Chapter 6 - 6 – Reading X Me

Under Ging's simple introduction,

Kevin roughly understood what "Energy" was, and its more accurate term when in use, "Nen."

Every living being has Energy within them. This is the form expressed by life energy.

However, not all living beings can control and use this flowing life energy. Only through rigorous training and comprehension can one manipulate and utilize it.

Such individuals are called Nen Users.

Kevin found this term strange and thought, Shouldn't they be called something like the Martial artist from Korean manhwa or Energy Refiners or something similar?

When he was about to inquire further, Ging refused him.

"It's not that I don't want to tell you, but I roughly understand your current situation." Ging pointed at him and explained simply, "Your situation is very special, and I believe you understand that yourself. You should already know that the original 'you' was also a Nen User. Given your circumstances, the best approach is a combination of explanation and rehabilitation at the same time. That way, it will be more efficient."

Kevin could not help but nod, because Ging was right. He really wanted to say, Then why don't we start now?

But he found it hard to speak. In a sense, Ging did not owe him anything. Rather, he owed Ging quite a lot.

However, Ging's next words interrupted his thoughts.

"It's not that I don't want to teach you." He shook his phone. "It's that I have important matters right now, and they've already been delayed because of you. Explaining isn't simple, and the time required for rehabilitation means it won't be finished in just a day or two."

With that, he stood up, sighed faintly, and looked at Kevin with an almost lingering gaze.

"To be honest, I'd be very happy to provide you with some training and guidance. Unfortunately, I have more important things to do. If you trust me, I'll find a teacher for you, and I'll come find you when I'm free later. How about that?"

He asked it casually.

Kevin did not know Ging well. After all, they had only spent a single day together.

He could only judge that the other party was probably not a bad person and was extremely interested in his situation. Without overthinking, Kevin nodded.

"Thank you."

Ging smiled and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. You don't consider me a friend, and I feel the same. However, when it comes to fulfilling a transaction, as a Hunter, I am trustworthy in that regard."

With that, he immediately took action, opened his phone, and dialed a number.

"Hello."

The petite girl looked at the disconnected phone, a thoughtful expression on her face.

"Teaching assignment? Strange."

She had just received a mercenary mission from a very well-known Nen User, Ging.

As a famous Hunter, she had of course heard that name. He was quite renowned, though she had little interaction with him. Most of what she knew came from his actions and the praise she had heard from her old man.

To be honest, she had not really wanted to take on this mission, even if the other party was the famous Ging.

However, as a well-known Gem Hunter, he offered a price that was enough to make her reconsider. Not to mention, she was actually quite suited to take on this mission at the moment.

She put away the handsome men's magazine resting on her legs, jumped off the stool, and shouted toward another training room, " Wing, we're going out."

"Ah? Yes!"

A vibrant voice responded from the lounge. A tall, bespectacled young man walked out, wearing a martial arts uniform that looked like it was meant for judo training.

"Even during daily training, you must maintain your posture," the girl said in dissatisfaction.

"Ah? Sorry, sorry!" The young man nodded repeatedly in apology, straightening his ill-fitting uniform.

"This should be your previous campsite. You can search thoroughly here and see if you can recall more memories," Ging said. Then he took out a stack of documents and handed them to Kevin. "This is what I found about you, including your registered address and property."

After speaking, he decisively drove away in a jeep, leaving Kevin alone at the simple campsite.

"Whew."

Taking a deep breath, Kevin calmed his emotions.

"Alone now, in a strange world… sigh. Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it."

Comforting himself with awkward words, Kevin cheered up and looked around the campsite.

This was likely the predecessor's campsite, with a black jeep covered in fallen leaves parked nearby.

The setup was simple, just a pitched tent. He went inside and found nothing but a sleeping bag.

Clearly, his original self did not intend to stay here long.

After a quick tidy-up, he got into the car, gathered his belongings, and started the engine.

Fortunately, the vehicle's layout seemed no different from what he was used to, and the operating logic was identical. The only thing that felt outdated was the phone. It was still bulky, with no touchscreen and certainly no navigation.

He studied the map while driving forward.

It was near nightfall when he finally drove out of the nature reserve.

The guards at the road did not stop him, and he entered the city smoothly, finding a hotel to book a room.

After dinner, he sat on the balcony, looking at the brightly lit city below. It looked no different from his previous life. However, he knew in his heart that it was no longer the same world.

His thoughts drifted toward his future.

He had gone to an internet café earlier to learn more and had also wandered the streets for a long time.

One thing was certain. His combat strength should be invincible among ordinary people, provided they did not use guns. But he also had one. That at least gave him some confidence and a sense of security.

First, he needed to fully understand himself: his name, identity, and relationships.

Then he would leave this city and take transportation back to his "home."

He would learn more about this world and wait for his teacher to arrive. The teacher arranged by Ging should be someone reliable.

As for money, he did not think he would lack it in the short term.

He had checked at the bank. His bank cards together held thirty-seven million jenny.

The purchasing power of this currency, called jenny, was roughly equivalent to the Japanese yen in his previous life. He relied on that conversion to help himself adapt more quickly.

This amount was more than enough for the short term and gave him a strong sense of reassurance.
