I really wanted to write and upload this chapter another day as I previously stated, because I was too tired to do it today. But I felt bad leaving my readers on cliffhanger, so I decided to write and holy shit, I think I cooked. This chapter is probably the best chapter I have ever written, and is worth 3-4 chapters word count wise compared to how much word count other chapters had. Easy. That was how everything had gone for him till now, why? Because thanks to his system he could have any card he wanted, make any deck he wanted and that made him too confident.
Too confident to even take it seriously when he saw Zarc, literally the end game villain of Arc-V had printed a new deck just to take revenge on him.
Did he feel bad when he lost to Zarc? No. Rather the only thing that registered to his mind was pain.
This wasn't a child's game anymore. This wasn't an easy duel with a random npc who he could afford to troll.
It was a shadow game, one that could cost his life if he was careless, which it nearly did.
And the price of that carelessness? The pain he was feeling all over his body. A direct attack from a monster with 3000 attack points, topped with the spiritual power of Zarc as the Supreme King.
No spirits to cover or have his back only made it worse, making him realise that it was time to take things seriously. A simple mistake from him could not only ruin his own life, but people associated with him too.
Two duels gone, one win for each duelist. But Zarc stood proudly without any hint of tiredness as this place was literally his own dimension.
Meanwhile Ryoken battered and tired just from a single duel. If he lost this time too, who knows what would happen to Yuri and Serena.
Ryoken slowly stood up, biting his lip as he felt the pain in his ribs. He then took out a new deck and put it into his duel disk.
"Oh standing again Vermin? I thought that attack finished you. guess you deserve to be called cockroach now instead of Vermin."
Ryoken didn't pay any attention to Zarc's mockery and raised his duel disk, initiating the duel.
[Duel!]

Main Phase 1
"I'll go first." Ryoken muttered, taking the first turn. He planned to neutralise Zarc's plans right off the bat.
"First I'll activate pot of greed from my hand, which you know its effect."
Ryonen added two cards to his hand before playing his next spell card "I activate the spell card, Branded Opening! I discard one card and then take 1 (Despia) monster from my Deck, and either add it to my hand or Special Summon it in Defense Position."
"I discard Despian Tragedy to special summon Aluber the Jester of Despia!"

"Aluber's effect activates, when summoned I can add 1 "Branded" Spell/Trap from my Deck to my hand. Also When Despian tragedy is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, I can choose 1 Despia monster card and add it to my hand!"
"With Aluber's effect I add Branded fusion and with Tragedy's effect I add Dramaturge of Despia!"
"Despia and Branded... never heard of those archetypes..." Zarc muttered, wary of whatever tactic Ryoken was planning.
"From my hand I activate Branded fusion! With it I can fusion summon using monsters on my field, hand and my deck!"
"Fusion summon from deck!?"
"I chose the Fallen of Albaz and Blue-eyes white dragon from my deck to fusion summon! Two dragons with unseen might fuse to create a legendary dragon! Appear and set everything ablaze! Level 8! Albion the Branded Dragon!"

As the dragon clad in red burning scales appeared and set foot at the arena, Ryoken continued his combo.
"When this card is fusion summoning I can fusion summon a level 8 or lower fusion monster from my extra deck by banishing its materials my hand, field or graveyard! I banish Aluber on my field with Fallen of Albaz in my graveyard to fusion summon!"
"Two creatures of darkness fuse to create a legendary dragon! Appear and Burn everything that stands in your way! Level 8! Lubellion the Searing Dragon!"

The second Dragon that Ryoken fusion summoned was a dragon clad in iron armour, and whatever it touched burned on the spot.
"And we're not done yet! Lubellion's effect activates! If this card is Fusion Summoned I can discard 1 card and the. Fusion Summon 1 Level 8 or lower Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck, except Lubellion itself, by shuffling Fusion Materials mentioned on it into the Deck, from my monsters on the field, GY, and/or face-up banished cards!"
"I chose Aluber And Fallen of Albaz that were banished now! A creature of despair fuses with a fallen dragon to create a blazing dragon! Appear and make this field your masquerade! Level 8! Masquerade the Blazing Dragon!"

As the third Dragon appeared and took the stage, Zarc felt an ominous aura from it, different from what he was feeling from other cards Ryoken had used till now.
"I set 3 cards face down and end my turn."
Turn 2

"I draw."

