Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Divine Luck Card's Effect—The Sky Dragon!

"Hahahaha! Heaven's really smiling on me today! This Divine Luck Card is the real deal—it's like wishing for something and having it fall right into your lap!"

After that satisfied laugh, Basil began to grasp how his system worked.

The Divine Luck Card gave him incredible fortune!

In the world of Pokemon, there was a saying—luck was a form of strength, and it played no small part in a trainer's success.

"Though... this egg seems kind of big."

If Basil's memory served him right, normal Pokemon eggs should be about the size of an ostrich egg.

But the one in his hands? It was as big as a basketball—maybe even bigger!

Looking at the green coloring with golden patterns, Basil started connecting it to Pokemon in his mind.

"A green egg... looks like a Grass-type Pokemon. If it's a Treecko or Bulbasaur egg, that'd be perfect!"

Thinking about it, Basil suddenly realized—if he took this unclaimed Pokemon egg home, wouldn't that give him an extra starter?

He wouldn't need to buy one from a Pokemon shop. Even if the school-distributed Pokemon had poor potential, this gave him another option!

As for whether it was truly unclaimed? Basil wasn't about to worry about that right now.

The next moment, Basil made up his mind. He glanced around, confirmed no one was nearby, and quickly headed home.

Not long after Basil left, a series of dragon roars echoed from the sky above where the egg had fallen!

Soon after, a massive green dragon—about ten meters long—descended. It swept the area with its crimson eyes, searching.

When it couldn't find what it was looking for, the green dragon flew into a rage and shot back into the sky!

"Damn you, Deoxys! You made me lose my only child—you're dead!"

If Basil had been there, he would've been shocked speechless. That was none other than Rayquaza—the legendary Sky Dragon—and it could speak human language!

From its words, it had apparently fought Deoxys?

Rayquaza lived in Earth's ozone layer, existing to protect the planet from invading extraterrestrial Pokemon.

Deoxys was a Pokemon from space that had arrived on Earth via meteorite—naturally clashing with Earth's guardian, Rayquaza!

The two Pokemon's power was evenly matched, neither able to gain the upper hand.

And this Rayquaza had apparently lost its only child in the battle. It was probably heading off to fight Deoxys to the death!

...

Meanwhile, powerful trainers from around the world watched satellite footage of the scene. When they heard that dragon's roar, their expressions changed drastically.

In Johto, Lance—renowned as the undefeated Dragon Master since his debut and current Johto Champion—detected Rayquaza descending to ground level. His face went pale.

The next moment, he threw out a Poke Ball. A massive Dragonite emerged and carried Lance straight toward Lumoria!

But Lance wasn't the only one. Lumoria's current Grand Champion—Cynthia, who'd taken office just last year—also changed expression. She mounted her Togekiss and flew straight toward Silverpine City!

Silverpine City—that was where Basil lived!

What Basil didn't know was that the egg he'd just picked up belonged to Rayquaza. And because he'd taken it...

Lumoria had just become the center of a worldwide storm!

After all, an enraged Tier-One Legendary like Rayquaza? Even Champions couldn't guarantee they could stop it!

...

"Based on the coloring, it's probably a Treecko, right? After all, its final evolution—Sceptile—has those golden orbs on its back!"

After returning home, Basil placed the egg on his bed and wrapped it in blankets to help it hatch faster.

Maybe Basil's prayers worked. Or maybe the Divine Luck Card's effect was still active.

Before long, the Pokemon egg began emitting green light. The shell cracked, and a little head poked out!

When Basil saw this, he practically dove onto the bed, his full attention fixed on the little creature.

But looking at that familiar head, Basil's brain short-circuited.

"This... this is... a Rayquaza egg!!"

...

Looking at the small green dragon—about seventy centimeters long—floating before him, Basil was completely stunned.

Sure, Basil loved Pokemon, but he'd never imagined he'd get a Legendary Pokemon right from the start!

And not just any Legendary—a Tier-One Legendary, the Sky Dragon Rayquaza itself!

Though considering he'd already gotten transmigration and a system, having a Rayquaza on top of that wasn't exactly unacceptable.

But why was this little guy only level ten?

How many resources and how much time would it take to raise it into the true Tier-One Legendary that dominated the skies?

When Basil saw Rayquaza's level, his heart sank. But seeing the moves this little guy knew? That made him smile.

As expected of a Legendary-tier Pokemon—those inherited moves were absolutely broken. At level ten, it already knew Dragon Dance and Draco Meteor!

In the games, Rayquaza shouldn't learn those moves until level sixty or seventy!

This little guy's potential was the real deal.

After all, in a world where Medium-grade potential was considered rare, Legendary potential was beyond imagination.

Even Champions probably didn't have Pokemon with potential this insane!
