view of the island to a bustling small town port.
The town glowed with a honey-like color under the setting sun, and houses with white walls and blue tiles wound along the coastline.
The dock creaked in the sea breeze, and faded pirate flags hung limply on the masts.
The roars of drunks and the clinking of gold coins came from the tavern.
Rusty anchor chains were piled between damp rocks, and several scarred sailboats were moored in the murky water, their hulls still bearing unrepaired cannon marks.
Ragged sailors squatted on cargo boxes, throwing dice, their cutlasses gleaming a dark red in the sunset, like congealed bloodstains.
A few children playing on the beach added a touch of warmth to the scene.
Finally, the camera zoomed in on a yellow-haired, twin-tailed girl at the port, and the screen paused there.
Operation tips appeared on the screen:
"Use WASD to control movement direction, mouse to control camera direction."
Lena controlled the camera to rotate a full circle, and the sight before her once again shocked her.
She was now in the pirate town, with the bustling clamor in her ears; everything was so real.
"I might have really discovered a masterpiece!" Lena murmured.
The live stream was already in an uproar.
@RenderShock: "This is actually real in-game graphics; the PV didn't lie to us!"
@PixelPaladin: "I've never seen such an exquisite game in my life."
@DetailHunter: "Look at the details of the town and characters; I'm stunned!"
@3DConvert: "I used to say 3D games weren't good, but it turns out I just hadn't seen a real 3D game!"