Main Phase 1
"I have to say, for a cockroach you're amazing. To fusion summon 3 monsters consecutively is no small feat."
"Oh? The almighty Zarc is praising me now?" Ryoken teased him much to his amusement.
"I'm just acknowledging your efforts as a cockroach you are. Nothing more." Zarc said.
"Tell me Zarc, are you the Supreme King because you are the strongest or are you the strongest because you're the supreme king?"
Zarc stared at him confused, not getting what he was saying "Aren't those two the same thing?"
"Not really. What I mean is did you get stronger because you were the supreme king or did you earn the title of Supreme King because you were strong."
"Obviously I was strong. No one could match up to me or even push me around, everyone was below me. I alone stood at the top." He said proudly.
Ryoken gave him a sad smile "That's quite sad isn't it? To be lonely at the top. doesn't it feel boring and tiring when no one is near your level to push you to your limits?"
"I..." Zarc didn't know what to say. In a way he agreed with what Ryoken said. Back in those days where he dueled for the entertainment of people, he enjoyed dueling his opponents, more so when the crowd cheered for him.
But now, was there anyone that could make him feel like that, to feel the joy of dueling? where are those who he tried so hard to impress, to gain their affection and interest?
Now that he thought about it, this duel he had with Ryoken was to some degree enjoyable. If he didn't enjoy it then why was he so pissed when he lost to Ryoken, and why did he feel so satisfied when he won the duel against him?
"If you're trying to talk me out of this duel to save your life then you're wrong." Zarc warned him. But this time he didn't call Ryoken a Vermin or a cockroach.
"I wouldn't do that. I said those so you can think about them regardless of the outcome of this duel. While I do feel pain from the duel we had, I still enjoyed it because you were the first one in this world to defeat me."
"Is that so... well the same can be said about you too. I haven't lost to anyone for a very long time." Zarc admitted, the previous ominous aura he had grown fainter.
"It was my turn, so I continue. from my hand I activate the spell card Polymerization to fuse Mementotlan Akihiron and Mementotlan Dark Blade!"
"Before that my monsters effect activates! When Masquerade is on the field, whenever my opponent activates cards or effects, they must pay 600 Life points! Masquerade Tax!"
Zarc LP: 4000 - 600 -> 3400
"Interesting effect." Zarc praised whilst looking at the masquerade Dragon "But I still continue with my polymerization's effect! My servants join together to give birth to a deadly dragon! The dragon that Serves the lich king, appear and serve me! Level 7! Mementotlan Twin Dragon!"
Mementotlan Twin Dragon 2800ATK/2100DEF
"Twin Dragon's effect, When fusion summoned I can destroy a Memento card in my hand or field to add 2 other Memento cards to my hand! I destroy Mementotlan Ghattic in my hand to add 2 Memento cards to my hand!"
"Masquerade effect activates again! Once again, Masquerade Tax." Zarc's life points were once again decreased as he added 2 cards to his hand.
Zarc LP: 3400 - 600 -> 2800
Zarc was about to use Ghattic's effect to revive it from the graveyard but decided against it as it wasn't worth the life points.
"Now I activate the spell card Mementotlan Fusion to fusion summon a Memento monster from my extra deck!"
"Masquerade's effect activates, you lose 600 life points. Also I activate my set card, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell. I discard a spell card from my hand and negate your spell card, also you cannot use any cards with the same name as it for the rest of the duel!"
Zarc LP: 2800 - 600 -> 2200
Much to Ryoken's expectation Zarc Smirked "I knew you had something ready up your sleeve for me, so I was hoping you would take this as bait. I activate the field spell Mystic Mine!" He quickly added before Ryoken could say anything "Of course I'll gladly pay the Masquerade Tax to activate it."
Zarc LP: 2200 - 600 -> 1600
"Whilst on the field, when you control more monsters than I do, you cannot activate monster effects or declare an attack. of course the same goes for me, but right now you're the one with 3 monsters on the field, So from now on Masquerade's effect is useless!"
Ryoken looked at Zarc briefly before cracking a smile "Well done. I didn't expect that."
It seemed like both duelists forgot that this was a shadow game, both of their lives at stake, well more for Ryoken since this was a quarter of Zarc.
"Thanks for the compliment. Now I continue with my turn. There are 3 Memento monsters in my graveyard, so I can special summon Mementotlan-Horned Dragon in the attack position."
Mementotlan-Horned Dragon 2850ATK/2350DEF
"Battle phase. I attack your Masquerade Dragon with my Horned Dragon."
"I activate my set card, Mirror force! All attack position monsters you control are destroyed!"
The holy trap card, Mirror force appeared as strikingly as always, shielding Ryoken's mosnters and reflecting it back to Zarc's monsters, destroying them.
"Horned dragons effect activates when it is destroyed. To it I also chain Twin dragon's effect. When destroyed I can special summon a level 6 or lower Memento monster from my graveyard. I summon Mementotlan Dark Blade."
Mementotlan Dark Blade 1800ATK/1500DEF
"Now onto Horned Dragon's effect. When destroyed I can destroy 3 cards on the field, including a Memento card on my field. I destroy my Dark blade and destroy your Masquerade and Albion the Branded Dragon."
"Lastly I set one card face down and end my turn."
Turn 3
Draw Phase
"I draw." Ryoken muttered, feeling a faint pain as he drew a card.

