Chapter 1 - Prelude— (1): Advent and Mayhem

The sky tore open, spilling out a black, star-filled void that bled across the heavens.

The wind stilled into silence.

Below, the vast expanse of water mirrored the sky's darkness so perfectly it was hard to tell where one ended and the other began.

A man shrouded in a gluttonous white mist, its surface shifting endlessly forming beasts, humans, and monsters in its swirling glow.

They all spoke at once, their voices overlapping into a single, deafening resonance that shook the entire region before the man cloaked in light and shadow.

He stood there like the hero of a fading age.

A long red haori, worn and frayed at the edges, draped down to his knees.

Beneath it, his white garments caught the dim light, their folds soft and wide sleeves and hakama bound at the waist by a sash the color of dusk-stained silk, trailing behind him like a fading memory.

Across his back rested a single obsidian long sword. gleaming faintly.

—Tied along the long sword were countless strips of silk, charms and prayers for victory offered by others.

Each carried its own symbol, its own inscription of faith. At its silver-painted blade said to cut through anything that dared stand before it.

Its presence was overwhelming, though his hands remained calm touched by the serenity of monks, yet holding the poised readiness of a warrior.

His hair, black as ink, drifted weightlessly around his face, and in his eyes rested the quiet of someone who had stood too close to both life and death.

Mist coiled from his lips and his eyes.

He spoke, His voice was like that of a rabid hound, as a surge of anger erupted from within him.

"The Palace of Death....."

He twirled the long sword, the air trembling around its arc.

Halting for a moment.

".....PAY FOR YOUR DEEDS"

With that he launched himself toward what lay ahead.

Infront of him loomed a colossal gate of pale white, and beyond it, a castle floated in the sky.

Held aloft by clouds so dense they looked solid, vast enough to dwarf entire islands.

A gray aura rippled from its walls, heavy and ancient, and the gate creaked open with a deep metallic clang that echoed across the heavens.

From its shadow spilled legions of darkness

shapes twisting, each more distorted than the last, surging forward to attack.

"So, it's that bastard trying to stop us," a few of the dark entities hissed among themselves, their voices low and distorted as they gazed down at the man darted towards them and his legion below.

From a distant horizon, an army of beasts, monsters, and humans alike, rising to meet the tide.

A women matched his pace, she spoke up and apologized.

"Pardon me, venerable one. We were delayed,"

He gave a slight nod in response.

"Follow me," he commanded. "None of these creatures are to leave with their lives intact."

Mid-flight, he gathered his will, and his speed erupted like a streak of lightning across the sky toward the gate with a speed that shattered the stillness of space itself.

The others attempted to match his soaring speed, but only 5 succeeded.

Among them, one followed closely at his back,a heavy-set man followed like a shadow bound to his light.

"LETS END THIS.... FOR ONCE AND ALL" He shouted, hurling himself forward with his sword gripped tightly in both hands before him.

He tore through the air that shimmered like black magma.

Piercing through creaturs, beings born from a different dimensions , leaving trails of destruction in its wake.

A smile spread across his face.

A undeniably a fearful smile.

He hurled himself into the vast darkness, his blade cleaving through the writhing entities that filled the void, while the man beside him shielded his path.

The fat immortal, Gareth, smiled faintly and called out,

"Go! Take back what was once yours.

They will be right behind you."

As Diao plunged toward the gates of the floating palace, his voice echoed across the chaos.

"Don't worry about me! Guide the world in our stead! We will return!"

With it, he stepped into a foreign world. Though his companions would soon follow, Dareth had to remain behind for their stead.

It was not merely the parting of two sworn brothers.

This was moment marked the beginning of a war that would bind together every world and every species.

——

Advent signifies 'coming' or 'arrival'.

And further denotes the sacred period of preparation for the advent of a divine messenger

This world traces its origins back nearly 100 million years, to the time of the divine purification epoch, fought between good and evil.

Mayhem signifies 'upheaval' and 'destruction'. The word traces its origin to the Tomb of the 'Unholy-daemon' in the northwest, reaching back some eighteen million years.

Historians believed that creation is impossible without destruction, and that, as a fundamental law, peace cannot exist without chaos.

Thus, they held that even from the first sparks of Mayhem, long before its arrival.

It had conspired to unleash a massacre, paving the way for the union of the 'Eight worlds' to gave birth to one single behemoth of a world.

Historians of that age believed that Mayhem was a god's envoy, cloaked in the guise of destruction.

In later eras, historians formally enshrined the name of this epoch as "The Advent of Mayhem," nearly two full cycles after the term was first coined.
