Chapter 2 - Chapter two

"Someone please close the fucking window." Burying my aching head in the pillow, I groan.

Shit! I hate alcohol. I hate it, and I'm never drinking again. Not only that, but I feel like shit right now.

"You're awake!" The room was suddenly plunged into semi-darkness, and the side of the bed filled low. "Here, have this." Lifting my head, I buried them into the legs of my man. Breathing in his cologne, "This is a better cure."

"No, Kira, drink the soup. It's your favorite." Lifting my head, I stared at the soup in the bowl, annoyance, then anger clouding my mind.

"What in the world, Dave?" I stared at him in horror.

His face twisted into a frown, or is that fear? Was my tone too harsh, but how could he? "You know I am allergic to fish, and you still brought it to me," I hissed at him, unable to hold in my anger.

Injecting even the smallest amount of fish would have me lying in a hospital bed and fighting for my life.

"I'm sorry, it skipped my mind."

"Skipped your mind, like you forgot yesterday we were supposed to shoot our wedding photos," not taking his apology, I pointed out. "It seems this marriage of a thing is not going to work. Let's…."

"I'm sorry I was busy, and my phone was down. I'll make it up to you; we'll take the photos tomorrow. I will arrange everything myself."

"No, I…"

He kissed my lips, swallowing the rest of my words. From a kiss it turned into a full make-out session.

"I'm sorry, babe, and I'm going to make it up to you."

"You promise?"

"Cross my heart." Smiling brightly, I hugged him. No matter what, I love Dave with all my heart. He is like my knight in shining armor: "Let's get this out and get you something to sort your hangover." Kissing my forehead, he pulled away from the hug. Taking the soup along with him.

Ringing…ringing….

Grabbing my phone, I placed the cell phone on my ear. "Rise and shine, sleepyhead. We've got a packed schedule." Collin, my manager, spoke through the phone.

"Do you know what I dread every day?" I asked him.

"What?"

"This. Picking up your calls every morning. It's like a nightmare, coming to hunt me down." I hissed at him.

"If it keeps the money flowing, I don't mind being your nightmare for life. Now get ready if you haven't. I will be there in twenty." And he cuts the call.

Collin is the best at his job, but he's too strict. He never seems to give me a moment of rest.

In exactly twenty minutes, he was knocking at the door. "Can't I at least have breakfast with my boyfriend?" I hissed in annoyance as I opened the door.

"He can always wait to eat with you, right, handsome?" He smiled as he stared at Dave, who had come to stand beside me. "Yo, eyes off my man." Waving my hands in front of his face, I scolded.

"See you later." Placing a kiss on my forehead, Dave spoke.

"Mhmm… have a lovely day." I said before I was practically dragged to the car by Collin.

"Pick the one you like, and we can sign the contract." He passed a number of movie scripts to me as we drove to the company.

"What the hell, Collin? I thought we agreed I would be going on vacation after clearing my schedule. What's with the new scripts?"

"Directives from the company, not me. I tried to talk things out with them yesterday, but apparently they won't budge."

"This is labor abuse. How can I work 360 days every year? I'll collapse at this rate."

"Maybe you could tell your boyfriend to talk to the board of directors."

"No way!" Having Dave mix business with pleasure is something I don't want. And I want to use my own means to make it to the top.

So far it has been working, but the schedule is just far too much for one person to handle.

Arriving at the company, we headed straight to the board room. And there my schedule for the remaining half of the year was discussed.

All the scripts given were for movies in remote areas.

Maybe I'll get some fresh air in the process.

"Look who we have here." I felt a headache coming on from the voice that just spoke.

Talk of having a bad day. "Your destruction, obviously." I turned to the slim blonde, Sarah.

"You wish." Her smile gothic, she spoke, "Rather, it's your destruction. "

"In as much as it's entertaining to watch you both fight, we have a schedule to catch up with." I glared at the nonchalant Colin.

Flipping back my brown hair in her face, I followed behind Colin.

"Smile now, Kira, but you won't get to do so in a few hours." Sarah shouted from behind me.

"What does she mean by that?" Catching up to Colin, I asked.

 "Nothing to worry yourself about."

Still yet, I could not help but ponder on her words. Sarah is a spoiled brat from an influential family. She always gets what she wants. If not for the amount of revenue I generate for the company. With just a word from her, I would be out the door.