"I activate the field spell Despia, Theater of the Branded."
The arena began to morph and change into a new shape, turning into a massive theatre that was taller than skyscrapers.
"By sending a card that mentions (fallen of Albaz) from my extra deck to the graveyard, I send Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon to special summon this card! Appear Fallen of the White Dragon!"
Fallen of the White Dragon 1800ATK/0DEF
"I activate my field spells effect. Once per turn, I can fusion summon one level 8 or higher monster from my extra deck using the card in my hand and field as materials. I fuse Dramaturge of Despia in my hand with my Fallen of white Dragon and Lubellion the Searing Dragon!"
Creature of Dark and light come together under the rule of despair to create the most vicious fiend! Trifold fusion summon! Appear Level 11, Despian Proskenion!"
Despian Proskenion 3200ATK/3200 (Defence position)
"Another Despian fusion monster huh? impressive. But still due to my field spell you cannot activate its effect nor declare attack."
"I know that's why I summoned it in defense position. I end my turn."
Turn 4
Draw Phase
"I draw." Zarc declared confidently and played the card he drew without looking at it.

"I activate pot of greed to draw 2 cards." Zarc said while Ryoken could only shake his head and curse his luck.
"I shuffle the 5 Memento Monster cards in my graveyard to my deck to special summon Mementoal Tecuhtlica - Combined Creation."
Mementoal Tecuhtlica - Combined Creation 5000ATK/5000DEF
"Really? that guy now?" Ryoken muttered which didn't escape Zarc's ears, making him chuckle.
"What can I say, when you're the Supreme King the deck itself will respond to you. Honestly it is weird for me that you cannot do the same, I expected a duelist of your calibre to be able to do that."
What Zarc was talking about was obviously the heart of the cards that Yugi always talked about.
"Anyway, since we both control the same amount of monsters, Mystic Mine is destroyed. Meaning both of us can now use monster effects freely. Combined creation attacks your Despian Proskenion."
Ryoken was about to use Proskenion's effect before going to the battle phase but decided against it because there was no use to it now that Combined Creation was on the field. Why?
If he were to banish Twin Dragon from Zarc's graveyard, Zarc would have used Combined Creations effect to summon Twin Dragon, rendering the activation of the effect useless.
If he opted to revive it and Zarc didn't even use the effect of Combined Creation to summon it first, it still would be futile since Combine Creation can attack all monsters on the field when it is the only monster on the field.
So he watched as his monster was slain by Combined creation before activating his set card.
"I activate my trap card, magic cylinder. When my opponent declares an attack, their attack is negated and they take damage equal to their monster's attack points."
This was Ryoken's last resort. His last line of defense. If it did work without any problem, then Zarc would lose the Duel.
But Zarc laughed, a laugh without any malic behind it "Interesting as always. I expected you to have a trap ready to beat me, so I prepared this my last turn! activate set card counter trap card, Trap Jammer! If my opponent activates a trap during the battle phase it is negated and destroyed! So both your trap card and monster are destroyed!"
As the attack hit Proskenion it made a giant explosion and a lot of smoke. As the smoke subsided, Ryoken was left standing, with no cards in his hand nor anything in his field.
"I really am enjoying our duel, so I hope you can entertain me for one more turn. Don't let me down." Zarc said as he ended his turn.
Turn 5
Draw Phase
For the first time since coming to this world, Ryoken was hesitant to draw a card.
What if he couldn't get the card he needed, resulting in his defeat in the next turn?
a bead of sweat formed and slowly slided down his forehead, as he looked at the top card of his deck with an unreadable expression.
He wished that his life points were under 1000 so he could use Barian's chaos draw. But he didn't have the luxury.
He closed his eyes and put his hand on his deck, ready to draw the card that would settle his fate.
Just then, he felt another hand on his own. A new source of energy was coursing through his body, guiding him, telling him that he could do it.
Opening his eyes he saw the faint silhouette of Medea standing beside him whilst smiling gently at him, her hand on top of his.
Ryoken let out the breath he was holding and drew the card, and when he saw the card he drew, he couldn't help but laugh loudly.

