The deafening roar tore through the air, and Acnologia's body blazed with a surge of Magic Power greater than anything it had released before. Its massive frame shuddered as it bore the brunt of the attacks pouring in from below.
Magic attacks imbued with Dragon Slayer properties crashed against its hardened dragon scales in bursts of brilliant light, leaving behind scorch marks and hairline cracks. But none of it dealt any true damage to Acnologia.
"Insects! You have made me angry!"
The enraged Black Dragon abandoned its entanglement with the four Dragon Gods. Enduring Kuro's assault, it turned its full attention to the Fairy Tail members below in the mountain range of Mount Zonia.
Acnologia opened its massive jaws, and every trace of Magic assailing it from the surrounding air was drawn swiftly inward. The Magic of Arcane Dragon Slayer Magic, capable of consuming all Magic, began to assert its true power.
A dark energy, far more concentrated and terrifying than anything before, gathered before Acnologia with crushing speed. The immense magical pressure it exuded forced even Kuro to pull back.
And this time, Acnologia's target was the entire mountain range of Mount Zonia.
It intended to wipe these irritants, and every stone of the mountain around them, off the face of the earth.
"This is bad!"
Zeref's expression shifted sharply. He could feel the destructive power massing within that dark energy. At this level, not just the mountain range but the ground itself could be annihilated. There was no time to flee. Everyone could only call up their strongest defensive Magic and hold.
Erza instantly switched into her Adamantine Armor, raising her shield, which Irene had already reinforced with an Indestructible Enchantment, in front of everyone.
Gray poured every last bit of strength he had into raising a massive wall of solid ice.
Mirajane, having fully absorbed the soul power of the Demon King through her Satan Soul Take Over, deployed a deep violet magical barrier around herself.
Laxus's body crackled and surged with lightning, weaving itself into a dense resistance net.
Gildarts focused his Crush Magic outward, attempting to break apart the destructive impact before it could land.
Every person threw up their strongest defense.
Even the four Dragon Gods in the sky felt the lethal pressure bearing down and cast their own defensive Magic. The Fire Dragon God Ignia unleashed a torrent of flames to try to disrupt Acnologia's charge.
It was too late.
Acnologia's devastating breath had already fully formed. A torrent of pure magical force poured from its jaws. Wherever it passed, space itself fractured, and all things were reduced to nothing.
A blinding white filled every eye.
Destruction had arrived.
Under the stunned gaze of the four Dragon Gods, the entire mountain range of Mount Zonia vanished from their perception in an instant. Even through the settling smoke, they could see that the earth had been torn open, leaving a massive abyss at least a thousand meters deep.
This was Acnologia's true power.
The Water Dragon God and the Golden Dragon God fell into despair. Even the Fire Dragon God Ignia, who was never short of defiance, found that he could not summon the will to resist.
But the Moon Dragon God Selene noticed something. The human called Kuro, who had just watched his companions apparently be annihilated, had not changed expression in the slightest.
Could it be...
As if in answer to her unspoken thought, a tremendous golden light erupted from the abyss below. Rising through the dissipating smoke was a colossal sphere of golden light.
The Fairy Tail members, who by all rights should have been reduced to nothing by Acnologia's world-ending Magic, were entirely unharmed, held safe within it.
Inside the sphere, Mavis floated serenely in the air. She lowered her hand, and gave a cheerful thumbs-up to her companions below.
At the critical moment, it had been one of the Three Great Fairy Magics, Fairy Sphere, created by Mavis herself, that had saved everyone. This Magic, built on the unshakeable belief of its caster and sustained by her Fairy Heart's infinite Magic Power, could not be broken even by the full force of the Black Dragon's blow.
"Is this truly Fairy Sphere...?"
Zeref wiped the sweat from his brow. That attack would have been utterly impossible for him to survive now that his immortal body was gone. He had not expected Mavis to hold it with such ease.