Main Phase 1
"I activate Graceful charity to draw 3 cards and discard 2!" Ryoken drew 3 cards and then discarded 2 of them.
"I activate pot of avarice to select 5 monsters in my graveyard and return them to my deck, I chose Albion the Branded Dragon, Lubellion the Searing Dragon, Masquerade the Blazing Dragon, Despian Proskenion and lastly Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon. Next I draw 2 cards!"
Looking at the new cards in his hand, his mood improved even more.
"When my opponent controls a monster and I don't, I can send Chaos Witch from my hand or deck to the graveyard and special summon Medea, The Queen of Chaos!"

Medea, The Queen of Chaos 2500ATK/2000DEF/Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/Lv7
A card with 2500 Attack points and 2000 defence points. The Status of ace monster that each Yu-Gi-Oh main character had.
And now, Ryoken had one of his own, making him feel special. This was the development of the bond he had with Medea.
Sure they didn't talk much, just like two introverts. But she was his first spirit and stood beside him through every duel he had experienced in this world.
The new form of Medea had a pair Black demon like wings sprouting from her back, her appearance grown out of the young version of herself, now a refined and noble lady.
(A/N: Pic here, yes I made it myself with AI. struggled with that more than writing the chapter XD)
"I can feel that you have a special bond with this card. Is this your ace?"
"I'll let her answer that herself! Medea's effect activates! When summoned I can fusion summon either a Dark or Light attribute monster from my extra deck by banishing her and a light attribute monster from my hand, field or graveyard! I fuse her with Blue-eyes white dragon in my graveyard! Go fusion summon!"
"The Queen of Chaos unites with Legendary White dragon to Create a dragon with uncontrollable Fury! Appear the embodiment of Rage and Fury! Level 8! Borrelod Chaos Furious Dragon!"
(A/N: Full effect of oc cards will be written at the end of the chapter.)
The new version of Borrelod dragon was similar to the previous one, with its body's colour swapped from purple and red to Black and White. one of its wings Glowed darkly whilst the other glowed radiantly.
Its eyes, one black and the other white staring at Zarc similar to how a predator eyed its prey.
Borrelod Chaos Furious Dragon 3000ATK/3000DEF/Dark/Dragon/Fusion/Lv8
Zarc looked back at the dragon, as if challenging it while having an amused smile. He was satisfied with what Ryoken had shown to him.
"Furious Dragon's effect activates! When fusion summoned, all monsters that my opponent controls lose attack points equal to the combined attack points of the materials used for this card. Blue-eyes had 3000 attack points and Medea had 2500, Your Combined Creation loses 5500 Attack points!"
Mementoal Tecuhtlica - Combined Creation 5000 -> 0 ATK
"I activate Combined creation's effect! When my opponent activates or uses an effect I can special summon a Memento monster from my graveyard!"
"Denied!" Ryoken declared "I activate Furious Dragon's effect! Once per turn when a monster with 0 attack points activates its effect, it is negated and this card gains 200 attack points for each level/Rank that monster has! Furious Charge!"
Borrelod Chaos Furious Dragon 3000 + 2200 -> 5200
Zarc looked at his monster and Ryoken's, smiling bitterly. Not because he was mad or sad that he was about to lose this duel, rather he was reminiscing about his past.
If he had met Ryoken before becoming what he is today, maybe fate would have had a different plan for him. Maybe he could have had a good life with Ray.
"Furious Dragon, Attacks your Combined Creation! Chaos Fury Blast!"
As the two monsters fought, Furious Dragon came out victorious, crushing Combined Creation with a blast of chaotic energy.

When this card is special summoned, You can fusion summon one Dark or light attribute monster from your extra deck by banishing this card as material with another card with Light attribute.
When an opponents monster attacks directly and this card is in your graveyard or banishment, you can shuffle this card back to your deck and Negate that attack. This effect can only be used twice per duel.
Borrelod Chaos Furious Dragon
3000ATK/3000DEF/Dark/Dragon/Fusion/Lv8
1 light monster+1 Dark monster
While this fusion summoned card is on the field, all monsters on your opponents field lose attack points equal to the combined attack points of materials used to summon this card.
Once per turn (Quick effect): When a monster with 0 Attack points activates its effect, you negate it, then this card gains 200 attack points equal to the level/Rank of that monster.
If this card is destroyed, you can Banish one card on the field.