It occurred to him, somewhat belatedly, that despite having lived a very long time, both his wife and his son had surpassed him in Magic.
The Fairy Tail members had barely a moment to breathe before Natsu's entire body erupted with Magic Power that far exceeded anything he should have been capable of. A torrent of deep crimson flame tore free from him and shot straight at Acnologia.
Almost simultaneously, the same thing happened to Gajeel, Wendy, Rogue, and Sting.
Four surges of Magic, iron, sky, shadow, and light, rose to envelop the soaring crimson flames, and the combined force struck Acnologia before he had even begun to react.
In an instant, the flames became a massive Fire Dragon, slightly smaller than Acnologia in stature, but with its claws already sunk deep into the joint of the Black Dragon's right shoulder.
The combined force of the Fire Dragon King, the Sky Dragon, the Iron Dragon, the Light Dragon, and the Shadow Dragon erupted directly into Acnologia's body.
"AOOOO!!!"
For the first time.
Acnologia let out a shriek of pain.
It could consume the Magic invading its body, but the Fire Dragon King gave it no time.
"Now, Kuro!"
Igneel's roar rang out from within Natsu.
Kuro's eyes sharpened. He had been holding back, waiting for exactly this — the moment when Acnologia's full attention was locked onto the attack below, and its own defenses were stretched at their thinnest.
He drove the five fused Dragon powers within him to their absolute limit. His body blazed with five-colored light.
"Five Extremes United: Chaos Dragon Fang!!!"
The five Dragon Slayer powers converged and collapsed into one, forming an extraordinarily condensed spike of grey-white energy no larger than a human palm. What it lacked in size it more than compensated for in density. Even Acnologia felt a chill at the aura it exuded.
Acnologia had not anticipated this. The Dragon Slayer Magic it had taken from Kuro was gone, and yet in less than half a year, this man had constructed a Magic with the power to threaten its life.
With its right shoulder locked in the Fire Dragon King's grip, there was no time to mount a counterattack.
Acnologia's hatred surged, and its free Dragon claw wrenched violently at its own pinned shoulder.
A sickening sound.
A pitch-black dragon arm, spraying blood, fell toward the earth.
To break free, Acnologia had severed its own limb.
Freed from Igneel's grip, Acnologia twisted its body desperately. It was barely enough. The fatal strike missed its vital points.
But the attack still hit. The condensed energy detonated against the side of Acnologia's head, scales scattering, blood spilling from its jaws, and its right wing shattering completely.
Its balance gone, Acnologia could no longer hold itself aloft. Spinning uncontrolled, it crashed with devastating force into the thousand-meter abyss it had carved into the earth below.
At the edge of the abyss, Mavis opened Fairy Sphere once more. The Dragon Slayers seized the opening and unleashed their greatest techniques on the falling Black Dragon all at once.

The sky above the abyss became a storm of light and force.
At the same time, nine dragons led by Igneel, the Fire Dragon King, unleashed their most powerful attacks on Acnologia from above. Erza and the others, whose Magic had already been imbued with Dragon Slayer properties by Irene, rained their spells down once more without pause.
A violent explosion swallowed Acnologia whole.
It let out a roar of pain, its massive body tumbling ceaselessly from the relentless barrage chasing it down, unable to find solid ground.
The sheer volume of Dragon Slayer attribute attacks suppressed the Magic of Absolute Negation Dragon Slayer Magic's ability to consume them to its minimum.
A minute passed.
Acnologia finally crashed into the floor of the abyss.
A gruesome, gaping wound had opened in its chest. Through it, its heart could be seen, still beating.
When Kuro and the Fire Dragon King had struck together, supported by Fairy Tail and the four Dragon Gods choosing to stand alongside humans, Acnologia's defeat had become inevitable.
Kuro landed on Acnologia's massive body without a word. The Chaos Dragon Fang condensed once more in his hand. With the fury and grief of four hundred years burning behind it, he drove it into that still-beating heart.
